Anyone had Error Code: 9001-2470 before? Getting it all the time now. With card or PayPal. Tried different cards etc and no joy. Happened to me when I first got my Switch. Didn’t know what was going on as every card I tried to pay with, and PayPal, had the same issue. Worked fine on other platforms, so appears to an issue with Nintendo I reckon, but some people reported having success fiddling with router settings. With me, i tried again a few weeks later and everything was ok. Its annoying as the only way I could get anything in the e store at the time was by buying gift cards for credit on Amazon

I had this! I went through Nintendo support and my bank, who both passed the blame to each other. It lasted a good month or two as well. In the end I had to log into Wi-Fi at somebody else’s house and make a purchase there to fix the issue.
No clue if that’s exactly what fixed it, but that was the moment it worked again.

I’ve tried it on two different networks via the switch and online on various devices. Even called my bank! Bit of a pain.

It’s so annoying. Especially as this console is my primary console. Missed out on a few sales too. You can buy a points card from Amazon and apply that in the mean time, but it’s obviously just a temporary solution.
I’d definitely try and get in touch with Nintendo support and tell them you e already checked with your bank that the card you use isn’t blocked or has some kind of protection restricting online purchases.

Unfortunately, unless you can find your own fix via tinkering I don’t think there is anything you do except wait for it to work again.
Nintendo will say it’s not them and banks will say all your cards are fine.
Who knows what the exact reason is, but I’d never heard of this issue until it happened to me with Nintendo’s eShop, and it’s never occurred before or since with any other company.

I contacted Nintendo but guess in the meantime I’ll need to grab a card and just keep the extra credit in my account. Hmph.

I’ve been maximising my time off work this week to get some gaming done (rinsing Resident Evil 2 on Xbox for the most part), but I am finally returning to the biggest shame of my Switch backlog; Advanced Wars 1&2! I’ve decided to start over as I got around 20 missions into the first game and know I’ll need to re-learn some things in order to really stand a chance. I am really impressed with how it looks though.
I know it’s a pretty bland style compared to the originals, but I do find the new look very charming. Plastic soldiers on a toy-like chess board. I think it works very nicely on the big screen.
Here’s hoping I can see at least the first game through to the end this time. I think Tears of the Kingdom put an end to my previous efforts.

I have been dabbling in arcade and puzzle games such as Magical Drop, Puzzle Bobble, Sokoban and that sort of thing. I mostly see myself playing similar stuff in future as it doesn't really become boring and the Switch is the perfect platform to pick up and play for 10 minutes here and there. There are a big stack of first party games or other big games that I didn't bother to pick up for one reason or another.
I'm wondering whether I should start adding some of them to my collection or whether what I already have - must be more than 80 games between digital and physical - is more than enough to last me for a really long time to come. I don't think I have completed a game for the past 3 or 4 years. My current thinking about the Switch 2 is that I will only consider buying one if it's backwards compatible with Switch games. If not, I think I'm good with what I have for the Switch, at least for the next several years.

I saw you playing that Puzzle Bobble game. I didn’t know that one even existed. Or I confused it with Bubble Bobble 4 Friends like a fool. What’s it like? I have fond memories of 2, 3, 4 and Super Puzzle Bobble on the Playstation back in the day.

The new one, Bubble Bobble Everybubble, is decent. I'm only really playing the single player campaign and the ai versus mode. I just wanted to get one that isn't an arcade port as those versions are very difficult. I'm trying to build up a collection of evergreen games. I got it on sale but if you're not in a hurry then wait until it's £10-15.

Nice! I think I will. I do have the arcade port of the original, but it’s 25 levels and you have infinite credits, so no matter how hard it is you can eventually drag yourself over the finish line.
I’m trying to think of other potential evergreen titles you might like. I fall back on Stardew Valley and Animal Crossing far too often, so I can’t really think of anything at the moment!
Edit - I’m also knee deep in a backlog of games that I really should have finished years ago, so I shouldn’t be looking at/for such games!

I trying to have a collection of evergreen, replayable games that are playable in short bursts. I will probably always want to play this sort of stuff from time to time. You don't even need the latest iteration, just a version that works on your platform of choice. I suppose that's why I'm not too bothered about immediately getting the Switch 2.
I prefer home console versions as while you can credit stuff arcade games it's not quite the same experience and they can become ridiculously difficult.
My quick play, evergreen collection has this sort of stuff:
- Puzzle Bobble - Puyo Puyo - Tetris - Mr Driller - Space Invaders / various retro shmups etc. - Qix - Sokoban - Bomberman - S/NES - the simpler, more focused games that have a tight gameplay loop and still play and control well today - Mini Metro / Motorway - Invisible Inc. - Rogue likes / turn based strategy with random setups - Games with infinite modes, daily, timed / score attack modes, leaderboards etc.
I suppose I have moved away from long, narrative or story based games and prefer short experiences on the whole. I'm not getting any younger so spending more than 10-15 hours on a game is a big ask!
Edit - plus some of the Atari Recharged games like Centipede, Black Widow and Yars, especially. Plus Pacman Museum. All good games.

