Despite having read Fire and Blood the show still excites and moves the crap out of me. I may know what is going to happen, but it doesn't matter, it's incredible. Even the stuff they have added gives the characters nore depth. Latest episode was amazing.

Agree with baihu's spoiler though and exactly what I said. Daft.

Fun episode but I didn’t get why OldLady returned to fight PatchMan (when she’d obviously lose) rather than continue to safely fly home and tell everyone that she’d seen him kill MopHead .

Up for interpretation but you can see it as a redemption of sorts for not taking her chance to incinerate the whole lot of them when she escaped Kings Landing last season. She had a steadfast sense of duty and honor where she feels like she could prob take out the worst of them right there even though she knows she will probably die from it. Believe the actress even described it as akin to the act of a Samurai, to carrynthe duty through no matter what.

I was thinking this too. But perhaps that wouldn't have been useful anyway. He was obviously an awful king and now they are going to be even worse off, so she maybe thought she might have well try to take down the much more dangerous brother, suicidal as it was. Was a bloody brilliant episode.

I mean you don’t know how damaged Vhaegar is or how long he will take to recover either. It may well prove to have created some Smaug style weakness that comes in later.

Possibly looking to avenge Lucerys death but also worth noting in the books/show her Dragon is considered a match for Vhagar in a 1 on 1.
She was leaving when she got killed Still that shot of Vhagar walking along the ground might be one of my favourite shots in this and thrones. So how long needs to pass before they can just do A Song of Ice and Fire again and not mess up the story once they get to books 4 and 5? And even certain parts of the first 3 books. Cause this team seem more likely to do it properly.

My interpretation was that: If she had fled the forces and remaining dragon would have taken Rook's Rest - which was the whole reason she flew out to defend. She was fighting a losing battle but it was her mission, dammit.
Personally... For me doing the same finishing move twice was a bit cheap. Yes it's a callback but it's not exactly the "Ilia Martel!!!" moment from the Viper and the Mountain in the "Oh Shit!" stakes.

It's funny how sites like the mail try to decide when incest is a bit much with this show. Like it's okay the rest of the time.
Though, we get it. The place is haunted.

Was good that. I like the slower episodes.
We are currently doing a whole run of GoT in parallel and the difference in pace is, forgive the pun, stark.
I don’t prefer one approach to the other and part of me really appreciates this haunting quality HOTD is affecting.

I liked that episode too. Olivia Cooke in the Green Council just silently seething and contemplating was so powerful. Seen other people complain there's not enough fighting but I enjoy the politicking and power shifting every bit as much. I guess I understand people's perspective in that it's an 8 episode season and the wait since the end of S1 was long enough that this could feel disappointing for those who wanted more warfare. But you gotta make it make sense otherwise, we get S8.
Also, I did instinctively catch on that Simon did turn to look at Alys Rivers as he walked past her, to suggest she is real, but if you keep watching her, she does disappear.

My mum asked me the other day if I watched this and said some of her friends claimed nothing happens in it. The way she mentioned it made me think they want it Avengers style like GoT ended up going towards the end of 7 and series 8.
I think the show has a solid mix of it all.
Jacaerys Velaryons actor is doing a really good job this season(they all are for that matter but he's stood out in recent episodes.

Enjoyed that! A slower episode with lots of pieces moving on the board.
I do enjoy a recap video after the episode too just to catch a few (quite a few actually) bits I missed in the moment.
Shit’s gonna go down at some point, but patience is key I think.

I really enjoy the slower pace of this season even if it seems like everyone else is lamenting about the lack of action. I appreciate the setup, plans in motion etc, it's all shot well and acted even better. That said I do hope the Daemon hallucinations come to a head soon. I enjoy them, probes a little deeper into Daemon and I'm glad Viserys come back in a vision . But I did not think we would get 4 straight episodes of it in an 8 episode season.

The Daemon stuff is easily the worst bit. Hoping they can somehow make it worthwhile!
Gotta say that one had some good bits but not quite enough going on. Hopefully they'll make up for it next week!

So after season one did they just kill Laenor off screen? Cause the lore is Dragons won't bond with another while the rider is still alive. Unless they are going to go with the it just believes him to be dead?

Yeah, definitely bored with the Daemon stuff now. Otherwise, 2 good episodes. Didn't realise it was only 8 episode season though.

Really enjoyed that one (gay snogging and all, up yours homophobes). The Daemon stuff is getting quite tedious though, besides giving an excuse for Paddy Considine to make a reappearance. It has just been the same thing each episode, so hopefully we will have a battle for Harernhal next episode to move that along. Lots of great individual scenes though in that episode. Plenty of pieces moving across the board. I think each episode could probably have a few minutes trimmed from them, but definitely been enjoying this season more and more as it goes on.

There are too many council meetings. Although they are sometimes good ( eg. One-eye putting everyone in their place) they are a bit repetitive.
It also suffers a bit from people hundreds of miles away always knowing what's going on everywhere else.
Still enjoying it though

"Incest where an uncle grooms his niece from an early age Im ok with, but a kiss between two adult women Im NOT ok with" Someone said that Daemons story is rewatching S1 of the show and that did make me laugh. About Seasmoke I know in the books they mention that bond between a dragon and its rider, but did they ever mention it in the show? If a dragon can even detect where its rider is it wouldnt explain why Seasmoke couldnt just find Laenor. If he did die I think the show would make that more clear so that the passing of Seasmoke to a new rider would make more sense. I think perhaps the more simplified reason why Seasmoke takes on Adam is because hes restless and he reminds him of Laenor. But perhaps theyll explain it later I think the Green Council scenes are some of the best on the show, there's usually some new dynamic to it each time like a new person at the table to keep it interesting. It's the Black Council scenes that seem lacking

You’d think anybody watching this was already into GoT and therefore desensitised to any gay scenes tbh, but c*nts gotta c*nt. I also take it those review bombing this one episode aren’t familiar with Emma D’arcy and their gender identity.
D’arcy is the standout actor in this for me and that’s against some very stiff competition.

They're great, the kiss actually was their suggestion apparently. Some of the shows best moments seems to come from actors suggestions, Matt Smith suggested the shot to walk away from the camera with Rhaenyra at the end of S1 as he tells the news about Luc. Ewan Mitchell as Aemond has his whole thing about using the coin, spinning in between his fingers as his plan unfolds, stopping it at the slightest inconvenience. They know what they're doing.

My take on the kiss. Character has been shown to be hetro, hetro. Episode is a bit bogged down, how can we spice it up?
Actor is non-binary and suggested the kiss? People get in trouble for that sort of thing.

What character is 100% hetero exactly? Mysaria? Because it's been coded that Rhaenyra and Alicent had some kind of feelings for each other. It reads like something that felt like it worked for the actors so what does it matter? They even acknowledge that they didnt want the scene to feel like just queer bait. Mysaria's actor talks about it here www.thewrap.com/house-of-the-dragon-mysaria-rhaenyra-kiss-sonoya-mizuno-interview/
