We just finished Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV. I'm absolutely fuming that a bunch of writers/actors/producers wrote to the court to say a man who admitted to abusing/raping a child(Drake from Drake & Josh), was out of character, and he should face less punishment. And we're talking people like actor James Marsden who wrote in. Fucking wild.

Finished the 3 body problem.
Definitely one of the better series I've seen on Netflix and quite an innovative plot (from what I've seen and read).
I'm a little miffed that Netflix haven't confirmed a second season. The fuckwits changed their logo for this and they still can't be arsed to do a second season?
The books are on my to read list now. I'm intrigued.

Its really obscene the way the Beatles can just sit and garble some nonsense give each other a couple of pointers then immediately launch it into being an all time classic in Get Back. And then do it again a few minutes later. They really had something, huh?

3 Body Problem
A few episodes in and after some dodgy sound mixing in the first episode, it's sucked me in. Some slightly dodgy acting, but sci-fi + Benedict Wong paints over 90% of wrongs.
Bizarrely it's got me thinking of early LOST, where the themes and mystery touch and hint towards something special and potentially mind bending.
That it's based on an award winning book from a Chinese author and not the writers of LOST, gives me slightly more hope they stick the landing.
Annoying Netflix haven't announced they've renewed for season 2. They still havent realised alot of people now hold off to see if they renew a damn show, after being burnt so many times commiting tens of hours to watch half a story.
I've been watching alot more stuff on Amazon recently, for them seemingly to at least see the majority of stuff until the end.

Tried Halt and catch Fire last night and despite a slow start still found myself watching the first three episodes back to back. Planning a rewatch of this as I really enjoyed it all first time around. Probably could have been shorter but I enjoyed all the character arcs. Also has a great soundtrack - both in the pop stuff and also Paul Haslinger's synth stuff. Grabbed both vinyls a bit back and they are fairly regular repeat whilst I'm wfh.

Anyone else caught Mandy yet? It's Diane (Cunk on Earth etc) Morgan's latest thing and it's pretty fucking funny. They're showing two 15 minute episodes on BBC2 every Wednesday at 10 and it's great that she clearly knows the eps are so ridiculous that they can only be 15 mins long. Highlight of the week at the moment.

Ripley the mini-series of Patricia Highsmith’s novel on Netflix has been excellent so far. Andrew Scott plays the lead role with good support It’s shot entirely in black and white but we binged the first half and it’s ace.

This Assembly programme on BBC1 right now is really lush - Michael Sheen is a bloody good egg, isn’t he?
Edit: yeah, everyone should watch this

Mrs simple wanted to watch one of the miner’s strike documentaries that had been on tv at the anniversary of the strike. She’d never even heard of Orgreave before so seeing the footage and hearing the interviews with the people who were there have made her genuinely furious just in time for bed.

La Brea - Paramount + 5/10
Currently watching SE2E7. It is UTTER nonsense. And yet, I can't stop watching it. It's like a weird fusion of Back To The Future, a cheap generic daytime soap and a poor man's Horizon Forbidden West.

Started Physical: 100. Reality show where 100 contestants are brought in to compete in a Squid Games esque competition. Each participant comes from a different background or profession that puts them in peak Physical shape. So there's a pro footballer, an MMA fighter, a boxer, a track athlete and goes down to people like a body builder, a fitness coach, a crossfit enthusiast, an actor, a policeman, a fireman etc. So they all compete in a bid to be no 1. As an example, to determine the initial ranking of 1-100, they all had to run on treadmills for 10 mins to determine who ran the most. Lowest 50 gets cut, then round 2 is 7 mins. Round 3 is 5 mins etc. It's pretty entertaining, some personalities shine out. Won't be surprised if a UK version of it comes

Think I slightly preferred it to S2 in all honesty. Really surprised the format hasn't been nicked and used anywhere else. Only criticism is the amount of replays.

I remember watching the first series of Mandy and really enjoying it. Just letting Diane Morgan cut loose - a bit like a female Mr Bean.

Got around to watching the first two episodes of Beacon 23.
I don't care about any of these characters so far.

It remains the only film I've ever walked out of because I found it so tense and uncomfortable.

It's basically the same plot as the film iirc.
(The Talented Mr Ripley, that is, not Ripley's Game)

otto - it’s similar plot and expect plenty of tension, but it’s obviously got a much longer runtime and covers the mundane too. It almost follows Riley’s every move, buying tickets, walking to baggage reclaim, viewing apartments. It’s ace. Maybe give the first episode a go, and see how you get on.

I was genuinely disappointed when I got the NEtflix notification saying it was coming soon and it wasn't an Alien spin off. I'm a bit Ripley'd out after Saltburn.

Bland Damon ruins Talented Mr Ripley for me, he's just so flat in everything. Works in Bourne because of the character.
