I’m not sure the “this was supposed to be live service” is valid either. The loot stuff reminds me way more of the newer Assassins Creed games, I think they’re more of an inspiration tbh.

The DF comparison with Arkham knight really shows this up as lacking in character and cohesive art direction. Really bizarre that they've got so many of those little decisions wrong.

I'm really enjoying this so far, though it isn't completely what I expected. The RPG aspects are a lot more pronounced than I anticipated, so you really do have to remember to equip new gear every night as you level up. There is a little room to have different gear builds but honestly it doesn't seem like all that much. With what I have I could chose to sacrifice max health to speed up momentum generation, and that's about it.

I've went with Robin as my main for now as he fits my playstyle and I love trying to take out as many enemies as possible quietly. Stealth largely works well enough that it's enjoyable to do, and later on I'll unlock more skills to be even stealthier.

I can see it getting a bit grindy later on but for now I'm still having fun.

I've not changed up at all. I'm like level 10 or so? And I don't to start again from 1. But yeah, it can get grindy if you for example, choose to do the petty crimes each night in addition to the main story quests.

It's interesting to hear Adam Jensen's VO as a certain villain. I believe he's a local Montreal actor who does a lot of projects from various Montral studios, but he'll always be Adam Jensen to me.

I think all the characters level up together so you wouldn't starting from scratch.

Not tried co-op yet, though so far it seems unnecessary. Later on I imagine it'll make some of the tankier enemies more manageable.

Yeah, I have a feeling the other characters might be more fun to play. But I chose Babs early on and I'm being stubborn about switching.

I think it's cool how the story cutscenes seemed tuned to whomever you're playing as. Like if you had told me this was a single player Batgirl game, I'd believe you.

I’m changing it up so I can unlock the knighthood and the extra momentum stuff. It’s all per character so ignoring that will probably make switching characters later harder. The combat isn’t quite so button mashing as the early impressions made it seem, if you just hammer x then everyone’s a damage sponge, but if you use timed strikes and perfect attacks they go down pretty quickly, even the mini bosses.

I like how packed it is with deep cuts of lore here and there too. Though I have noticed the oddity that they apparently can’t use the name “Joker”, as he’s always talked about as “my greatest enemy” or “Harley’s ex”, but never explicitly named.

Playing this a bit more and have been following the #gkpotomode tag on twitter, to see what fellow gamers have been posting. In the game, somewhere, there are tributes to comic book artists Neal Adams and George Perez. My word. How lovely and touching. I genuinely think that this game has been judged too harshly. Similarly to when the world decided that Lost Odyssey was a better game than Blue Dragon.

I honestly think they shot themselves in the foot making it a full priced game, especially the nu-school $70 price point. If this were a $40 release it would have been pretty well received imo. It’s by no means a bad game, and I’m enjoying it a fair bit, but it’s absolutely stuck in the shadow of Arkham.

I don't think it's THAT slow, but it does feel slower than say, the bikes in Cyberpunk, which I was playing right before this.

This game has the vehicle waypoint navigation that I prefer in open world titles. Big glowy arrows underneath your vehicle navigating you to your destination. Not some little dots on a minimap in the corner of the screen.

Yeah I'm slowly doing the drones. I can now glide as well which makes traversal a bit more fun.

I reckon the bike would look a bit faster if they got rid of those stupid go faster wisps that instantly appear.

Enjoying this though, it’s pretty cool.
