Get out!
New Star Trek (and Crusade before that I guess) has taught me to keep my optimism in check on these things but damn I hope it's good.

Ugh, the 1993 makeup designs in "The Gathering" are really disturbingly different when you watch them back now. G'kar looks more snake like with the more angular face and somehow his neck looks thinner, Londos' wig just looks like it's on backwards, and Delenn... I understand what they were going for, but... no.

The synopsis with the alternate realities reminded me of something I read recently here:
The undeveloped episode "Dream Within A Dream" would have had a comatose G'Kar hallucinating a reality where everyone was playing altered roles:

Sounds like something I’ve actually seen. Maybe I’m thinking of the Sisko sequences in DS9 where he was the sci-fi writer.

I always found those kinds of episodes really annoying. I assume the actors like them because they get to be more 'challenged' by doing different impressions.

That wasn't rendered on an Amiga!

They used 500 Amiga 500s.

That's like one Amiga 250000! We still didn't get any images of the actual animation, right? I'm having trouble imagining how it's going to work. Trying to be realistic is going to be all uncanny valley, and anything too cartoony or anime is going to be weird. I'm really in the mood to watch B5 at the moment, but they took it off Freevee before I finished season one.

I was planning a rewatch with the HD 'remasters' but hadn't realised it had gone from FreeVee until I looked last week. Seems to be on nothing in the UK that doesn't require a purchase though. Apple Plus seemed to be cheapest to buy. Shame they seem unlikely to release a Blu Ray set.

Yeah, on the one hand I was kinda surprised they released them on Freevee in the first place, but on the other hand it was weird that they took them off so quickly. Then they didn't even put them on Prime, just straight to Buy only.

The trailer looks pretty good, there's certainly lots of things exploding.

John & Sheridan's Excellent Adventure.
Animation works better than I was expecting. Not sure about the jumping through different realities plotline as (a) that's been done to death at this point, and (b) it means nothing really matters.
But I was almost emotional about seeing some of those characters again.

The voice work against the animation looks kinda janky.
But I did feel emotional just seeing those characters again

I've reached the Legend Of The Rangers point in my rewatch. The first 30 minutes aren't all that bad. More G'kar is always good, and as far as I know this is the only time he's seen between departing the station with Lyta at the end of season 5, and his final scene with Mollari years later.
I really like the establishing shots of the Ranger facility on Minbar. It looks far more like Delenn's description of the crystal-cut cities than anything previously seen.
I hadn't realised when I watched it before that Tannier, the Minbari captain of the Valen, was a returning character from season 5 of the show.
It's interesting how Na'Feel the Narn engineer seems like a prototype for Kaylee from Firefly, in the first scene where David asks about the broken engines she all but says "Everything's shiny, Captain!"
The holographic weapon chamber is still laughably stupid. She's kicking weapon blasts towards the enemy ship while backflipping and facing the other direction and expects to have any kind of accuracy, and that's the battle before the one where she appears to go bat-shit mental? It's like someone madly clicking the mouse during the on-rails space combat of The Old Republic, but with more screaming.
The makeup job on Kafta is dodgy as fuck. Looks like they ran out of paint and left it blank.
I'd completely forgotten about the " Dulann sees dead people" sub-plot. I imagine if they'd done any more of these, they would have explored the mystery of who betrayed the original crew of the Liandra and left them to suffocate in space.
I think one of the biggest reasons this feels different to the rest of the B5 movies is the music. It isn't bad, it's actually quite good for the most, but because it's not Christopher Franke it seems like a big departure from the norm.
It was interesting how they linked this to Thirdspace, in that The Hand were worshippers of the Thirdspace aliens even a billion years later.
Watched River Of Souls last night, otherwise known as "Lovejoy causes a holo-brothel to go insane".
What the Soul Hunters did to the Ralga was even more horrific than their usual soul-harvesting. Martin Sheen is delightfully off-kilter. Apparently he originally auditioned for the archaeologist role, but asked to play the Soul Hunter instead when that went to Ian McShane.
The scene with Dr Franklin just screams "Contractual obligation", in the sense that they quite literally already had someone in Ralga makeup they could have used for that and it wouldn't have altered the scene one iota.
Interesting to note B5 being ahead of its' time regarding Zach asking about the consensual use of a persons image, twenty years before the horrible advent of deepfake porn.
A Call To Arms is up next. I don't remember much about that one, other than it being the set-up for Crusade, introducing Galen, and Sheridan having a dodgy haircut.

Oh nice. I already have the DVDs, but if these are a good improvement I may have to upgrade.
Sounds like it might not be as extensive as the DVD set though. They just mention 110 episodes and the pilot. So, no movies and no Crusade?

St6oll waiting for UK preorders and price as I have no idea if WB region lock theior blurays.

Disappointing they haven't remastered the films. Understandable why they haven't bothered with Crusade though.
Still, they could have included them all in SD. More incentive to get this if it had everything and I would be able to CEX my DVD set.

It's not perfect but it's very good and the actors they've got to replace the sadly departed members of the cast do a decent job, the G'Kar seems the most off but how the fuck do you replicate Andreas Katsulas? Answer : you can't.
The animation and production is certainly an order of magnitude better than a lot of Warner Brothers Animation that I've seen, the station has certainly never looked better.
Hopefully this is just the beginning...

Nice. I accidentally watched Signs and Portents from season 1 again yesterday, and it was much better than I was expecting. Looks lovely in HD too.
(I'd started watching s1 when it was on Freevee, but the early episodes didn't totally grab me, and then it disappeared from there)

I have preordered the Blu-Ray for the remastered series, a little pricy but I prefer that to paying digitally on Apple for it...
May have to look into this sequel too as hadn't realised it was out this soon.

I enjoyed The Road Home, although if I have one complaint it's that in terms of character design, Lochleys' eyes are about 80% too small.
