capcom keep trying to make RE into some shitty shooter with their spin off games (the recent one packaged with RE3 was a failure and so was the one before that) But they had unqiue idea if they wanted RE multiplayer but ps2 network was not great and the game looks rough now but I think the Outbreak format could work with people having to work together to survive and complete puzzles on modern RE engine
Quite liked this video on Outbreak

The puzzle was indeed a bug. Quit, loaded (thankfully a typewriter nearby) and got it very quickly.
Some of the ‘mob’ sections are pretty tricky.

Carried on with RE5 a bit trying to do the S ranks on Professional, only managed to do a couple more, have 9 out of 16 I think Bloody hell it’s a lot more brutal than I remember. One level where you start on a boat I literally loaded it up and ‘died’ immediately 3 times in a row without getting control of my character. Often you just end up in a loop of saving each other from death until the inevitable death happens Left the online setting open yesterday (possibly a mistake?) and it was absolute carnage, made no progress whatsoever, with deaths constantly. As soon as I went back to solo I completed a level first attempt Might take me a month this Managed to play a couple of hours more this week getting the S ranks and now have 15 out of 16 on Professional The hard levels were 2-3 and 5-3, both of which were incredibly tough to S rank 2-3 is the on rails Ndesu level, which was proving a nightmare with the AI and even worse with randoms online. Then suddenly I was paired with a competent player and I pissed it without barely a scratch 5-3 is probably just as challenging though as it’s a really long level with numerous fights and the Wesker plus Jill fight at the end. I think I’ve found an almost foolproof method to beat the Jill bit now though Just the final level to go, which I don’t remember being too hard but we will see!

Mopped up the remaining trophies yesterday with the exception of the one for completing all chapters on Professional
Did final chapter on PRO earlier, wasn’t to difficult at all but there is definitely a specific way to do it. Best to hold back more, gung-ho leads to certain death
Got an S rank so that’s every chapter on every difficulty S ranked
Completing the last chapter got me that Platinum too, which was nice
What a bloody great game, it’s so much fun, the weapons have so much heft to them, they feel powerful and accurate. RE6’s weird nerf guns that have no feedback at all are a massive downgrade and probably one of the main reasons why a lot of people that love 5 also hate 6
Definitely a 9 out of 10

Well played! I would have revisited this game if the Switch port had been a little stronger. I don’t think I could have been patient enough to wait for human companions either. I’d have to have played split screen.

It’s weird that on PS4 you get a human companion immediately every time you start a level, you actually can’t get rid of them Well you can but it means changing your settings

I remember loving 5 a lot and think I completed it 2-3 times. I still remember feeling over the moon when I got the biggest magnum!
Just completed Chapter 9 on 4make tonight. I really am trying to restrict it to a chapter a night now and not overdo it but it’s so hard because it’s so good. I genuinely think this may be a top 3 game ever for me. And the environments - that castle is ALIVE.

I only realised at the end of my first playthrough of Resi 2 on Xbox that I had the Ray Tracing mode turned on. I turned it off for playthrough 2 and didn’t notice a single difference.
Still, visibility on the store shelves I suppose!

Better framerate though?

Oh yeah! Definitely that. But I guess that wasn’t as important?
I was clearly too distracted (or stressed out) by Mr. X. Genuinely having heart palpitations for the first half of both playthroughs anyway.

Finally finished RE4 remake yesterday.
I think it’s in the running for one of the very best games I’ve ever experienced.
It’s so rare to find such well crafted and direct single player experiences these days. It’s just the right side of linear, looks and feels fantastic, scratches the collecting/looting/upgrading itch, and has brilliant environments. Fantastic.
I do have the Ada DLC but I think I’m going to pass on it for now and return at a later date. Quite itching to start 5 again too! I think I’ll have an hour now in fact - will be interested to see how it’s held up.

It's a testament to how good the game design was in the OG game that the remake refines on in the current age, because while they may have changed some things here and there A LOT of the OG game is still in there.

Haven’t managed to play tonight but quite enjoyed my time on 5.
I think as a graphical achievement it was amazing at the time - although it’s funny how your eyes sort of remember it looking current gen even though it’s obviously not there!
The sound seems a bit muffled, dialogue in particular sounds a bit distant.
Looking at it, I’m sure it was the 360 I had this on - and wonder if I’ve picked up that version rather than the XOne re-release?
The aiming is a bit tricky coming from the 4 remake, and it’s been tough to get back used to static firing.

You’ll get used to it quite quickly, I find it very precise. All the weapons are absolutely awesome too, especially the shotguns and sniper rifles
I absolutely love it, getting the platinum on the PS4 version just a week or so ago was a joy (even the on rails level when I eventually did it with an S rank)

Rampant speculation on my part, perhaps, but with more RE9 rumours doing the rounds of late - combined with renewed whispers of a PlayStation event being planned for May - could we be getting an announcement on this front sometime soon?
If memory serves, Village was first unveiled during one of Sony's livestreams.
