The girl has managed to monkey paw ‘I don’t want to go anywhere this Christmas’ into a positive test. Currently cancelling all our plans and making room in the freezer. Fuck sake. Bit extreme, but I guess I'm not a parent. When will you defrost her?

Meh, she’s a grown woman and she knows the risks. If she’s ok with almost definitely getting it I’m not going to put the brakes on Had exactly the same conversation with the in-laws tonight. Said it's down to their risk appetite, happy to punt it etc. They're happy to come it seems, assuming no-one else is properly ill come Monday.

I'm still in the avoid and cancel phase if me/others have it. 2 friends have it atm and I wouldnt risk seeing them at all.
If they ever make it so you can get jabs privately, like the flu one which I currently get every year, I would totally pay to get the COVID one too.

Shite. A few sneezes today. Wife suggested I take a test.. bang to rights. Arse.
Most upsettingly, was planning a family bash on Saturday as it is closest weekend to what would have been my Dad's 83rd and first birthday since we lost him in May. My sister is still on the vulnerable list post cancer herself so there is no way I want to spread this amongst the family...
... plot twist - I may have caught it at her place on Boxing Day. Not sure of the new variant's gestation period. When I let her know, she said she had a cough over last couple of days and had wondered... may be from her step daughter or grandkid...

If it's like the bout we've all had, it's very short lived. I didn't test but 99.9% sure it was covid from my daughter. Mine came out Christmas Day night and was streaming on Boxing Day and the day after, then it almost went entirely (bar a bit congested still). Very weird and most welcome if that's what it is now.

Yeah, I was really rough for about 48hrs and then felt better fairly quickly. Just on the embers now, trying to shake the last bit on my chest.
It seems to be four or five days incubation. The girl came down with it on the 23rd after ice skating on Saturday, 19th, it hit me on the 27th and then it was the wife’s turn on the 1st. Fucking annoying we didn’t all get it at the same time and I’m feeling better just in time to get back to work but hey ho.

I'm starting to wonder if I have Covid. Had a cold last week, nothing too bad, mild cough, snotty nose etc. That cough seemed to ease off, but over the last day or so a different feeling dry cough as replaced it, as well as feeling a bit short of breath, wheezy, dimished sense of smell and just generally tired and run down. It's not dissimilair to how I felt last time I had it.
I'll see how it goes, but not paying for a test to find out.

It's 50/50 whether the test is accurate now anyway. Both me and my partner had the exact same symptoms at the same time and only one of us tested positive. Same for loads of people.

They were always a bit iffy anyway. I didn't bother, pointless really. Life doesn't stop anymore, just avoid the olds etc.

Yeah, I did a test earlier more out of curiosity than anything.
Negative result, but I'm not convinced by that. Although I've barely had more than the sniffles since my last dose of COVID 2 years ago, so I guess any old cold probably feels worse than it is.

If you’ve had them at the back of your cupboard for a while check the dates. The ones we were testing with over Christmas all had an expiration date of next week

Is it still a thing that having a faint scent of paprika in your cum was a surefire positive test or was that just for the Delta B1 subvariant from August 2021?
Hard to keep track. Pretty sure it was the OG Wuhan that created a lemongrass/pine scent though. There was that whole thing on that cruise ship.
Obviously given the fact Covid itself often affected your sense of smell it's no wonder we leaned more into lateral flow tests and PCR, The cum one was clearly cheaper to roll out but way less reliable.

This all seems like an elaborate ruse to get a vial of my spunk...

This all seems like an elaborate ruse to get a vial of my spunk... Which is a bit unnecessary. Just ask for one.

My throat feels just like it does when I have bacterial tonsillitis, which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Didn't expect it to be that considering that the symptoms started when I was finishing a course of antibiotics.

Well it finally got me (that I know of) after nearly 4 years... positive test this morn. Initially thought it was just another cold, but when my taste / smell started to go this morn I thought I should take a test, and lo and behold! I don't feel horrendous, mild cold symptoms in general, but the taste / smell thing is defo a weird experience. Just hope that doesn't last for ages like it has for loads of people I know!

GWS! We've still got a few test kits but the vials are drying up. We had some that had all dried up which were still supposed to be in date at the time. These were the early ones that came in a separate blister pack to the vials themselves.
