They have but you have to be in the system somewhere which was HRs job or have your work offer it. They have blown past our age groups and are doing 20 year olds now.
Seriously I'd pay for it out my own pocket but you can't do that.

I’m getting a significant number of messages from recruiters offering mostly/fully remote positions, especially as a contractor. Companies are going to have to be careful what they decide after all this - some jobs it won’t matter if there are plenty of people for the role but for others it’ll be a significant factor in getting good people to join and stay.
I see virus numbers are still slowly creeping up, even with schools all closed, people still mostly at home and a lot on holiday. I hope we don’t have a massive increase in September but it’ll be a good sign of what this’ll be like long term.

Well I hope they look forward to a trip to the ICU. I'm past understanding and sympathy at this point who are so egotistical and entitled to compare themselves to being in apartheid and Jewish people in Nazi Germany.

I remember reading a journal article 10 or 12 years ago that was blaming reality tv (big brother voting etc) for making everyone feel like they deserved a voice and that their opinion was as valuable as anyone else’s. I guess we’re at the end point of that now where its literally life or death.

It won’t just be them going to the ICU though sadly. That’s the worst thing about this, it doesn’t affect other people one bit if you think 9/11 was an inside job or the queen is a lizard, but this is sadly a situation where individual choices and actions can have serious consequences for other people. It’s the typical things are what you believe them to be despite facts and evidence to the contrary type schtick that has plagued public debate for the last few years and been pounced on by populist politicians.
I know it’s a minority but it’s quite depressing the perfect storm that the combination of the toxic political climate, social media and this situation has presented.
That’s not to say that there isn’t a continual and healthy debate to be had on government intervention and extent of control and influence over people’s lives and I appreciate there are issues raised by this and the idea of vaccine passports etc., but that’s exactly why a healthy and rational debate is needed and not this kind of self-righteous tone deaf comparison to being persecuted like a Holocaust victim. I’ve no doubt there is legitimate opposition but some of it also seems like playing identity politics with people’s lives - just looking at the US vaccine uptake based on who people voted for is depressing.
I do enjoy the irony of microchip/tracking claims being typed from a device which is doing exactly that though.

A healthy and rational debate isn't possible with these absolute cunts. Basing their whole Identity on this kind of stuff means they will always think they're right. It's the endgame of Dunning Kruger but they want to take us with them.

It'll be interesting to see if they can trace back any rise in cases to the opening up of football (PL in particular), given the surge in cases at the Euros.

We've just had our lockdown extended by another two weeks, with an added curfew. It fucking sucks, but we're at about 25% of the population vaccinated now. Until that gets a lot higher, we're going to have the lockdowns. :/

Oof yeah, commiserations. Hoping it doesn't get extended to the rest of Victoria (though it probably will at some point).

What’s with the take up rate being so low in Oz - is it poor rollout, or vaccine scepticism in the population or both?

What’s with the take up rate being so low in Oz - is it poor rollout, or vaccine scepticism in the population or both? It's a combination of both, really. We had the potential to make AZ here, so basically put all our eggs in that basket. But then there was the whole blood clotting panic, which was partly your normal vaccine scepticism but also fucking terrible messaging. So then we were left with a whole bunch of vaccines that weren't getting used and desperately trying to get other ones, etc etc. It's a shit show, basically. We're starting to get the necessary uptake now, but it's going to be a long few months before we get to 70% or whatever the magic number is. As for me, I got my first AZ dose a few days ago. Not because I didn't want it before, but because for the longest time I wasn't really eligible for it (I'm still technically not, but fuck it)

What's the dominant strain? Because with Delta, it appears there is no magic number. How many fully vaccinated?

Ah cool. For some reason, I assumed 25% was one dose. Better than I expected! What have the Oz govt said about kids?

Apparently in the Northwest of England, especially Ramsbottom, everyone is immune to Covid.
Stay over on the way to Scotland, and of the 5 places we visited/went into, we were the only ones wearing face masks when moving around indoors.
Maybe they could share what's in their blood to save the rest of the world!
Also, why does everyone drive at a 100 mph in Ramsbottom? Local council could make a fortune by dropping the speed limit to 20mph, and putting up a load of cameras!

Had a similar experience stopping off in York on the way up to Scotland, very different to what I had experienced at home in Herts. Safe to say when you get across the border normality is restored and everyone is back in masks.

I was going to mention that. I’m in Scotland at the moment, it’s a very different approach to home. Loads of corona tv adverts/propaganda, still test and trace everywhere, everyone wearing masks
At home no one wears a mask now, in fact everyone just goes about their business as is Corona has gone. I live in the north west of England- not Ramsbottom though!

Turns out our local medical center did have our temp health cards in the system but not the correct contact details. Popped in and picked them up, the guy said we should of had the jab months ago so will see if he can speed it up. Relieved to know we are officially in line now.
