Which lens(es) did you opt for in the end? Good trip?

23mm 1.4 and 16-55 2.8, which worked out pretty well. Could have maybe done with something wider. But then again there are a million photos of the NY skyline already

Wow, I'm extremely impressed with Lightroom's AI denoise feature. Amazing results in my opinion

Pure Raw is very good too, if not slightly better by all accounts.

Quick one from this morning. Just some droplets on a table but I like it.

This week on a post-work walk around the lake near me, the sun hit a window in the restaurant at the foot of the lake, so that the reflection created brilliant ripples on the water where the gulls were circling back and forth, eating flies. I took a little while to try and line up some bird in flight shots just above the golden patterns on the water’s surface. It was definitely a bit of a challenge to consistently track the subjects, but these ones came out pretty well I think.

Nice one! It seems to be pretty much all I'm photographing lately. I find it really satisfying.

Let's see if this works Went to the pond to try and get some squirrels close to dusk, on epopped out on the ground a couple of times in relative light but then kept running for cover. Then went high in the trees. Gone for B&W as had to whack the ISO right up

I've just dug out my old E-M10 II. I wish I didn't sell a bunch of lenses as I only have a 17mm..

I mainly like taking photos of random stuff close up, which it is ideal for. It's also decent for portraits but my partner doesn't like her photo taken and yeah not going to photograph random people

No idea about the second, Pete, but first is a damselfly I think. Second probably is too, they're just smaller in general.

I really need to get a macro lens, but just about managed to get some dragonfly photos I am currently having fun trying to decide which macro lens to gwt for my EOS200D, having never owned one. The curent contenders seem to the a preowned Canon 100L for the IS and autofocus for handheld insects, or the manual, nonstabilised Laowa 100 with 2x macro capability. The only other lens I looked at was a longer preowned Canon 180L but not sure if I need that and again lacks IS (but has AF IIRC). I am guessing the 100L will be the easiest to use but the 2x Laowa might have more utility if I can get the hang of it (not sure how much actual tripod use I would gwt outbof it...) My planned usage is mainly insects and wild stuff but may be used on some stationary things too.

Get one with autofocus, you’ll regret it if you don’t
Edit - I searched on mpb.com for Canon macro lenses and there’s frigging loads of them across a wide price range
I had the Sigma 50mm 2.8 macro for a while and had a lot of fun with it. It broke eventually so I’m not truly recommending it but you can get something decent for not much money at all

With APSC I am thinking 100mmish for ideal mid range focal length and focal distances. The shorter ones seem to be more useful for things that don't run or fly away. Half the reson I bought a DSLR was macro options, but that was 2018...
