Is your wife into photography, know what I mean?
I've been toying with upgrading my camera to a newer model for over a year and today I finally bit the bullet. I'm now awaiting delivery on a Fujifilm X-T4 which is way more camera than I'll ever need, and I'll probably never have the skill to get the most out of it, but I cannot wait! I've been using a Fuji X-T10 for 5 and a half years and it's a great little camera. I love how it processes the images I take compared to, say, an iPhone or similar.
Anyone else into using an actual camera when out and about or do you stick to the smartphone these days?

I've still got my X100 (the OG X series camera!), Canon 450D, and Fuji X-T100. I decided to spend money on new lens (Tamron 18-300) rather than new Fuji body but want to get something like the X-T4 next year.
One of the reasons I like Fuji and still use them are the physical controls, going into menus and fiddling with settings is too annoying. Not that I do much, but optical view finder on X100 and Canon allow me to use strobes effectively in a studio setting

I have been using Canon DSLR's for about 10 years now, love them. Originally I got one for astrophotography use but quickly started using them for everyday photos and stuff. I wouldn't be without it on a trip, day out or anything these days. Shooting in RAW has too many benefits, love the flexibility of that and that it can help with the often found user errors.

Never been into photography much but recently started work on various film projects so I quite fancied getting myself a behind the scenes/stills camera and also something I can play around and have fun with.
Ended up going for a Fuji X-100V (Silver). Something about Fuji colours and the way out has "recipes" that can be used to gain certain film looks.
Shooting on a Sony A7iii which is fine for what I need at the moment. Although I'm eyeing up a BlackMagic Pocket 4K but I won't be getting that until autumn next year by the looks of things.

Probably better suited to a Photoshop/Design type thread, but I couldn't find one. This is completely mental (impressive I mean, although also a little depressing as it kind of points towards a future where photographers are a little redundant almost):

I downloaded that last week but it wanted to install a new driver which I didn't know if it would change my current setting so decided not to faff with any of it. It's definitely a cool concept, maybe I'll revisit it.

Bloody hell!
Actually, in the same ballpark, I downloaded Pixelmator Photo this week for iPad. So far I’ve been really impressed with its ability to do a bit of post processing on the fly. It’s “healing/repair” tool is the best I’ve seen too.

I can and will work to refine this so it's not just a little squiggle but light painting with the star Sirius is amazingly fun. The colour changes because the star scintillates especially if the atmosphere is turbulent. It's a bit silly and totally against everything I normally would do with stars because you want stability and focus. Good easy fun though.

Thinking of trying to get back into photography(last digital camera I owned was a 400D back in the mid 2000s I think?) and doing some beginner courses. Was having a bit of a peruse on YT and came across quite a few reviews that recommended a Fuji X-T200, so it was a nice surprise to come on here and everyone being pretty positive about their cameras!
Just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or alternative recommendations? Quite like the fact it doesn't seem half bad for video too if I ever decide to go down that road.

I'm loving my Fuji, but I can't speak to the X-T200 as I haven't used that one. There's a range of different styles and sizes out there so definitely try and get a hold of a few to see which suits your hands.
Do you still have the 400D? If so it might be worth you carrying that around with you to remind yourself of what it's like to go out with a camera rather than just the phone - just to see if it's really what you want to do.

I got an EOS 1300D years ago and have probably used it 10 times or so. Really need to pull my finger out and get back into it, but it's too easy to just think "meh, I've got a camera on my phone. No need to lug that around"

Yeah, I've been feeling the same over the last year. Carrying around the 6D and lenses is just such a faff. Phone is just so convenient.

Those fuji cameras look the business, no experience with them though. And pricey by the look of it. I spent my afternoon in the sun in the middle of lavender bushes and swarms of bees. Kind of terrifying.

How do you upload pictures on here guys?
I’ve got a Fuji film xt 200 and can recommend . But I haven’t got much to compare to as I’m quite new to proper photography.
I want to get the 90mm f2 lense but it’s more than the camera itself

Invest in lenses and only upgrade the body of you have a compelling need, by the time I upgrade my X-T100 I’ll have a decent range of lenses

Just traded in my Sony A7iii towards getting the A7IV. They've got them in stock the the London Camera Exchange in Manchester.
Been playing around with it a little. A beast of a camera ideal for a beast of a master!

I'm still using an older Sony A6300 and wondering if anyone had experience with a Samyang 12mm Emount lens either MF or AF?
Impending trip to New York, Washington DC and San Francisco later this month and I'm wondering if a 12mm lens would be a benefit for capturing some of the verticality, particularly in NYC?
Seems many folks use them for astrophotography but I quite fancy one for wider street scenes etc.

I like Samyang lenses, no experience with a 12mm lens though but I have a 24mm which is a great all rounder. Brilliant for landscapes and even macro stuff. I imagine a 12 would be great for street or as you say vertical stuff especially in big, busy cities like that. I would definitely run my 24mm if I was doing such a trip so think a 12mm would be a good option. Also great for astro stuff but you really need to be out in the country for best effect. I think it'd be a great piece of kit.
I want to go all in on film, grab a decent film scanner and jump in. I have an old Hanimex dignette that I hope would still work and am thinking of grabbing a Diana F+ or something similar for medium format. Would love to mess about with expired film and such things. Only issue is I don't get out much to utilise it all, still think I will though.

I had their 14mm/f2.8 for my Sony A7. It was massive: I note they've been able to refine it now - and that 12mm looks tiny in comparison - but the OG version had about 2 inches of 'tube' so that it worked nicely with a mirrorless camera.
The image quality was mostly good, but things were definitely blurry and distorted at the edges. I might have got away with it for natural landscapes, but I suspect it will be more evident on man-made structures. Are you OK with the potential for fish-eye when you're up close with your subjects?
