As an outsider to the franchise, Martin feels like an absolute irrelevance these days who should know that selling off your book rights might not match the source material.
He seems like a very strange person to me, who happened to make a gajillion from writing, can't be arsed to do it anymore but is still pretending he cares.
Hot take?

It doesn't feel that strange to me. The guy's lost all motivation to finish these things, but is still struggling to let go. I can sympathize with that, even if I don't agree with what he says.

Yeah itās not a hot take at all. Thatās nail on the head. I enjoyed the first two GOT books very much but Iām not investing any further reading time because I donāt believe it ever gets finished. Instead he goes on to write Fire and Blood, Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, miscellaneous short story stuff and all the blogging. Strikes me that he has the talent but not the focus, and heās an old man in poor shape.
