It's an enjoyable romp! Not to spoil it, but it certainly drags out a silly plot line.. shave off 10 hours, and it would have been better.

And now they're making a live service open world game. Sony not learning a single fucking thing.

I was gonna mention that, but not sure if I wanted to derail.
That said, so far the only live service game Sony have put out (that I recall) is Helldivers 2, and everyone seems to love it. Although I also wonder why that gets a pass, but games like Avengers, Gotham Knights (which isn’t actually GAAS), and Suicide Squad got comment bombed to failure. Suicide Squad is terrible to be fair.

I think the price, that the gameplay seems genuinely good, the stuff you can earn versus microtransactions seems well balanced and I suppose it's an underdog AA story where it wasn't really launched to much fanfare by Sony really. The others well it's much reported on why they haven't lit up the charts.

RE Zero is p*ssing me off. Is it always this mean to the player? It seems to take inventory management to a bitter, even spiteful extreme for one. Learning that I need to keep the hook shot which takes up two inventory spaces was the first sh*tter. Resulting in me legging it round all the train because I didn’t realise the map is separated by floors - I was convinced it was gone and I was on a corrupted save. Then attempt with the train brakes one. Figured out the maths problems with seconds to spare (seriously mental arithmetic under pressure is a fun mechanic now?) and then the train crashes. Immediately post crash Rebecca got eaten and I had to repeat about twenty minutes. Only to get to the rear brake panel and not have the magnetic card for it, despite walking over to get after being told by Billy ‘not to mess up’.
Console straight off

Yeah, it’ll do that.
I found that once we made it to the main locations that I just ended up creating waypoints and supply dumps for myself so there would be lots of medium length backtracking every time I thought I was in a new hub to try and avoid longer treks later on.
Quest items are a pain in the arse but if you’re like me and hoard health sprays and magnum or explosive type rounds for final bosses in every RE game then it gets to be a real chore as you end up ferrying them about for half the game without ever intending to use them.
Storywise it probably creates more plotholes than it resolves (the whole game is one as far as Rebecca’s RE1 character goes for me) but its mostly a good game. If someone could mod in item boxes it’d be really solid.

I played Resi 0 about six years ago or so. Enjoyed it a lot but absolutely the inventory was a bit of a pisstake at times. I get that it's so you have to manage between two people with smaller inventories than normal blah blah but the main hall became an absolute dumping ground of items, was almost farcical at times how much stuff I'd leave there. Would walk in to this massive space and was like a hoarder lived there.

I got res evil 6 for 99p in recent just for you offer (was on sale at the time for 3.99 anway) and had some credit expiring (about 1.07) in the next few days. I did play a little of it on the 360 days but sent it back to lovefilm. On the replay, Leon's campaign is ok so far and Jake is so annoying and has that late 2009 ish twat video game character. But chris' campaign is utter dog shit and the fact is gears/COD style action gameplay does not work with the shitty gameplay. Also its so annoying get knocked off your feet with bullet hits you, also its shite at cover based shooting. Might try Ada's campaign but out of choice of RE6 and let the credit expire, I think letting the credit expire would be the better choice

I’m playing the RE 2 Remake for the first time in 4 years (apparently) and I forget how quickly it can make you feel overwhelmed! I am missing my shots because I’m panicking. I’m getting stressed out because all I want to do is make sure I’m not missing any pick ups, but the zombies will not give you a break.
It sounds like a complaint, but it all builds on the atmosphere and gets me worked up in a way horror games generally fail to do. I’m going to have a meltdown once Mr X appears.

Just kill them all and explore at your leisure

That’s the plan, but I can’t shoot for my life! I notice the zombies do that sideways kind of shuffle to make it harder to hit them, but I swear it was easier to hit them in 4!
Oh wait. I probably just kicked the crap out of everything in 4.

I too am playing the 2 remake now. Binned off Zero and watched a summary of the ‘story’.
As a younger pup I’d have pushed through but I don’t have time in my life for that stress and those mechanics now.
Now 2 remake is a game. I remember this releasing with fairly little fanfare but I think it’s one of the best gaming experiences available. Previously completed this with Leon and am now playing Claire/Evangeline Lilly. Better character than rookie Leon.
I’ll be doing the mainstream ones for now, yes even 6. Will consider the isometric or whatever you wanna call it ones after. Except 1 which is already ticked off.

I don’t remember it being so difficult, but this is way more challenging than 4 and 8 were (from my memory last Sep/Oct). I’ve just done two laps of the western side of the police station in order to shrug off Mr X and he’s having none of it. I just had to save and come off because I’m a mess.

Mr. X is a bit of a bastard. I triggered him way too early on my first playthrough. If you've got a save from before you go into the STARS office, then it could be worth going back to that.

I kinda wish I had. I definitely triggered him earlier than I should have, but at least he’s not cost me much health. I didn’t realise he can go the wrong way if you’re quiet enough, but I’ve only managed to pull that off once so far (and I had to creep away from a zombie that was chasing me too).

Yeah, he’s pretty easy to lose. Nemesis in 3 is more of a bitch because he has those tentacles to pull you in and he has more open space to Hulk drop in front of you.

Which is exactly what I didn’t want to hear as that is my next game after this one. It’s the only Resi remake I have yet to play!

Well, there’s also more ammo, so just make sure you have a flame round or grenade for when he appears. You get an achievement and a drop for downing him.

Another likelihood is that I probably had stopped following the gaming press much by then I guess. Fair enough then and it deserves the accolades. Did EG snog, marry or avoid?

Resi 2 remake cemented it's place as the best RE game.

They loved it more than the lewd lady dimitrescu fans and then some.
Don't worry about it, it's so easy to miss all the hoo ha surrounding games when they're not on your radar at the time.
I really love RE3, I went from hating it because it was so far from the original to it being one of my favourite most played REs.

I really enjoyed 3, Zulu, after all it’s what made me drop 50 notes on all the collection in the sale. It’s more compact than 2 and more action orientated but it still had scares and I will also never forget the feeling of fuckyeah with the giant railgun!

Shots fired at Donlan. But it’s true. Though didn’t DD2 just get 5 Gold Stars? 👀

I find their contributors are more generous. The in house reviewers not so much, but again if the game is "lovely" then 5 stars it is.

I know I’ll have said it before but the only mark against 2 Remake for me is that the A/B scenarios aren’t as unique and interlinked as on PS1. I suspect that’s because they didn’t think it would be as huge a title as it became and if they did they’d have put the resources in to flesh that aspect more. But its a minor thing because it was a genuine game of the generation contender for me on PS4.
I really enjoyed 3 Remake too. Although Nemesis is a bit cheap on the open streets early on when he seems to be tied to you by very short rubberbanding.

Yeah RE3R is fantastic, I also wasn’t a fan at first as it controls differently from RE2R. You don’t really notice it unless you go straight from one to the next but it doesn’t feel as precise at first
Even after completing it once I still thought it wasn’t quite as good but then I found that the replayability was off the charts and it became amazing with the unlocks changing the game completely. I ended up getting the Platinum and enjoyed doing it so much I immediately went back to RE2R and got the plat on that two
Well worth doing, a lot of fun for once, which isn’t the case for most platinums

I also seem to have forgotten how short Resi 2 is. My first playthrough was 8 hours. My current run looks like it’ll probably match that. Much better than the RE4 remake, which wasn’t bad in that respect, but wouldn’t have lots points in my book for trimming a few hours off.
