I don't think it's inevitable as such, but I wouldn't bet against a world war in the next 10 years. I'm going to watch Threads to cheer myself up. just quoting myself for fun.
Bollock on about proxy wars and whatnot but there's a non-zero chance it'll spill over into actual world war.
Indeed. If we've formally intervened then hello slippery slope.

I hope the progressive side of Iran overthrows the militant, backwards islamists that run the country.
Thankfully the attacks by Iran pretty much failed and lets hope there is no more or its going to lot worse

I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that Biden, Netanyahu and Sunak are involved in a large scale middle Eastern war just as they are struggling in their respected polls.... Er - eh?

I’m hoping this is just a way of Iran saving face and just launching a relatively mild counter to show they’ve done something after Israel’s strike, while knowing there’s no intent to take it further. Might actually be ‘sensible‘ in the grand scheme of things.

The unrest and demonstrations over the past few years are likely top of the agenda for Khamenei and his cronies, after all they have only been a crazy theocracy since the 80's and there is a younger generation that want some measure of change.
Iran has to respond to an Israeli airstrike on a consulate and one that killed one their senior military commanders, for appearances and to show "strength" on the world stage and internally and to their allies.
They would have detailed and comprehensive intelligence on Israeli defenses, to the degree that they could determine to a rough degree the level of successful penetration (Matron)
Certainly when I was in charge of the Iranian missile command in 2015 I had a pretty good idea!

Might actually be ‘sensible‘ in the grand scheme of things. 30 ballistic missiles, 120 cruise missiles and 150 odd Shahed Drones isn't that mild to be fair. If the intent was for them all to reach their target - and in the unlikely event they all did - Israel would have to respond in kind. The de-ecalatory factor was actually the strength of air defense rather than the size of action from Iran.

Cool, WW3 because the US likes oil being cheap. That a bit of an outdated view, look up the shale oil revolution if you have a bit of time. Basically the US has more than enough oil locally, and it’s rapidly losing interest in the middle east.

So are Israel going to respond and make this shit a whole lot worse? Also excuse my ignorance but why did they actually attack the Iranian complex in Syria in the first place?

So are Israel going to respond and make this shit a whole lot worse? Also excuse my ignorance but why did they actually attack the Iranian complex in Syria in the first place? There was a very high value target stationed there at the time, who they took out with the strike. Have Israel struck Iranian soil in recent history? In the sense that last night's barrage of missiles was pointed at Israel itself in response to the Iranian Consulate in Syria being hit (by 2 missiles). And Iran launched 150 missiles at Israel in response. If Israel were to respond in the next few days - which I fear they will - it would have to be orders of magnitude larger than what Iran tried last night. And I dont think the Iranian air defense would have a similar 95% intercept rate as can't rely on Iron Dome, Saudi and Jordan intercepts or UK, French, US Air Force who were all shooting down the Iranian cruise and ballistic missiles

Embassies, wherever they are stationed, are considered sovereign to the country of origin. Attacking the Iranian embassy is an attack on Iranian soil.

Spent £30+ on tinned shite and looked at it and thought what a pathetic difference that would make if everything went to shit. Bit of a waste of time really.

Well you're doing it wrong, you need rags, alcohol, and various bits of scrap metal. Maybe some empty bottles and a couple bricks.

You could put anything in those tins and by the time you need them and find out it was an old condom or something there's no seller left to complain to because they've been turned to dust in nuclear jihad

I've still got around 1400+ sachets of "cup noodles" left over from 2020 as well as over 2k pairs of surgical gloves. The latter of which I've started to find alternative uses for e.g. one pair of gloves = 8 "free" condoms, or ten depending on the user.

Despite funding various groups in the area, Iran have been fairly measured even reluctant to respond directly. After Israel bombed a literal Iranian embassy in a foreign country, because someone they wanted was there...they absolutely had to respond, to project a show of strength.
What worries me is Netanyahu knows he needs almost a perpetual state of war to save himself. 71% of public in Israel recently voted that he should resign the moment the war ends, with various investigations into bribes, fraud and corruption waiting for him once he does.
The scary thought is whether the OTT response in Gaza and now blowing up Iranian Embassies are intentionally trying to fan the flames of war, dragging everyone else into the mess for the benefit of one.

Market the noodle filled gloves as an alternative to paper and polystyrene noodle cups.

You won’t even have to put your name on your noodle soup filled glove when you leave it in the work fridge, everyone will know it’s yours

May be on to something here actually. Could have a different flavour within each finger of the glove, that you can then optionally mix together within the palm. Think Mueller Corners meets a bento box with an umami latex flavour profile. And you get a free glove once you've finished your delicious meal.

So, how would everyone fare in the coming apocalypse? Assuming we're not incinerated in the first wave.
I'm a mechanical design engineer, haven't worked on hand tools for years and hated when I did anyway. Might be able to start a fire if I put my mind to it. Pretty much a pacifist/coward when it comes to fighting. Never fired a gun. Physically unfit, so unlikely to outrun the mutants. If anything happened to my glasses, I've got shit eyesight. I know some economics, but in a world without money that's fucking useless.
I suppose I could tell people how to build houses, but I wouldn't be able to build one myself. This is why I'm a socialist.

I think the vast majority of people would be useless in an apocalypse as we have everything done for us so we’ve never had to learn most of the skills that would keep us alive.
