Shall we spend the first few pages making jokes about beer?

Incidentally, with our move over here, is our 'weird little middle-aged clique' going to get even weirder and middle-agier?

To keep alive the spirit of the old thread - 32,700 cases today, compared to 33,074 yesterday. Trend is DOWN!!! Let's go to a rave!

That really does hit home, especially the part about afternoon productivity (sometimes) dropping to basically zero. My office is still on track to reopen in early September, and they keep sending out emails urging individual teams to figure out which days they want to be in-person days in the office. But no-one's deciding yet. It's like no-one wants to be the first to say "I'll come in on this day so you all have to be in on that day too, or it's a bit pointless"

I'm starting my return to the office next week. Probably 1-2 days per week to begin with, though my long-term plan is a 5-in-10 system. So I'll go in Mon/Weds/Fri one week and Tues/Thurs the next, then back to the beginning. That means I should get to see all of my team at least once per fortnight.
I do want to get back in for at least some of the time, but it's going to be tough adjusting to the big chunks of inefficiency built into the "old" working patterns. Allowing for travel time between meetings if they're not in the same building will take some readjustment. So too will having 50-55 minutes of travel (most of which isn't suitable for working) at either end of the day.

My company is talking about a gradual increase in numbers on site over the next 4 months with hybrid working being in place in the new year. Communication about that has been poor though and it’s been rumoured the amount anyone has to go in will be manager’s discretion.
We have an entire two layers of management who do no work other than meetings, they all want everyone to be in a lot. The next layer down have that but do most of the work and none of us really want to be back in as it’s extra time we don’t have since all the cut backs in the last two years.

Surely the work at home thing is the best excuse for management to get rid of the dead waste meetings managers who get paid lots and contribute very little... Won't happen though sadly. In other news, finally got my 2nd Pfizer, waiting for MS Radio to beam into my head now...

Second Pfizer done just now as well... The 15 min wait afterwards is a bit weird.
Good to be fully jabbed up now at least.

The 15 min wait is to see if you go into anaphylactic shock. It can (very, very rarely) happen with the mRNA jabs, but is easily treated if you're still on site.

Yeah, just meant it's a weird experience sitting silently with a bunch of people waiting to see if one of you is the unlucky one.

Fortunately if someone drops you can probably just go home as the odds of two of you having an allergic reaction must be very slim indeed.

Yeah, just meant it's a weird experience sitting silently with a bunch of people waiting to see if one of you is the unlucky one. When I had my second jab, they had a pretty neat conveyor belt system going. A 5x5 grid of chairs, with the 2 meter separation between them and 5 vaccination staff doing the jab. At the front of the queue, they'd send batches of 5 people to sit down in a row and you'd get jabbed pretty much straight away. Every 3 minutes, they'd call another 5 to sit down, while telling another row of people that they could go. All very efficient.

There was a big pro-covid “freedom” march in Newcastle yesterday but they ended up having a big scrap with the police about 200 yards into their route

Coincidentally I’ve been mildly ill and awfully run down since my second jab, makes for some pretty distressed thinking during the regular anxiety attacks I’ve had since this bug took hold

No idea when we will get our jabs, HR fucked it up. Pretty pissed off as we filled out all the forms and stuff back in May.

I've not heard of many places doing that. My wife got her jab via work not long after they were introduced here and it was generally only over 70s being done. She works at a special school and no she is not over 70.

No, but we should frankly. We are in Spain and some companies actually do that and my wife's company was going to until someone probably paid them off not to.
But because we have private insurance(who aren't allowed to get involved with the vax) we needed to apply for a temporary Spanish health card. HR said fill out some forms and we'll sort it out. Found out last week we should of got an email with a link for our phones but both of us never received a thing. So their solution is for us to go to the local clinic and ask for our cards. Which I can already tell will be a fruitless faff.

I know some people in healthcare or working with vulnerable people got jabs via work, but wasn't sure if that was the case with H-alphaFox.

Not in our case, more to do with private insurance but companies over a certain size are allowed to provide it for their employees and families here. No idea why they wont, well some idea.
