Only getting 88% of the vote when you're basically the only candidate and control all the media and polling stations is a bit shit if you ask me. If that's the best Putin can manage with a totally stacked deck, imagine how bad his polling numbers would be in a remotely free or fair election. I guess its done to look like its a real election? Not sure why he is bothering as everyone know's its rigged
Pootin can get 115% of the vote and his dumb supporters would say "russia has the best election, unlike west"

Give it another 20 years and he may drop to 75%.
It's a farce.

"If the Romanians like it, it's their business, of course, but the NATO suicide club drags ordinary civilians into such adventures that can end very badly for their families and children. I'm not trying to scare anyone, I'm just reasoning logically. There won't be any benefit for Romania from this, and there will be more threats, this is a fact," said the senator in a discussion reported by Russian media.
Russia is in no way a Mafia state.

So now, after blocking it themselves, the US and UK are pushing for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and Russia and China are blocking it just to mess with them.
Imho, the US might have to resort to the old Toddler Reverse Psychology trick and threaten to veto a ceasefire just to get Russia to vote for it.
It'd be funny if it wasn't so depressing.

Fucking incompetent cunts running everything. And people wonder why mental illness is a thing. Any child/teenager looking at the worlds leaders and their inability for a bit of common sense or decency, would become distracted, confused and just think "what is the point in all this". It's all just a bit criminal these days but without the perpetrators having any worries about consequences.

The recent US spending bill that passed also barred any UNRWA funding for a year. The provisional ICJ ruling has failed to do much unfortunately.

Gaza ceasefire motion passes at the UN security council, it'll unlikely have any real effect but does show that the US has lost patience with Israel. They abstained rather than vote for it but it's movement. www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-68658415

IDF killing more aid workers, this time from World Central Kitchen and included British, Australian and Polish volunteers. Is it any wonder support for the Israeli army’s actions is dwindling and dwindling, even in the USA.
Pausing operations in the zone for now. The cynic in me would say the strikes had the desired effect

Its scary that the EU has a couple of Putin's bootlickers as country leaders now. Can we send them farage and the UK can rejoin the EU now?

Its scary that the EU has a couple of Putin's bootlickers as country leaders now. Can we send them farage and the UK can rejoin the EU now? Public support for Ukraine in the EU seems to be waning, surprisingly even among ex-USSR countries, who have always been most distrustful of Russia due to their past involvement. And populist leaders are making use of this situation. It's all a bit disheartening.

Slovakia, Hungary and Bulgaria, mostly. The former two are frankly irrelevant as long as they don't gum up the works in the EU. Bulgaria is interesting considering its geographical location but so far it's public support that's lukewarm while the government has kept itself aligned with the EU/Nato. They're also trying to enter Schengen, so probably aren't in the mood to piss of the rest of the EU at the moment. And Austria is a bit crap, but it always is and always has been. I hope the EU elections don't turn into a shitshow though. Please go vote in June if you're in an EU country. You can find some info and set up a reminder here: elections.europa.eu/en/

saw this on reddit Leaked audio reveals Russian plan to occupy Kazakhstan territory. In the recording, Russian General and State Duma deputy Andriy Gurulyov unequivocally states that Kazakhstan is slated to be Russia’s next victim.
the comments mention Kazakhstan has orbital launch facilities (which is correct)

I'd want a slightly better source than some mil blog and reddit for that, but yeah, Kazakhstan asserted control over Baikonur not that long ago (I forget when, but it was after 2022). They've also been very critical of the CSTO, didn't recognise the annexations and sent some symbolic humanitarian aid to Ukraine, so Russia probably isn't happy with them.
Kazakhstan has good relations and lots of investment from China though, so starting shit there in the immediate future seems very dumb, but who knows.
