Making light of a tragedy, but I played that level in Hitman

This is actually pretty shocking! Does this count as manslaughter?
How would you live with yourself?

Unless we was in charge of gun safety he's completely blameless.

What is a prop gun? I would have assumed that it would not be capable of killing.

Yikes, I'm trying to picture how he would have been aiming at both the cinematographer and the director when shooting the gun, a near the camera shot perhaps? I still can't quite make sense of it.

It's possible that they weren't shooting a scene and he was just waving it around. Considering how fatal accidents seem to happen all the time, it wouldn't surprise me.
Though you'd think this could be easily avoided by using a prop gun instead of a real one. Or not putting any blanks in it. As much as they like their realistic gun shooting effect, I guess it could be easily mimicked by a good actor, and the muzzle fire added in post production.

This sounds absolutely tragic. How the fuck does this sort of thing happen more than once, ever?

If it's anything like the Brandon Lee incident, it was probably casings for the blank that got discharged somehow, and hit someone's vitals. Usually they have prop guys to check these things first, but I guess it got skipped or something.

With Brandon Lee, what happened was they filmed a scene where the bad guys were loading guns (with dummy rounds but where there was an actual projectile in the shell but no primer or powder). The projectile came loose from the dummy shell and lodged in the barrel, then the guns were unloaded and loaded back up with blanks. The power of the blank firing shot the bullet out and killed poor old Brandon. I assume the same here more or less.

Awww, the online comments for this are really touching, ranging from the heartfelt condolences to the accusations that it's a liberal conspiracy in which Baldwin purposefully gunned down two co-workers and disguised it as an "accident", so that he can subsequently advocate for tighter gun control legislation and force his woke leftist agenda on America.

I recall the main star in an 80s American popular detective show the name of which I can’t remember was messing around on set and pretended to shoot himself in the head with a gun that had blanks in but I think killerd himself in the process ? Anyone remember this ?

@red_Bool - if that's meant as a "lol, irony" post, there's a pretty huge difference between that and someone else not doing their job and making sure prop weapons are safe on a film set.

Wrongful killing is equivalent to manslaughter I think, which this isn’t unless the props guy was negligent somehow

You would have thought they can just chuck gunshots in when they are putting all the other special effects into films these days, even cheapo ones. It's mad they still use a prop in this day and age with a known quantity of accidentally killing people occasionally.

You can seriously injure someone / yourself with just a blank. They're pretty forceful things really. In movies where someone is going to get shot really close up they will tend to use a "non-gun" (ie, totally inert replica) or an airsoft replica then add the effects in post production.
I was in the army cadets for a year back in the day and they made it very very clear not to shoot each other with blanks

Can't remember his name but I think he empties all the blanks except one and mimicked Russian Roulette not understanding that even a blank at close range can cause damage. That's more stupidity than a prop fault I feel.
You'd expect on set for people to be checking these things and giving at least a brief healthy and safety talk to the actors if firearms props will be in use.
Edit: Jon-Erik Hexum. That's the guy.

It's mad they still use a prop in this day and age with a known quantity of accidentally killing people occasionally. One of the reasons they use blanks still is to get realistic reactions from the actors (flinching, a bit of recoil etc). You can usually tell from a mile off if someone isn't reacting to an actual gunshot, even a blank.

Jeez, that's tragic, although it's amazing reading about the amount of people helped by the organ donations in the 'Death' section. Also, the memoriam that went out on the show being full of spelling errors is pretty funny.

Not sure why it's so shocking, apparently Dame Judi won't even leave her trailer in the morning until she's shot someone dead.

It's not just recoil when you fire a gun, you can physically see it operate, which is hard to cgi I guess.
