Besides hunting for scales, I've been starting to clean up on my quests. I've done tons already, but I completely ignored the DLC ones with the fancy gear! D'oh. I've been too engrossed on collecting Korok Seeds.
600 so far...

'kin 'ell! 600 korok seeds?! That's got to be nearly all of them.
Tell me you're using the korok mask at least.

Thought there were about 900?

Yep, 900. Although you're done with equipment slots after about half, so the rest are just for Hestu to give you a bragging rights reward

So much for keeping the bragging rights reward a surprise...

Back then I was eager to explore everything. I was constantly wondering about and I didn't have the mask. This time I do have the mask, but often forget to equip it. I do, however, use hero mode to see where I have already explored. I'm a lot better at spotting them or kinda just knowing where they will likely be. I also think there's about a hundred of them to spot on the map alone (marking down a row of 3 trees or the stone patterns). I definitely wont get them all. I'm not super thorough. I just do a lot more foraging than most, so stumble into a lot of them.

I'm up to 620 korok seeds now, just because I stumbled on a few more whilst doing side quests. I have got one quest in which thos kid wants to see a variety of weapons and they've just asked for a specific guardian weapon. I have just 4 shrines remaining. At least in the base game, so I am not sure thats going to be possible to finish. I should have planned ahead...

Progress too far and finding an iron sword or whatever is hen's teeth territory. Had a simialr issue with lynels iirc, needed a pic of a silver or whatever but I was already on the super lynels everywhere bit.

Yeah, thats a big issue. Surely its not a complete oversight. There must be somewhere you can find old weapons again.

Yeah, thats a big issue. Surely its not a complete oversight. There must be somewhere you can find old weapons again. The guardians respawn within the shrines, so you might be ok. Of course you have about 100 to pick from to find what you're after

Yeah, thats a big issue. Surely its not a complete oversight. There must be somewhere you can find old weapons again. If it's a base level Guardian Weapon try the Minor Test of Strength shrines. Modest for + and Major for ++ respectively. You can see a Shrine's title when hovering on the map IIRC so it won't waste too much time. Edit: if it's the quest in Hateno you need a Battle Axe+, so Modest Tests of Strength are what you want to check.

Also, for future reference for anyone playing: you can upgrade the Sheikah Sensor to be able to track anything you've taken a picture of in the Compendium (or, more likely, bought a picture of...), enemies, weapons, fruit and veggies...
Won't help in this particular instance, but if something is found out and about, it helps.

You can get basic weapons in hyrule Castle. It's full of them. Or the ruins - they have a lot too
I've just loaded it and noticed I only need one memory. Has to be the stupid hyrule one doesn't it. Ended up getting lost inside and just fighting hard bastards a lot. I've left my teleport marker in there though so I might go back and sort it.
Don't know whether to carry on with this save (all beasts done, 1 memory left, got about 98 shrines)
Or just start again.
I wish you could have multiple save slots

You can have one regular mode save and one Master Mode Save. I'm on 119 Shrines now and about 660 Korok Seeds. I could be missing a few, but I have exhausted almost all the Quests too. Gonna take a small break before tackling the DLC.

And done! 120 Shrines down. Only 640 Korok seeds (so not sure where I plucked that previous number from) I have 3 regular quests left (plus 3 DLC quests) and can still upgrade around half of the gear I own. However, I think its time to put it down for a bit.
I've never played the Ballad of Champions stuff and I found my earlier attempts at the Trials of the Sword to be very tough on Master Mode, so I'll have to give that another shot at some point.
It's weird to think I've completed the original Zelda, A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening, Ocarina of Time and Phantom Hourglass multiple times each, but I've probably put more hours into Breath of the Wild (360 hours), than all those other games combined. What a game.

What a game. Ballad of the Champions in my experience is this weird case where it's obviously meant to be played after you've done a majority of the game (I'm not sure if you can even access it without having done the Divine Beasts) but its rewards help you a lot more if you still have things to do. It was still a blast to play and 100% worth it, don't get me wrong, it just gives you stuff like the motorbike and the fast Champion power recharge that someone like me, that had already rinsed the majority of the game by then, just didn't have something substantial to do with them besides hunt Koroks and grab the last few named locations on the map... Then again I suppose just traipsing around and seeing any sights you might have missed is a good 10-20 hours on its own in this game, so what do I know

See, that's the eternal beauty of this game. I'm just about at the end, yet again and I know exactly where I am and what to do. Yet the thought of 'New Game' absolutely still excites me ridiculously. I can't imagine life without it now. That would just be silly.

Breath of the Wild still looks great on a regular Switch screen. Would love to see it on an Oled.

"You can lay down in bed and say you've lived a full life and never risk doing anything else again, because that's how you want to die, and everything else you could do has the risk of opening another path, or changing your ideas, or actually live a full life and not die in your bed.
Don't stay safe, go dangerous, enjoy and suffer and learn and teach. Don't rush, experience, travel. Breath of the Wild is probably the perfect example of that in videogame format."
Really makes you think, doesn't it
