After the new trailer I went and had a look at my old save for this. Untouched since 2020, it appears I hadn’t really looked at the expansion after buying it. Looks like I’ll be playing that until May then.

In the UK visiting family, and have my switch with me. Should be finishing off Kingdom Battle but decided to boot this up last night after deleting my previous completion save just to mess about for an hour before bed…
I’m now about 5 hours in, and I think I’m going to a do a full content completion run (all shrines, korok seeds, all DLC, costumes, etc.) before TotK releases. I’m proper hooked again, and it’s been a long time since I completed it (launch week) that I don’t remember all that much past the starting villages. I’ll do the shrines in a different order, and I have all the amiibos so I won’t struggle for weapons or resources anyway (not that the game is particularly hard, but it means I can get Epona, and wolf-Link to fight alongside me).

Finally clicking for me, 2 divine beasts conquered. They keep mentioning a mythical sword I should probably check out, somewhere in a forest. Ventured south and found a village by the sea, then started going west. Lots of trees alright, but a bit too tropical and damp setting for a mythical sword. Without spoilers, am I at least heading in the right direction, south west?

Damn, well should I even be looking for it yet? These two divine beasts were very similar in structure, I’m kind of done with those for a while.

Took people who were playing it since launch over 2 years to notice, and I wouldn't have twigged if I hadn't been told.

Damn, well should I even be looking for it yet? These two divine beasts were very similar in structure, I’m kind of done with those for a while. The location of the sword is north of the castle . It is only really useful against guardians and bosses, so probably fine not to worry about it if you aren't going into beasts for a bit. It is fairly middling against your standard enemies. You also need to have 13 hearts to pick it up, so not worth looking for it if you haven't done a fair few shrines. Playing it at the moment. As mentioned in the Switch thread, I did play before, but didn't get very far. Now done all 4 Divine Beasts and working through the Champions' Ballard DLC. Surprised how much content there is for this, as I was expecting it to just be the bit on the Plateau. I want to do all the memories. I was thinking of doing all the shrines as well, but I've only done about 55, which isn't even half of them.

You don’t have to get the dlc but it adds some useful things (which you have to find in game) The extra content is quite good and the map tracker is neat.
I think it was worth it, but avoid master mode.
Edit: just to clarify the extra content is generally end game stuff so there is a chance you may be done with the game by then.

As above, some handy extras that will elevate the main game. I’d say it’s worth it, personally.

The meaty part of the DLC is mostly late game stuff, but there's also some extra items, as said, sprinkled throughout the world that you can access pretty much straight away if you can handle their areas/know where to go.

I need to get back to this soon (about 20hrs in and dropped it getting to “stop friggin setting me on fire you bustards/I need the right armour fir thus sh*t asap” zone about 6 months ago and moved to more enjoyable/less frustrating gaming for a bit. Otherwise in another 6 months it’s “what the hell was I doing? Need to start again” territory and don’t think I can face doing that for a third time… it’s a great game… just wish it had a more coherent story with cut scenes etc to bring it more together… (but I do understand that was never the designers approach…)

I'm enjoying this, even if I did get embarrassingly stuck after the first tower. I've still only completed two shrines as I've been hunting, gathering and just roaming around. Can't seem to catch any birds though.

Even if he could the only other person in the vicinity seems to be some old guy who wants to get his hands on Link's orbs.

What do you mean catch? Are you trying to grab them whilst they’re still alive?
In the context of the previous jokes, my genuine response now sounds very dark.

If we're talking about birds in the sense of the avian animal, then I use the bow. What I mean is I barely ever see them.
Anyway, the old guy says he'll give me his paraglider after he's told me the full story. Cheers grandad.

Old people always lure you into conversation with gifts. Just make sure he doesn’t have an old van hiding nearby to stuff you in when you least expect it.

Finally found this guy's tenth chicken and then next morning they've all escaped again! If he loves his chickens that fucking much you think he'd invest in a more secure enclosure.
