One of my line reports got it and then went and blew up hundreds of baloons for her church nativity play, effectively creating a vast stock of bioweapons.

Cunts like that show why we'd never survive a zombie apocalypse.

She didn’t know, to be fair. She felt a bit rough and tested when she got home. It did make me laugh, though. The thought of dozens of ticking time bombs just sat there around the manger.

Managed to go nearly 4 years without catching it (that I know of anyway) but finally succumbed last Tuesday with a positive test.
Felt properly shit for about 3 days, but it lifted pretty quickly after that. Wife has it now, as do my parents and I'm fairly sure the kids are about to come down with it, hopefully we can get it all out of the way before Christmas.

What's her balloon knot like?
Sorry.

What's her balloon knot like? Sorry. Probably knot enough to fully prevent at least a little air from escaping over time... (also sorry)

Not sure if what I've got right now is The 'Rona or not, feels different than it did the last time I had it. But my breathing is fucked by lurgy.
Whatever it is, it came on scarily quickly. Woke up Wednesday morning feeling fine, by 8pm that night I was suffering badly.
Sneezing and coughing, nose filling up and needing emptying every few minutes. Tried to lie down and sleep, could feel myself going fevery and alternating between hot and cold.
Eyes felt like they'd been repeatedly punched in, and the optic nerves wrapped around my frontal lobes and squeezing to create the worst headache I can remember having in years. The pain of that kept me awake all night.
Crawled out of bed some time in the morning and ran a bath, stayed in there for god knows how long but the steam helped my nose a bit. Painkiller-ed up enough that I was eventually able to get a few hours sleep in, until I coughed myself awake.
Spent most of yesterday either emptying my nose or coughing so violently that I was seeing stars every time it happened. Then the earache started as well, both sides. Headache returned with a vengeance during the night to the point I nicked some of my Dads' codeine to try and suppress it.
Today I currently have a clear nose (at the moment) but my ribs are bruised from all the coughing and every time I do cough, it feels like my lungs are collapsing.

Blue_Mike the rapid onset sounds like my experience with it (was fine in the morning, woke up from my afternoon nap feeling like someone had replaced my alarm with a sledgehammer to the skull)... You got worse symptoms though Get well soon

Unexpected side effect of Covid a few weeks down the line... Had some blood after doing some number 2's this week, GP reckons the hacking cough Covid has given me has also given me piles! Covid - 1 / Me - 0 On the plus side I got a finger up the bum, so not all bad!

Youngest (11) down now. Bit of a sore throat, mild temperature etc but otherwise fine. We were due down at the uber-cautious in-laws so thought we'd better check just in case. Was quite surprised when it pinged up. No idea what we'll do for Christmas dinner now, maybe punt it a day but they're already nervous about that. Good job I didn't have two meat hampers!

My grandparents have just tested positive for it, 2 days before Christmas. Great.

We're all testing negative so far. Will be the third time in the last 4 Christmases if we get a positive. Pretty much a Christmas tradition for the little one.

Didn’t know anyone bothered doing the tests now.
Pretty sure the FIL has it, sat on our sofa coughing away. Luckily I had it a few weeks ago, as he’s doing nothing to cover his mouth when he coughs.

We only tested as the father in law hasn't had it yet. Wife now wants us all to test on Christmas Eve, despite no one else being ill (well, my niece and her kids are hacking up but they tested negative before they arrived and since).

The girl has managed to monkey paw ‘I don’t want to go anywhere this Christmas’ into a positive test. Currently cancelling all our plans and making room in the freezer. Fuck sake.

My first Christmas with my gf this year and we're going to a pub lunch with her family on Christmas Day followed by a gathering back at hers after. I've had a cold for a few days, not really bad but I wouldn't say very mild either. Got hold of test kits today. You guessed it, positive. F. Expecting Christmas to be ruined and on my own this year, the gf says she's spoken to all her family and they are all ok with carrying on as normal. Meant to go to mum's tomorrow with the brother and his family and even he says just go as normal.
Has covid become just one of those things people put up with now? Second time I've had it and first time I was a hermit keeping away from everything in sight

That’s the discussion we are having now. The mother in law is all for YOLOing dinner at ours and the mrs isn’t keen.
I think this time it’s different because it seems like everyone knows a load of people who have had it recently and they haven’t been *that* ill. Like at a ‘fuck it. If I get it, I get it’ level.

I bloody hate that attitude towards it, but it seems to be all too common now. I'd personally put my foot down or just overplay your symptoms.

Meh, she’s a grown woman and she knows the risks. If she’s ok with almost definitely getting it I’m not going to put the brakes on

It's like five years ago, if someone had a bad cold/flu, would they still attend and participate in seasonal festivities? I think most people would have done.

Oldies can have had a booster, tho, and probably better protected!!!! The annoying thing is the girl was eligible for and has had her booster. Hopefully it will bounce straight off her.
