Anyone else ever get episodes where they become hyper aware of everything around them, in a distressing way?
Doesn't happen often, but when it does I spend around an hour basically going through hell until I can calm down, where all lights are too bright, all sounds are too loud, sunlight feels like it's burning, a slight breeze chills me to the bone, and even my clothes feel like they're too abrasive against my skin.
I've noticed it happens usually when my insomnia has been at it's worst and I feel like I've been awake for days on end, so I assume they are related.

Erm, ish? Not the clothes thing though. Sounds like a migraine to me maybe.

Or a relic malfunction.
Anyway, my turn - very minor. Started getting floaters in my left eye, they're there pretty much all the time. Not distracting but need to book an optician I guess to see if my retina is falling off.

Have you been bitten by a radioactive spider? (That doesn't sound fun. Definitely log frequency of this and get in the 8am queue if it continues!)

Not distracting but need to book an optician I guess to see if my retina is falling off. This happened to me recently. Got a big one that was there for months. Finally went to the optician who had a thorough look and said quite plainly that it was the jelly in my eye degrading, falling off, and floating around. Due to age, nothing more.

Yeah I suspect that's what it is. Optician is going to book me in asap as they apparently like to get it looked at urgently in case it is the retina falling off.

As you age, the jelly like filling in your eye becomes more liquid. Happens to all of us if you live long enough.
Most often there’s no issues other than floaters. Sometimes the jelly can remain attached to retina and pull it away. This can cause permanent loss of sight unless treated very rapidly.
Tl;dr - if you ever have *a lot* of floaters or - more importantly - if you ever sense a black “curtain” across your vision, get to a&e immediately. A friend didn’t and lost 60% of the vision in one eye.

My consultant diagnosed vitreous detachment when I had lots of floaters. An increased risk of retinal detachment but if that’s avoided, just a consequence of getting older.

Too many floaters means I can go blind? Finally, something new to worry about.

Necksticle Update:
They still don't know exactly what the problem is but their current best guess is an infection caused by my wisdom tooth. So the plan is to remove that in a few weeks and then get me back in a few months after that to see if its gone down or not. It all sounds a bit fuck around and find out if you ask me, but I've got nothing better to do.
Back Update
Got turned into a pretzel yesterday, back feels much better this morning, have a follow up in a week. Still think it's all quackery. "Chiropractic and Complementary Health Clinic" indeed, quackery.

My eye floaters are caused by being old (41!) which is better than being caused by going blind. The acid they pour into your eye to dilate the pupils is fun.
I've had persistent groin/back pain for months caused by being old (41!) and playing football. Current diagnosis is PUBIC OVERLOAD! Basically my glutes are weak as shit and my PUBIC AREA is doing all the heavy lifting and getting inflamed. Solution is resistance band exercise and getting thicc. Having a scan to rule out sports hernia. Being in constant pain sucks.
This is payback for doing zero exercise or stretching and rocking up to play five a side with a bunch of 20 yrs olds twice a week.

Thanks! Yeah I know, I was joking as until recently I really didn't think it was old at all, seems my body has other ideas.

Ha, weak glutes is also the cause of shite knees, I think. Get those squats going imo.

TBH, I don't think squats are going to help, as it sounds like he's already doing squats wrong if he's tying his pubes to a weight to do the heavy lifting, or have I not read this right?

I read it as the sheer weight of his pubes causing him to lean forward enough that it's causing backache.

read Harry's statement of being old at 41 and thought "at least I'm not 41 yet" then remembered, no, I actually am.
My shoulder is being annoying currently, pain around shoulder / neck region, most likely due to poor posture. Should get it looked at at some point.

No pubes here, bald as a coot down there. If you don't cultivate a decent amount of pubes of course they're going to get overloaded.

Some people shave their pubes into a lightning bolt design.
The more ambitious try for the cover of Pearl Jams' Lightning Bolt.

Your teeth okay Rob? I had something similar after a serious tooth infection. Ironically I had this *after* I had one of my wisdom teeth pulled.
