I know. Trust me. It's so tempting to find a way of pushing through but you'll only suffer for it.

I shouldn't have to tell this to you beautiful people, but if you haven't been to a dentist in a while (and especially if you're getting on in years, the older you are the more vulnerable your teeth get), do yourselves a favour: schedule an appointment as soon as you can and keep making regular visits, even if you (like me) don't feel like anything is wrong. I'm speaking as someone who's been burnt, I hadn't been to one in years (even before the pandemic) and although I got off easy today compared to what I was expecting, with only one filling and a plaque cleanup, the cleanup was rough because it had been so long (rougher than the filling, actually, I barely felt that ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png) ), and it could easily have been worse if I had been less careful with my teeth. Take care of yourselves, friends, prevention is best and you'll feel a lot better afterwards ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

After what happened to the actor Andy Hallett (Lorne from Angel), that is good advice. Look after your teeth, people.

Just pulled a tick out of my inner thigh. Thought it was a shrivelled skin tag at first, but nope! Managed to pull the little fucker out whole but having had Lymes before from a tick bite I'm understandably a little nervous.
Let's see...

Doesn't seem like it...advice seems to be clean it and wait and see what happens.
Last time it happened I didn't even realise I had been bitten, but then had the telltale 'bullseye' rash and the doctor didn't take any chances and gave me the relevant antibiotics. They make you extremely sensitive to the sun, so my skin immediately felt like it was burning as soon as I stepped into daylight, so I had two weeks of living like a vampire in the middle of summer. Interesting time that.

Or a relic malfunction. Anyway, my turn - very minor. Started getting floaters in my left eye, they're there pretty much all the time. Not distracting but need to book an optician I guess to see if my retina is falling off. This happened to me recently. Got a big one that was there for months. Finally went to the optician who had a thorough look and said quite plainly that it was the jelly in my eye degrading, falling off, and floating around. Due to age, nothing more. Jinxed - this has happened to me in the last few weeks. I've got a fairly big floater (and a couple of little ones) suddenly in my right eye. Went to see the optician who told me they don't see any major issues after doing a fairly thorough set of tests but I'm struggling to stop noticing it, especially at work due to screen use. Any tips? I've tried lower brightness/enabling dark mode which helps a little but not by much. How long did it takes for yours to settle (or for your brain to stop noticing it)?

Ah that's a bummer that it's happening but do try to not worry about it. It's difficult to recall to be honest. I reckon i was noticing it more as there was that worry at the back of my mind (and the front of my eye) but I let it be for a month or 2 before going to the eye-poking man. After that it was probably another month or 2 before it calmed down. It made a reappearance recently then fucked off again.

Thanks for the post - it's only been in my eye for roughly a month but it's hard to put it at the back of your mind when it's in your vision every time you move your eyes, use a screen, look around while driving etc. I generally over-worry (?) about my health as it is. Reassuring to know it'll likely eventually piss off over time, think the optician said as much too. Just me being impatient.

FWIW I had a retinal tear in one of my eyes "welded" be laser, since then I have to go to regular checkups to an Eye Clinic every 6 months. They said it was very dangerous and I could go blind if I came too late. The reason for the tear - my eye hit a branch while working in the garden. The eye was kinda "weak" long before though. I still see "floaters" and some black dot in that eye but got used to it. Very dangerous it is when there is too many of them or you start seeing "flashes", or so the doctors say.

Thanks for the extra info.
I've read a fair bit myself (possibly too much) but I saw the optician straight away and haven't had any flashes of light or additional floaters.
The rational part of my brain understands it's highly likely to be nothing but the irrational part sometimes screams "IT'S YOUR EYES FOR FUCKS SAKE, DON'T LEAVE ANYTHING TO CHANCE EVEN IF THE OPTICIAN SAYS THERE'S NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT!".

Are you short sighted? Floaters are more visible to short sighted folk because your eye is unnaturally more focused on that sort of distance.
My eyes suck too. They're generally runny and tired all the time. The optician says it's text book dry eye but nothing really helps.

No, I'm a touch long sighted according to my recent eye test.
Quite lucky with my eyes as I'm 37 and have never had to wear glasses or contacts. Never had any problems with them until now.

Get yourself some Hyabak drops - they’re the absolute gold standard to treat dry and irritated eyes and the only thing that makes any difference for me. www.youreyehealth.co.uk/products/hyabak?variant=42110303371415Edit: If your eyes are *really* dry your Dr can prescribe a gel that I’ve had to use in the past. You squirt it in the bottom eye lid last thing before sleep and it’s almost magical the difference it makes.

For eyes, I use Carmize drops for blepharitis, which helps quite a bit when it flares up. Will check the others out though.

Good look with the procedure, user Fake_Blood. It'll be fine, and behind you (pun) in no time.
In other, non asthma news, I have realised that I have stomach gripping, or hourglass syndrome, issues.
I would be prone to muscular cramps in my abdomen when bending over, etc. It's annoying, but didn't give it much thought.
Today after a shower my entire abdominal area cramped. Everywhere. It was excruciating. After consulting Dr Google, hourglass syndrome is the obvious culprit.
I was very heavy in my childhood/teens, and I suppose everyone since then there is very little time when I'm not squeezing my stomach muscles subconsciously. It's taking an effort right now to not do it. It can lead to muscle imbalances, pain in the neck and shoulders and headaches. It can also affect breathing.
I'm sure I don't do it all the time, I certainly don't when at the gym or watching TV, but even walking around the house I can feel my stomach muscles tense automatically.
There will be a big effort going forward to break the habit, as I certainly don't need to do it anymore, and address the weakness in my lower abdominals.

Earlier this week I also had my eyes checked for the first time in 20 years, still exactly the same, -0.50 and -1.00 . I've been meaning to get laser surgery for a long time, but the doctor said he didn't recommend it, as he was almost certain I'd need reading glasses after. Was a bit bummed out really, I want super 4K HDR vision, but I don't want to put on glasses just to read my phone.

My sympathies, brother. It'll do what it's supposed to, have no worries on that front anyway.

WHAT THE FUCK HAS HAPPENED TO MY EYEBROWS???
Fuckin wiry wee grey little fuckers sprung from nowhere decide they want to be LONG.
WHO'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS?!!
edit: realise I should probably have this in the getting old thread. But that thread's for old people, not strapping young men in their 20s. 30 at a push. Late 30s if we're being unkind. 40 is really the new 30 anyway. I can't be in my late 40s. I just can't.

If you are trying to crowdsource our opinion on whether you should get micro-blading, I think there should be a poll.

My solution to this problem turned out to be my wife.
Any hair that is unlike it's fellows, either in length or texture, is immediately plucked out gleefully by her using her fingers.
The ears are fine but I pop the nose hair trimmer in them occasionally, and go around the ear itself with the trimmers when tidying up my beard.
