Someone talk me out of impulse buying the $70 deluxe edition when I’ll probably only play it solo for thirty minutes

Decent price point, but can't shake the feeling it will be shallow and not touched after a couple of weeks

15 years ago and I would have bought this without hesitation. I'm older and more stupid now so probably will still buy it.
Joking aside if there is a bunch of people playing it here I would jump on. Not sure how much legs it would have doing it on your own.

Good chunk of PS5 gameplay here. Looks pretty much exactly as you would expect. Looks like good fun once the numbers start ramping up towards the end.

Sounds like they haven't done anything with the haptics or triggers which is a bit rubbish. Hopefully be patched in.

I’m looking forward to this. I think it’ll be good fun, especially with a few friends. I think the ip and atmosphere will be enough to make it worthwhile for a few weeks or so before player numbers inevitably drop off.

Manaaged to get a copy yesterday. Can't play too much of it as my mates agreed to tackle it together. Plays pretty much as you expect it's not doing anything new or spectacular. It does seem pretty easy on the standard difficulty, I don't feel like I should be mowing down Xenomorphs with a pistol. There is a harder difficulty which seems to require you having better gear, not sure how obtainable it is if you're just starting. There's 2 further difficulty levels as well which turns on friendly fire etc but only obtainabl after beating the campaigns which appears to be pretty short? 12 maps it seems, took me around 40 mins to clear the first mission and that's with me taking it slowly and scouring it for the intel collectibles.
For the price of the game it seems fine. Pulse rifle goes BRRRRRRRRRR when you shoot it so you know.

Looks like how I expected it to, so happy with that.
Co-op Aliens sounds pretty good fun.

Just had a sobering moment with the game where I was abl to play with another human player who was fucking awful at the game, completely slowed everything down and on multiple points was afk. Right as we hit the final part of the mission the connection drops out and I'm back out on the ship, with no progress kept, no exp gained, nothing. This is true of most games of this type anyway, it's not specific to it but just keep in mind when playing that random players could have the potential to spoil the experience.

Never play with randoms. Ever.

Kinda interested in this because Aliens, but it does look utterly bang average.
Give it a few weeks and it might hit Gamepass to bolster diminishing player counts.
I will no doubt impulse(rifle) purchase it though.

Looks a decent little title for the price. If you didn't want seventy quid games, here you go.

Still interested in this, but I have plenty to play and I think it will be £15 by the time I get round to it. Saying that, will there still be active people online then? Would probably make sense to buy now.
Decisions.

I dare say the license will help keep it alive longer than other stuff. I don't think World War Z struggles to fill lobbies and this looks fairly similar.

Very true. Can't decide on pc or ps5. It's £24 on the former.

Depends, I only heard good things about World War Z through word of mouth hearing about how they constantly kept updating it with new maps and even gameplay mechanics so it seems like a robust post launch support to keep the players coming back. Haven't heard anything similar to this beyond a new class coming shortly after launch. And with only 12 levels it's a case of replaying them again, on higher difficulties maybe, to earn more cash to buy meaningless cosmetics.

It looks pretty good to me. Aliens horde mode is exactly what I was expecting. The lack of any variation in the location is probably the only thing I'm concerned about really.

SOOOOOOO want this to be good, but the gameplay vid looks a bit mindless, especially playing with randoms with zero coms

SOOOOOOO want this to be good, but the gameplay vid looks a bit mindless, especially playing with randoms with zero coms It can get mindless if you're just playing it on single player mode on the standard difficulty. The aliens die quick enough and the AI bots are good at covering for you and reviving if necessary. If you're paying attention and dealing with the aliens as they come then it shouldn't be too much of an issue. But the game itself says on higher difficulties that it doesn't recommend using the AI as your teammates so anything above standard difficulty could be a problem if you're playing it on single player alone.

Thanks Tuffty, yeah any longevity would seem to be in getting a communicative team in hard mode, classic Gears and beers horde game
