There were one or two times I felt like that. Its fairly linear but a couple of prompts are really easy to miss. The one that took me ages to work my way back to was when you have to jump up the wind tunnel you run against.

Completely stuck on where to go. Looking at the map of ? just leads me to a dead end. Last thing I got was the morph bomb. Just spending ages figuring out where to go… not having much fun.
The one that got me stuck was using the space jump in the water. Assumed I couldn't make sure of it underwater until I got the Gravity Suit

It’s here I’m stuck 3:30 youtu.be/zVEfO7WVWPsThat generator thing. How do I power it on to move up? I’ve clearly missed something really obvious

Don't give up on the game it's simply fantastic and the final hour or two are amazing

Now stuck on those two bosses which I know I need to use the seeker missile, but still bastard hard.

Just be patient with him, learn to dodge before attacking and look out for counter attack opportunities. His projectiles throw so much ammo and health at you that you should be at full health for most of the battle.
Having said that, definitely get all the collectibles. Thats the best part of any Metroid game.

Yeah, he was an absolute cunt. But read back the advice in the thread and he's doable. Upgrade lots and just die a lot learning the patterns, then it all clicks and you destroy him.

Just keep looping around holding the middle lock on button getting as many hits as you can. It's a slow method but they rarely catch up to you if you keep moving.

First 5 tries I contemplated sacking it off and calling it done. 5 tries later I could get to the latter phases on autopilot. It's actually a really satisfying boss it just takes a few goes to get into the swing of it. when I finally did it I was virtually at full health.

If I was 10 years younger I'd probably have the reflexes... just bastard hard for me. I jacked in Hollow Knight towards the end because it's just too damn fast for me.

Suddenly found myself in possession of this game, so I’ve given a proper go. Beat three bosses so far I think and there’s plenty to like, but I must admit I’m surprised at just how much friction there is. Having the critical path blocked by hidden blocks is just mind boggling to me. I’ve no real experience with metroid games so that’s part of it. Scanning all the maps for where I might have missed something only to realise I can’t get where I decided to go was not my idea of fun. Luckily there are guides!

I didn't find it a problem; it always seemed pretty obvious when you had to do it. Problem with using guides is you stop yourself from ever learning so you'll rely on the guide for the rest of the game. I think you can usually see where you need to go, there's just a floor or wall in the way, so shoot them

It’s probably fine if you’re in the right frame of mind from the start, but when I’m looking for this across 5 different maps I get annoyed

Last boss is getting the better of me, I can only do 3/4 attempts in one session so I spend the first 1 or 2 remembering the patterns then 1 or two getting to phase 4 and not quite getting there

Half a dozen attempts on the final boss and I'm getting nowhere. His attacks are so powerful, that the fights are over really quickly.
I just need to remember: dodge first, attack after...

And destroy the projectiles to replenish health. Don't worry about how few hits you can squeeze in when he attacks. Just focus staying in the game. Learn to read the attacks and top up on health. Eventually he goes down.
This boss only took me 3 attempts, but I always go in defensively with bosses. I probably spend longer in those battles, just nailed the dodging and counters, but as a result I managed to beat a few of them first time and most within a handful of attempts.

Spent ages trying to beat Experiment number Z-57. Then realised if you shot the legs off.. I could beat him easily.

IIRC when he attaches all 4 legs/arms to the walls before doing the fans bit you can shoot them off which results in less crap flying your way at the fans stage.

Aha, that stage! I figured that eventually - did not realize what it changed for the next phase, only that I got some rockets/health.

Same - It took me quite a few attempts, but I think I beat him on the 2nd go after realising that! Anyway, I'm making progress with the final boss - had about 6-7 attempts last night, generally getting further every time - the main issue I'm having is when he dashes across the screen and pins me in the corner for massive damage!

When he’s got the wings? He typically does that after the machine gun thing, so keep jumping high until he winds up the dash move then fall to the floor
