Thing is, the absolute best thing a VA can do is not stand out in any way

I think there are a few exceptions to that. On that note, Norio Wakamoto was recently lamenting the fact that while a lot of new voice actors are good at their jobs and are often excellent at side things like singing, relatively few of them have really distinctive voices so it’s kind of hard to tell them apart. Voice actors are definitely more strongly associated with roles in Japan too, and cast changes aren’t done lightly for the most part.

It would seem that's nothing new for Kamiya. I read a few times during this mess that he's basically been blocking anyone who tweets at him in not-Japanese for years, it's well-known as kind of his "thing". Doesn't stop people that had no idea about it being all Janice about it ("Oh... My... God!") and thinking that because he blocked them now there's something more to it, of course, but him being dickish on Twitter is supposedly separate from the current mess. Then again I only ever learned about this from some randoms on Reddit, so...

Poor old Helena Taylor’s follow up tweets “clarifying” the details almost as widely ignored as a Mr Tom twitch stream

I mean, joking aside, what has she posted that's new? Or rather, that might sway opinions back to her side? All I saw visiting her Twitter just now was her backpedaling from her original story to 10-15k, which became 4k for a cameo after she declined. Which is not only pretty close to what Bloomberg said but also a far cry from the "4k for the whole role" she made it seem like it was at the start...
At this point, if she can't provide actual proof to back up her claims, no one is really going to change their mind. And she's not really helping her case by continuing to parrot the "450 million franchise" and "lying, corrupt, greedy company" stuff...

Yeah, read through her recent tweets and she's still waffling on about that $450m franchise.
Think I'll keep my pre-order in place, thanks.

So, is it worth me getting Bayonetta 2 at some point or should I just get hold of this new one?
As mentioned earlier, I only recently played the first game and enjoyed it quite a bit. My only real complaint was that I was a bit shit and the game seemed to enjoy punishing me for being shit. The best way to get upgrade points seemed to be by getting the high level awards at the end of the level. I pretty much always was getting stone, as I would die 3-4+ times a level. That was kind of frustrating.
I didn't really care much about the story and found myself either skipping or zoning out during the cutscenes. Didn't have a clue what was going on, so don't feel like I need to play 2 for the story.

It’s also come to light, as people sifted her tweets, that she is a bit fash so I think everyone collectively decided ‘fuck her’.
(Props to elstoof for pegging her as a typical Tory housewife)

She should have taken the $60,000 The comma tells me that the "extra 5,0000" was probably a typo on her part, meant to read 5k... Of course if she was actually offered 60k total then that just makes her story even more bogus

Funniest (?) part is that the boycott call seems to have had had the exact opposite effect, I didn't think to save any links from before the debacle but apparently it's selling out and at the top of multiple Amazon sales lists now, so... Job well done?? At this rate she might make the "$450mil franchise" thing come true after all

I wonder if Platinum have the time to add a scene where Bayonetta shoots a duck that’s drinking milkshake before winking at the camera

Honestly, that's the part that makes the least sense to me. There's no way Bayonetta 1/2 on their own reach those numbers. And if you start including, I dunno, her appearances in Smash, it (probably) jumps way beyond those numbers! Any way you slice it, she's off...

Only just got around to watching her videos and I fear they might have ruined B1&2 for me because I've just realised she has the voice of somebody who would really irritate me in real life. Tory housewife is spot on

In reality I have no ill will, just sounds like she fucked around and found out.
Apparently she took just $3,000 for B1 and a bit more for B2. I'd say a bump to just $4,000 by the time of a second sequel is a bit mean. Depends on whether the $4,000 thing is true or Platinum's version of events.
Calling out Hale is out of order though, it really sounds like both versions of the story would agree that she was hired after it was apparent that Taylor wouldn't be reprising the role. Even if that weren't the case, what's she going to do turn down a paying job because of Twitter drama?

Depends on whether the $4,000 thing is true or Platinum's version of events. That's the thing though, at this point even Taylor says that the full role would have been at least 10k, 15k after she emailed Kamiya, and that the 4k was for a lesser part (cameo?) offered after she rejected the 15k. Both versions say 4k for a minor part in Bayo 3 versus 3k for presumably all of Bayo 1 (according to Taylor), but 10-15k for all of Bayo 3 vs 3k for Bayo 1. Now whether 15k is still too low for a leading role in a second sequel is a different issue (and VAs being underpaid in general is a widespread problem), but she initially had everyone believe that she was offered 4k for everything, which even she has backtracked on at this point (and is getting called out for).

Where is she getting this 450 million dollar franchise minus merch from?! Saw some people saying she's probably gone on VGChartz (that ever reliable source of data, lol) and multiplied the entire lifetime sales of all SKUs combined by 60. But as well as making a dumb assumption that every title retailed for $60, she's also added total franchise sales to individual title sales. But that comes to about 8 million which multiplied by 60...
Kinda hilarious that her latest tweets also basically confirm Schreier's story.

Acquiring the Moon of Mahaa-Kalaa accessory suddenly meant you could parry, really showing how deep the combat system could go (or just make it a bit easier overall). Great game. Also on the fence regarding Bayo 2, now that I've got a Switch laying around. It seems to have refined the system even more. Eurogamer review on Bayo 3 reads as though they've lost the balance somewhat (and any plot for that matter).

I remember playing the demo for bayonetta 2 on my wii u, it was brilliant and full of old sega references if that’s your thing. Unfortunately I never bought it as I was at the end of my Nintendo life then. I’ll probably pick up an old switch in a few years when they are cheap and redundant just to play the bayonetta trilogy. I really can’t stand Nintendo games anymore though, and you can’t buy them for cheap either.
