I decided to drastically reduce my fondness for the devils lettuce. I stopped smoking for years when I moved to Belgium purely as I had no contacts to find any. This coincided well with the birth of 2 kids so aside from the occasional trip to the Netherlands where I would have some while we were there I probably went 7 years without any. Then we moved to Spain and for a couple of years didn't really think about it until I read an article on it's pseudo legality here and thought why not have a crack at growing some seeing as you can and the climate is good for it. Plenty of quality genetics available so every year I order a batch of seed to grow a couple of plants outdoors. And inevitably around about feb/march I run out and am stuck waiting for the next lot to grow. I was super surprised by how easy it is to give it up just as long as you have no access to it at all. Not like cigs anyway which I'm still working on and is really the one I need to stop. |

The trick is to have so many outrageous incidents that nobody knows what to tag you with, so that by the time "Boozy Danno" is starting to stick, folk are already blabbering about "Gravy rug muncher" You need to arrange for one of us to defect to a Eurogamer premium subscription next. |

When I was having to meet people for it, I'd often not be bothered with the classic "I'm 5 minutes away" rubbish. Once I realised that I could order stuff that made Amsterdam coffee shops look like budget and have it dropped through my letterbox often 'tor-to-door' in 24 hours at better prices, it was a slippery slope! It got to a point I was regularly having a half ounce drop through my letter box every 7-10 days from all over the UK, occasionally Spain and until my favourite 'website' shut down I was getting things directly from California. It was a great time but I dread to think how much money I was literally burning! It took a long while and the first few weeks I was not a nice person to be around (my partner did well to not stab me in my sleep... when I managed to get any sleep that is!) but once that had passed I realised it was more a me problem than a problem with smoking in general. I can't lie, I am looking forward to the summer again where I can smoke outside whilst reading a book or with my morning coffee... though the baby will probably put an end to that. But for the most part, right in the here and now, I don't miss being all consumed by it. |

Danno, well done for recognising you've got a problem and you can't resolve it on your own. That's a positive. Alcohol is very very addictive and can destroy lives (look at Boris...bet he wishes he was tee total now) and it can be a right git to cut down.
Hope this group give you the support you need to turn it around and get control of your life again. I'm about 6 years sober and all I can say is I wish I'd quit years earlier. I'm fact I wish I'd never started. My life is better without it.Much better.
Hang in there. You can do it.