All great shouts. I haven’t played mini-motorways in a long while, but I did get into the daily challenges in a big way! Again, I think Zelda came and took me away from everything I was playing for almost 5 months.
I do still have Dead Cells and Spelunky at hand for quick fixes, but they take some investment to get good at. Fallout Shelter was also a great pick up and play kinda game. Very chill.
Have a look at a video for Overland. Not sure if that’s your cup of tea, but it’s kinda like a Post-Apocalyptic Monster-Survival, tile-based Rogue-like. Each run is around 20 minutes to an hour and you’re essentially just scavenging areas for survivors, fuel and gear, whilst dodging monsters that could wipe you out if you get too greedy.
It’s a good cup of tea kinda game. Although one I have admittedly not put a great deal of time into. Maybe around 10 hours so far?

How have I never heard of Donut Dodo?! It genuinely looks like my perfect game. I’ve put enough time into Donkey Kong, Wrecking Crew and Burger Time on this console already. This looks bloody amazing!

It's a roguelike platformer where the level layout changes every 24 hours, and everyone plays the same layout with leaderboards etc The platforming is on point and it's got that "just one more go" feeling. It's only about £6 on the eshop at the moment Here's a quick review www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZ9usk2oo2g

Good suggestions of games I hadn't heard of. Thanks!
My most played retro style game is Arcade Archives City Connection. You control a car and have to paint platforms by moving over them while shooting other cars, and avoiding a pesky cat and spikes.
It has a nice sense of inertia in its controls. Good for both point farming a level by intentionally not completing it, or trying to loop through all the levels.

Has anyone had any issues with severe input lag with wireless switch controllers?
We have one 1st party and one 3rd party controller, and the 3rd party one seems to randomly get very severe input lag. Like you'll press the jump button and 2 seconds later it'll jump.
It's very random though. It works fine some days, and then will just suddenly get the lag. Then it'll seem to fix itself. Then it'll lag again.
And it seems to affect some games more than others. It'll show up occasionally in Minecraft, but seems to show up consistently in Rayman Legends (great game btw, if not for the lag!)
It works fine when using it wired with the PC.

Very, very rarely I've had it randomly disconnect (could probably count on one hand how often it has happened), but besides that using a 3rd party controller seems to work well. And, yes, Rayman Legends is great!

Some Bluetooth issues can be interference from other nearby devices so check for that. I get it with mice on the pc sometimes and moving stuff usually fixes it.

This may come in handy for some here, my Nintendo Online subscription had come to an end, and Nintendo were emailing me an offer of 500 Gold coins (worth £5) if I resubscribed. So I followed the link in the email and saw that it's still £17.99, so basically £12.99 with the offer. Checked CDKeys and they had codes for £12.79, so rather than faff around with Gold coins I just did the CDKeys code and redeemed it through my Nintendo account in a browser. Lo and behold, I've just received an email from Nintendo thanking me for resubscribing and confirming my 500 Gold points! So £7.79 This might be a well-known thing I wasn't aware of, just thought I'd throw it in here in case it helps anyone.

Phoenix Wright trilogy + The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles is on sale for £16 as a bundle. That's a bargain.

Has anyone played Hogwarts Legacy on the Switch?
It sounds like the graphics aren't as good and there's some texture loading etc.. but if it's the only platform available is it still worth playing?

It doesn’t look like it. From what I know about it on Switch, it’s no longer open-world. There are loading screens between areas, but performance seems to hold pretty solidly at 30fps.
It’s one of those games that folk who own it seem to be happy with it. Especially if they have kids. But those who don’t own it are horrified by its existence.

I'm hoping we'd fall into the former category, as it's the kids that want it, they have never owned a PS5 or XboxMinus1 or a high end PC, so they don't have much experience with high end graphics. (They spend most of their time playing Minecraft or Roblox (which it definitely looks better than) and Fortnite or Pokemon Scarlet (which it doesn't).
Was hoping someone had actually given it a go. I wonder if it has a demo....
