Yes, because I want a Switch for handheld and don't already own one. I would have preferred a spec boost too but sadly not happening. Also had 60 quid of vouchers to put towards it and got 40 more for buying it so it feels a bit cheaper. Also, I like my OLED Vita screen so hoping this matches up...
Also got a pre-order in for a Steam Deck to replace my Linx Vision but that won't become until next year (Q1)...

I think so. I've been toying with the idea of buying a Switch for fucking year. I almost went for it a few weeks ago, but held off because of the upgrade rumours. It turns out the upgrade wasn't much of an upgrade, but I guess I may as well go for the OLED model.
However I'll probably talk myself out of it when the time comes.

I pre-ordered it from Argos early on but then cancelled it. I already have three Switches, plus Argos takes payment upon pre-order. I already have pre-paid pre-orders for both the Analogue Pocket (from last year!) and the Playdate. Didn't want to add to this list.
Now i feel like I want to pre-order again but I suspect most places are sold out. May try looking for it at or shortly after launch.

I put a preorder in when they went live locally, so I have one if I want it. I'll probably pick it up, and sell or give away my old one.
I don't really need the OLED but I like the white (for when it's docked at home) and I take it to the UK to play over Xmas so it's coming at the right time for my 'buy something I don't need' impulse to take over.

Having kept tabs on it, the coloured joycons version seems be selling out pretty regularly and the white version hasn't dropped out of stock.

Hi everyone  I've pre-ordered it to replace my launch Switch. I'm gonna sell the old one and hope to get around £175 for it. That means the new one will have cost me about £135 (or something). Me and my kids play the Switch a ton. We pretty much only play in TV mode, so the better battery and screen will be no advantage whatsoever. LAN and more storage is a slight help. But mainly it was just wanting to get the newest version at an upgrade cost that didn't seem so bad. And when Switch 2 finally comes along, I guess I'll get more for this OLED version when upgrading. (I think I've typed all this to justify it to myself as much as anything) If anyone has access to a Student Beans account, you can get 10% student discount off the Switch pre-order from the Nintendo store. I wish I did. Saw that on HUKD, good offer. |

Bigger screen does look good too. Add that the double internal storage and the redesigned Dock, I can see why some people might be interested.

Have to say it does look pretty spectacular next to thee olde switch. Not a new console purchase good, but that screen real estate makes for a striking first impression.

I've checked out a few of the early unboxing/comparison videos and the display seems a big improvement over the original (which imo had a decent LCD display to begin with). Definitely seems like the most premium-looking handheld Nintendo have ever made.
Of course, it's a shame that the internals haven't changed, but as a sucker for a nice OLED screen I'm still really looking forward to it.
