I’m seriously considering taking up painting again - I watch YT videos of painting tips and schemes most days. I don’t think I want to play, though I may be tempted once I have some of the stuff ready, I think it’s mostly just a want to have a new hobby that isn’t digital while I’m still working from home. It’s just so expensive to get going that I don’t want to commit unless I really commit.

I actually quite enjoyed Killteam 1.0 even though I get the criticisms for it, games could often be decided by the end of the first turn (same as 8th edition 40k) and there was a whole load of dice rolling that resulted in nothing happening but it did allow for a lot of crazy moments me and my mates still talk about.
2.0 sounds like it keeps games closer for longer and there's less redundancy in the rules which you'd hope as they're bespoke now rather than piggybacking off 40k's ruleset. I'm really looking forward to it, I just have to decide on a more consistent paint scheme for my orks!
edit: oldschoosoviet, I love those breacher/biker conversions in the back there!

These (in a less potato pic): i.imgur.com/x6rRoCX.jpgYeah, lotta fun. Used Killa Kans as "mining" Sentinels on the other side too. Was a fun project for the last ETL contest on Bolter and Chainsword, all done in 3 months. In contrast, this Dark Mechanicus crew have been a WiP for about 18 months, because I couldn't stop tinkering. Finally all prepped and undercoated, and experimenting with oil washes/paints as something new to learn. I'll post some up as I'm slowly progressing.

Managed to get my order in for the new KillTeam although I have to wait a couple of weeks for it From a few videos I've watched, it looks like they've materially re-worked the rules - I assume to make it more accessible (?). Without getting stuck into the new rulesets I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or not - I quite liked the fact that KT seemed like W40k 'lite' (not that I've ever played W40k!), but this seems like a bit of a departure..? What does everyone else think?

Definitely a departure from 40k. The ruleset is entirely separate now, which is fine as long as it works for the system. Not at all sure about the idea of replacing distance measurements with symbols; seems a bit of an over complication which will see me writing the actual proper distances next to the symbols in the rulebook, I think.
All in all, I'm not opposed to Kill Team getting its own bespoke rules; it worked really well for Warcry, after all. I've secured my copy and look forward to giving it a good go.

I was over in Warhammer world last weekend and the chap on the door was building the new Krieg models. They looked aces, if slightly less crisp than the forge world ones.

Imperium Mag should be on my doormat soon, just got a confirmation email, plus a rather low quality mug.
Anyone else subscribing? And would you be up for trading bits and bobs?

Is this their new magazine subscription thing? I had a look last night and it looks tempting - but I'm sure all of the models etc could be bought for much less than the total subscription cost (£9 per week for 80 weeks) and I doubt I'll get the time to actually read the magazines.... I'll see if I can pick up the first edition from a GW store to guage how much I'll actually get out of it.

It is. Much like the previous one, the value is variable e.g. one has £30 of aggressors and a paint, another just has 3 paints. I've subbed so that I don't forget to grab an issue and miss out on something great, which happened with the Repulsor tank

Actually the opposite is true, generally over the whole collection it’s near enough a 40% discount I think. The odd issue is a loss, but generally most things are well below RRP. I’ve done conquest and mortal realms, hopefully will get a few extra issues with flayed ones once we know which one that is.

For the last two magazine subscriptions they've done (Conquest & Mortal Realms) the saving over the entire run comes to over £200. Yes, you'll get the odd week with just 2 pots of paint, but they're more than made up for when you get a £45 vehicle over 2 issues.
The early issues are well worth buying multiples of if you can, as well. They're usually an introductory price (2 or 3 quid?) and come with a unit in the £25-£35 range. Unfortunately, they tend to sell out fast everywhere.

Looks like I'll be scooping up 2 or 3 copies of issue 4!
And that exclusive Captain in 5 would definitely be worth having more than one of. One for my Silver Templars, one for my Crimson Fists and one to heavily convert for my Space Wolves!

Ok,so I've looked again at the value of the Imperium magazine subscription and you've convinced me.
I didn't go for the premium sub as, while it's good value for money for the models you get, I'm not really interested in the Tau or Tyrannids...
I'm looking forward to getting the first edition in the next week or so 😁

There is an old legend, that if you burn 250 consecutive issues of White Dwarf, then Jervis Johnson (or it might be Rick Priestly) magically appears and allows you to ask one rules based question. You could try the same with these when you've got the models, you might get Gav Thorpe at least

Can I ask him to stop writing his terrible novels instead? Not sure that's rules based but you could try, worst thing that could happen is he reads one to you. I did like Gav Thorpe 1st Edition, back when he was the new boy at White Dwarf and losing pretty much every battle report he was in for years, related to that as being quite new to Warhammer myself at the time. Only 30 years ago

I've never commented in this thread over the water because I do (well, collect, have never actually played) Sigmar and have never really seen any chat on that topic.
I used to do a bit of 40K back in the early nineties when I was a kid. Gave up partly because it was ammo to get ripped to bits at the jungle of a school I went to, and partly because early on at that school one of my delinquent mates who was then expelled and disappeared actually nicked a handful of my best models, including Ghazkul Thraka (2nd edition model, absolutely pants in hindsight).
Have always browsed White Dwarf on the shelf though and in lockdown MkI bought the current Sigmar boxset. I own a complete Stormcast 2000 points list which is half painted but haven't touched them since before Xmas and really wondering if I'll get the motivation back with several competing hobbies.
What isn't helping is that they appear to have just 'done a 40K' and released a new edition replete with new Stormcast models that appear to make my very expensive 'cast look obsolete, just like they did with Space Marines. Urggggh. Is it even worth painting them now.

Tried a AoS forum/reddit or similar ?
I'm the same way, building for my own enjoyment, but I do get motivated by good contests (the oft-mentioned ETL) or even just random praise throwing up the odd picture on a dedicated 40k forum.
Haven't done much the past two years, but started a Dark Mech army this year. Spent £160 on parts to kitbash an Ordinatus (big gun platform) last weekend, no regrets.

Aye, mines waiting for me when I get home tomorrow. Its going to join cursed city, a psi titan and a bloodthirster on my immediate pile of shame (the larger pile of shame is in the loft).
