Cheers all, I'm wary of going 'too fisheye'- some shots may be interesting but I was hoping to avoid issues of framing when stepping back isn't an option. From a few images I've seen online it didn't seem to distort too badly. Some lack of focus at the edges for sure, though taking it up some fstops may help?
I'm concerned that some NYC street/building photos may be somewhat constrained with my stock 16-50mm and the 55-210mm I have won't be much use unless I'm taking details of decent panoramas.

I’m looking at purchasing either the Sony 24mm GM or the 16-35 F4 PZ.
I’ve already got the 35 and 85 F1.8. This is for video only. Thinking of doing the PZ to be honest. But still not sure.

My Fujifilm X-T4 has started giving me an error on boot-up intermittently so I've very quickly decided to box it up and send back to the shop for investigation under warranty. Can't say I was happy when the DPD van turned up to collect :/

I have a hair on my sensor that I can't seem to move. Might just get a new camera.

ha ha. I love that we share an irrational hive-mind. My Fujifilm XT4 was back at the shop this month after it started intermittently giving me a weird error. Sensor replaced under warranty and all seems well. A little concerning though, as I treat my gear with kid gloves. Nice to get out with it again this weekend mind you. http://instagram.com/p/CjAL-oos3FE

Don't think I can this year as I want a decent film scanner(Canon 9000F) and then get a cheap Holga and Lomo to play around with. I love the idea of using old or damaged film on those crappy cameras to see what I can come up with.

My 700D is a workhorse, it's worn, dirty, dusty and gets left out all night sometimes in dew and then the baking morning sun. Sometimes it gets a bit wet while shooting storms but am careful on that one. I basically use it daily at this point in and around the garden, I'm on a macro bug binge. It's a beast of a little camera really so if a dirty sensor is my biggest issue then I can't complain. The jacks for the remote shutter and file transfer though are iffy.

Out of curiosity, what would a dirty sensor mean to the picture quality of a photo? Is it something really apparent?

You'd have splodges (shadowy dots) over your final image.

Most of the time it wouldn't even be noticeable. I only noticed the hair because I took some pics using the full zoom at longer focal lengths. Just ordered a new cleaning kit, it's very frustrating once you know about it.

Sony are releasing a new camera today, There’s a presentation at 3pm BST.
I absolutely love my A7IV. Significantly better than the A7iii that I traded in to get it. I’m looking at getting a used 24mm F1.4 GM but I think I’ll use that cash and get a Black Magic Pocket 4K as I pretty much do video work exclusively. Want to use vintage Canon FD lenses as well as Meike cine lenses.
It’s all jolly good fun.

I will do when they are done. It takes an awful long time though. But having a lot of fun in the process.
ETA? Will probably be the end of next year to be honest.

Love a bit of Lomo, I have an LC-A and Coloursplash, you can get some great fun/mad effects, though film and developing will add up fast. Unless tou have your own chemicals, labs that xpro aren't super easy to find either these days.

I think I've settled on the Diana F+ and then find a similarly cheap and playful 35mm, although there are so many cool cameras lomo make it'll likely be the first of many. I have an old Hanimex Dignette here too which I'm hoping still works. I'm not too bothered by developing, hence the film scanner. It is pricier than what I wanted to pay but seems to do the job very well. Also tempted by their cardboard camera with a liquid filled lens.

Anyone got a recommendation for a camera for a 4 year old? Our eldest has one of those proper cheap ‘kids’ cameras (one of these: amzn.eu/d/1GZ12Pt )but it’s virtually impossible to get it to a picture that’s even close to in focus. I don’t want much but 1 in 10 photos being something more than a blurry mess would be nice. I don’t want to spend loads as she will be 4 after all.

It was so long ago now and I'm sure things have changed but we got Vtech cameras for ours, I think they spent more time playing games on them. Still have them and think they even survived in working order. Unless you want to look at the Andoer stuff, cheap but nowhere near as fun for a 4 yo.
Oh and I ended up getting the Epson V600, need to tidy a spot to set it up and finish shooting a roll of B&W film so I can scan the film and see what I have. Can't wait.

Found my old Nikon D40 up in the loft. I thought it must’ve gone missing in the move so its been up there nearly six years. The loft is the hottest room in the house through the summer and coldest in winter. Its not a loft conversion type room either, its just attic storage space.
The camera was stored in a soft case with the battery pack removed. It looks like it managed to stay dry but not ruling out general condensation.
I had the battery pack on the charger for two days over the weekend and the charge light blinked the whole time without ever turning solid for full charge. Whenever I tried sticking it back into the camera there was zero life.
I think its most likely the battery being bricked but how likely is it that it could be the camera is done for too?
It was bought 2007/08 and has been in the loft since winter 16/17

Batteries die more easily than cameras do so chances are it's that. Could easily be both though.

I'm thinking about having a bit of a fresh start with photography, having kinda fallen out of the habit / hobby over the last few years.
Does anyone use Lightroom on ipad and if so is it any good? I have found myself being super lazy with editing RAW files using my old laptop and my old version of Lightroom. I feel like I'd be much more inclined if I had a more convenient method.

Lightroom on the iPad is a pretty decent version from the trial I used. I’ve gone for Darkroom though. It integrates with the camera roll/iCloud if you have that switched on. It does a decent job at RAW manipulation as well as having a flag/reject system. I’ve just finished the trial and am debating either the 19.99 a year or £60 one off charge.
edit: Using a 2019 iPad Pro here.

I did end up getting an iPad (Air) and a subscription to Lightroom CC, and I have to say I've very impressed. I'm coming from using Lightroom 5 standalone, which was getting a bit old now and didn't recognise the RAW format from my camera so it was a faff to convert to DNG before importing. This is seamless though and it's a pleasure to use, from start to finish. The presets are pretty great (at the very least to use as a starting point or for ideas). I've not taken anything worth sharing yet but I will at some point. A+, would recommend.

Initially it seems like madness, but when you go on their forums it's full of old men with all the gear and not a single clue amongst them as to how to justify it.
It's a shame as it's a good resource, but I'm guessing it's just not very profitable given only enthusiasts buy camera gear now.

One thing that always surprised me is how often some of the posters seem to buy/sell copies of the same equipment. The photography seemed to take a back seat to the shopping! There were some great posts on settings and advice on how to shoot things like birds in flight buried in there though.

Yeah, that really stands out too. Plus the self appointed experts on certain subjects, whose photos are mysteriously absent. Urgh, I won't actually miss the forums at all, unlike EG.
