I wonder if you attack a chicken they all come back to you anyway? Or will it just be random ones that come at you?

Fuck's sake it happened again. A YT vid used a BotW sound effect and I'm starting another playthrough. It's sound design crack, meth, heroin and tea all in one
Also only two games get the open world reveal right: this and Elden Ring. Fucking beautiful work.

I'll argue in favour of adding a third (technically it's not an "open-world" but I'm not about to let that stop me): Xenoblade 1, coming out of Tephra Cave. Seeing the Mechonis utterly dwarf the party in total silence really smacks you with the sheer scale of the world (you knew from the opening cutscene that it's pretty much as big as the Bionis, but it's only at this point that you're best shown how gigantic they both are in relation to your characters). Then you walk out of the ravine behind you into Gaur Plain with the music swelling (especially in daytime)... Goosebumps.

I could do a third playthrough of this one. I shouldn’t, but I certainly could. I still haven’t done all the DLC because I found trying to power up the Master Sword in Master Mode really, really difficult.

I did my last playthrough on master mode and the sword trails were too much for me. Tempted to go again on normal….or wait for a remaster on Switch 2!

Hah, must be something in the water, my son has just started his third playthrough! (I'm still on my first of TotK, taking my sweet time). Watching him play BotW again has reminded me of a few things...
the guardians are iconic and great and I miss them the Champions and their abilities are much better than the TotK spirits there is no overwhelming sense of dread about The Depths (for me, anyway), so nice with just the main map to worry about
On the flipside... Absolutely totally missing fuse (deafeating monster and picking up parts seems almost irrelevant, never got into elixirs) kind of missing ascend (Revali's Gale helps of course) kind of missing Ultrahand / build, though it has made me realise I only ever use it in TotK when actually required
I think BotW is my favourite of the two now in hindsight. BotW + fuse would be my perfect game.

I loved fuse. I can see them integrating it into the next game as some kind of non-magical crafting thing.

Xenoblade 1 and FFVII Rebirth “walk out into the world” moments are pretty strong if we are making another list / Fredsheet here.

Brad from Nextlander started playing this again too, and the musical stings had the same effect on me.
