Uhhming and aahing over this. Don't know whether to get it digi in case the wee man wants to play it with me, or grab it on disc in case it's shit and I want to flog it.

I will say, of the levels I've played so far, there are sequences that are quite testing on standard difficulty when doing it single player. As an example, there's a stretch of  open walkway you need to reach after turning on the power but it is a long walk and aliens start overwhelming you from all angles. We got swamped first time round, so then we planned it out and moved through as a group of 3 slowly through the walkway, each of us checking our own angles and calling out any special alien types that come in. It was still chaotic but we got through. It's not insurmontable doing it on single player but I can only imagine how it would be on higher difficulties hence why they ask you to avoid playing with bots.

It's sounding exactly what I hoped it'd be to be honest. Relatively cheap popcorn fun that will fill a couple of weekends. Decent. Time to stick it on preload.

Just played the first mission with some randoms and enjoyed it quite a bit. Definitely nailed the feel of Aliens and the pulse rifle sounds just swell. They really need to patch in something on the adaptive triggers though, hate having guns without them now.

ACG is that person for me, he absolutely shit on it, I'm out! (till it arrives in the bargain bins in 2-3 months)

I bought it. It’s basically what we all thought: bit rough but solid, add points if you like Aliens. Nothing really bad about it, just lacks the top end budget and polish.
The upgrade trees look like they have potential for longevity, and it has a horde mode if you don’t want to keep running the campaign levels. No idea how many maps in that, but i suspect it would get support for a while.
For 30 squid it’s alright. Not going to set to the world alight and won’t surpass Isolation as the best recent Alien game, but if you want to shoot Aliens with mates it’s got you covered.
