I like that they didn't even try to do lipsync on the NPCs, they just stand there staring at you while talking. That's some commitment to laziness.

Ha yeah. Bothered with the voice over but didn't lipsync. Why bother doing the voice over at all.

I've played the first three missions. It's alright.
I got suckered into the weekly challenge so have only played as the tech class... which means no flamethrowers, smartguns or pulse rifles. Having a sentry gun on my back is pretty cool though.
I quite like the hub idea, and how finding the collectible intels opens up dialogue with NPCs. Though as has been pointed out, it's a bit weird that they don't move their mouths. I try to just concentrate on the text. There are some nice nods to Alien Isolation.
The sound is really good, i think. And it's quite funny how if you don't have any friends and play solo, it gives you two android team members. They're pretty handy actually, at least on standard difficulty, and aren't able to quit the game and send you back to the ship.

Ran the first two missions with randoms. It's jolly good fun. The sound of my gun cuts out randomly through a mission but I'm sure that'll be patched. I think I'd rather run it with randoms than ai if it comes down to it. Gets properly mental at times.
Anyway I'm wuntyate on psn.

Finally got to play after a hell of a long day.
Cheap but great thus far.
Really enjoyed the first mission, until I got killed. Graphics are good enough.
The sounds are f#cking great. The pulse rifle. The scream of a dying alien. And the music nails it. Like, really nails it. I can't actually remember the music for Aliens (I can for Alien) but it really reminds me of it.
Some stuff is not intuitive. Couldn't work out how to start a bots game for a good while. Wish the bots didn't have to be synthetics.
I like the sense of false confidence the little dog aliens give you and then your heart sinks when a warrior shows up.
Sad to say I did die in mission 1.
Do you unlook a grenade launcher for the pulse rifle at any point?
I missed the first cut scene by accident, any way to bring it back? When I load up I'm in the hub.

I tried another game quite late before going to bed. I managed the second mission in the first campaign with another 2 randoms and it was great, couldn't find anyone for the third mission so got lumped with the bots. Did okay until the end and got melted. Although it says you can do normal with the AI, I wouldn't really do anything other than casual.
The other problem of course is that it doesn't find people the same level with you, so the second mission I did with the randoms, one of the them was insanely high level already.
Even so, it's so much fun I don't even care at the moment. It may be shortlived, but it's doing it's thing fine enough. End of that third mission was insane. Aliens all over the fucking place.

The second campaign leans more into Prometheus and is quite cool in providing a new environment to do the same stuff in. I'm enjoying it, playing everything on Standard difficulty with a mate and a bot atm.
Once I've cleared it all that way we'll move up a difficulty and find a 3rd player.

I think it's ok. Probably something I'll drop in and out of for a quick fix. After doing the first two missions last night I could already feel it getting a bit repetitive, so cant see many prolonged sessions on it.
The customisation actually seems pretty good and the aliens seem pretty well animated.
The pulse rifle sounds great, but seems a bit muted. All the guns do. Plus, someone forgot to tell the composer the noir film he was working on got cancelled and this was his new gig.

I enjoyed playing this last night. Lacking in polish but good fun especially with some friends. Tried matchmaking with randoms and couldn't find any games which was a bit weird on launch night but I don't know if there were matchmaking issues on Xbox.
The upgrade trees for equipment and gear seem well paced and give some replayability. Will be interested to see if there are any different locations in later missions.
