2 eps into 3 Body Problem.
Like it a lot. Super intriguing, good acting, bareable characters, nicely shot. Giving me faint Lost vibes.

I was disappoiunted to hear this weekend that The Lazarus Project won't be getting a third series, as it was one of the more promising sci-fi shows of recent years. Looks like it just didn't get enough of an audience.
That's the issue with the homegrown Sky shows - I'm almost reticent to invest the time into them because unless it's a real hit that can reliably bring in over a million viewers, it just gets binned after a couple of series.
Frustratingly they have a habit of betting on the wrong horse too. Absolutely nothing shows like Cobra or Riviera get renewed to the delight of no one, with even insiders saying they regret doing it. It's going to kill them once HBO go D2C.

rawsharkTHat's a shame, personally I'm still planning on watching the second series at some point.

That is a real fucking shame, but it also felt inevitable because noone watches sky originals. They'd really set up well for 3 as well.
What's frustrating is if it was on Netflix it'd be fucking huge.

Netflix would cancel it after 1 season, regardless.

I seem to be on a bit of a Netflix anime kick at the moment, so started watching Pluto. I knew pretty much nothing about it going in (aside from Nick or someone here saying it's good). It seems decent so far anyway, if a little glacially paced at times...

Pluto is very, very good, but it's not an action anime.

The Witcher S3 Quite liked the first two seasons but this really isn't doing it for me. Three and a half episodes in and finding it boring and directionless. Season 3 was terrible, I can see why Cavill bailed on it. The source material is great (the books), I don’t really understand how the show runners managed to turn it into such turgid garbage.

I'm only up to Season 2 (which mostly wasn't as good as Season 1, despite a couple of great episodes).
Does season 3 continue following the plot of the books? Because IIRC that's around the point where the books get really bogged down and Geralt and his party basically spend an entire book wandering around a bog and trying to cross a river.
Or is that still to come in Season 4?

S3 does follow the books but it hasn't even got to the boring bits of the books yet. I find it hard to put my finger on where it's gone wrong, it lost any lightness of touch, it went melodramatic and portentous, I dunno, I couldn't even finish the season.

Back into Bosch (S6). Good stuff as ever but at risk of repeating Rum, Maddi is one of the worst actors ever. Awful in every scene.

Watched eps 1 & 2 of X-Men ‘97. Does a really good job of capturing the 90s series vibes - looks like it’s going to stick with that era of the comic arcs too.
It’s not exactly a sequel to the 90s series but more of a spiritual successor. The series got me through some rough times back when I was a youngster so just happy to see it back with better action scenes and animation (even at the time the series was a bit ropey looks-wise). Nice thinly veiled take on the Capitol Riots in episode 2. A rare series where I’d have binged every episode if they’d all dropped on day one.

I wish they’d dropped them all or did dailies like with season 2 of What If? but now I’m two in I know I’m not going to be able to wait for the rest to arrive and binge so it’ll be weekly for me.
Nice to see the episode 2 cliffhanger hinting that this season will be sticking to the original’s formula of adapting classic storylines from the comics. Aside from the make up of the team it was probably the most faithful show or movie at doing classic comics on screen.

Truth. One of those unfortunate occurrences where the bearable child actor turns out to not be able to act at all in adulthood. See also the Harry Potter crew.

Doesn't help she gets as much screen time as Harry in the Aldi ones.

3 body problem.
I have had several people recommend this to me this week and I just tried the first episode. Does it improve as I found that painful. Can’t put my finger on it but it just felt cheap, badly acted, shot like it was an afternoon drama on itv.

improves a bit, episode 5 is quite impressive, know what you mean it feels a bit off, but we're up to episode 7/8 and doesn't feel like time wasted

Watching ‘Is it Cake?’ On Netflix. The premise is ok, make a cake that looks like a household object. They’re judged against decoys.
The presenter is the most annoying fucking bellend I’ve ever had the displeasure of watching. Also, no one seems to go home as winners compete for cash, losers enter a losing league.

Can't you just watch the Sainsburys Ad interstitials? At least those have Steven Fry's lovely voice doing the voiceover.

Fucking hell.
Action, guest stars, plot advancement and utter heartbreak.

Ep 3 of X-Men '97 I see they're sticking to the classic storylines without trying to update the bits that now (and honestly, even back then) sounded a bit naff. I am The Goblin Queen! Also, I'm sure it's a throwback to the comics, but Magneto's new costume isn't doing him any favours. (Elbow length gloves... yuck).

Episode 5 is a must watch for one particular scene if you can keep at it.

Funnily enough that's been on my list of things to finish next. Think I got to the end of the second season.
I'm amazed that Lee Pace never really became more of a leading man. I suppose he is in Foundation, but hasn't done that well in films.
