Oh and if you're looking at BSc in Psychology and you're looking at Stage 1, then you pick EITHER DD102 OR E102. You do not pick both. Either of them is worth 60 points towards your 360 points. The next year you do DE100. Oh and registration closes today for this course for this year. Yeah I figured as much, so it kind of forces you to spread it over two years.
Yeah it's today's deadline that's freaking me out a bit as I'm worried it's going to force my hand, when I'm still to hear back from the uni, which would have the bonus of starting in Aug and because it's local, I could actually go and speak to the tutors if I need to. Yes, there is no realistic way that you can do 120 points a year and hold down a fulltime job. Well, you can, but its not a great idea if you don't want to have a stroke. Ref the local Uni, I would not worry about being able to speak to the tutors, you can do that with the OU. I found the OU to be really very good from both a teaching perspective and a support perspective. I prefered the distance learning method to face to face. However, if you are more into in person, then do that as long as the courses and prices are equivalent. I'd not rush unless you were sure as its a lot of money to cock up your choice for.

I was also looking at funding but I'm above the pay threshold for a grant it seems which is a shitter. I have the money for it. It's money that was going to be used towards a house deposit, but that's never going to fucking happen the way things are and even if it did, I need something that can radically shake up my future. I cannot abide looking ahead for the next 15 years and seeing myself in the same position. I can't do it. I refuse to.
Thing is, is that I know I'm not a stupid bastard, and I'm good at what I do, but I've been doing it so long I don't need to use my brain, at all. I'm bored. I'm soooo fucking bored. Wheras this is something that has appealled to me for going on ten years now and I never had the money and / or balls to do it.
I wasted my time when I was younger as I never knew what to do. Started one degree in Mechanical Engineering, left that, started a degree in Illustration, left that, ended up doing another degree that I ended up getting purely because I didn't want to quit again.
I know what I want to do now. Finally. Way to go me. Captain late-to-the-party again.

Yeah I've been in the role for 18-24 months and now it's part of my development plan with my employers so can't complain. Time to train and all of it paid for. Grab it while I can! My new place has the same deal but with AWS. They will pay an amount for each AWS certificate you pass up to £12,500. So I'm going to become an expert in...er.... that acronym lol my colleague works in aws. I'm just Google now, but I was in Azure for a bit. It's acronym bingo all the time. I hate it.

I'm back to learning Spanish (been doing it off an on the last few years). Problem is I'm REALLY not good with languages, so it's very slow going. Mueve el culo, vago! Mi burro enfermo está?

It's always funny going from Spanish to Italian where burro is either donkey or butter, definitely a false friend

Anyone here ever done a CIPS diploma? I’ve just taken 2 x level 4 modules (which fortunately I passed). If I keep it up I’ll have done the level 4 in around a year, which is the last/highest ‘entry level’ course and apparently equivalent to a first year at Uni. Any idea if it’s that much of a boon for job hunting etc? Not really interested in looking for a new job, just want to know if it makes more vaguely more employable if I get sacked/ made redundant!

I didn't go for the OU course in the end due to the tight deadline and feeling rushed. That's all good though as I'm going to have more time to investigate funding etc and hopefully hear back from the Uni soon to talk about what options I have. One thing is clear to me though. This is a certainty, and I'm going to do this one way or the other.

I think I will actually do that. I'l find out more soon hopefully and get a list of the text books, spend the time between now and course start to get into them. Thanks very much for the advice man, it's much appreciated.

Thanks very much for the advice man, it's much appreciated. You probably know, but there are loads of free sites out there for (insanely expensive) textbooks. Don't get fleeced, you'll need every penny when I come at you for the Foot Potato Terror cash

Oh? Interesting... Although I'd definitely want the physical book as opposed to a scan / PDF.

BTW, Monash University are doing a course "Introduction to Psychology" starting now for free on FutureLearm. I've done a few Monash courses and they are good.

Oh now that might be quite nice just to dip the toes in the water with in the meantime. It says 7 days free trial. I may jump in on that. This whole endeavor could be moot if it turns out I'm not actually capable of studying any more.
Right. I've enrolled. That's this weekend sorted. Come on brain, let's see if you can still do something other than learn Dark Souls bosses movesets.

You could check out the ACSuk courses too. I know they have a psychology section with a load of different paid courses. I guess it would depend on the type of accreditation they give and if that is important or not.
We are going to do a few of them because when we move I'll be fucked if we go back to doing the same old routine as now but really will need some new skills and knowledge to even stand a chance to pull it off.

What's the ACSuk? I'm being directed to a cleaning company!
This Futurelearn Monash one looks good though. I'm not particularly interested about the qualification at this point if I'm honest as it's more to start me in the study routine and try and get back into the learning mindset again to prepare me for when I DO start the "proper" degree later in the year, assuming that I manage to get everything worked out and get enrolled.

You get 6 weeks usually to finish the course. You don't have to do any free trials or anything. Just do the "free" option and ignore the "upgrades". You don't need them unless you want to be able to print out a certificate at the end.

It didn't let me do anything other than click a 7-day trial button. I saw other courses marked as free but this one was 7-day trial only?

Oh yes, you're quite right, apologies. Seems I highlighted one of the "not free" courses on Future Learn. Sorry about that. I've never clicked on the link before, so didn't realise they charged for it.

Not at all man. I've signed up for it regardless and it looks quite decent. it'll give me something to focus on over the next few weeks, so your nod in that direction is appreciated.
