A depleted military already in an unexpected war of attrition, I wouldn't rate there chances of success fighting two wars.

Whatever happened to the Chechen hardman/Putin's pet dog? Was showing his face quite a bit early doors and offering his men.

I just read on bbc that there were three drone strike on one of the nuclear reactors earlier. Russia blamed Ukraine and Ukraine said it wasn’t them. Who ever it was could you please not launch explosives at nuclear reactors.

Kyiv major powerplant is completely destroyed.
Lack of aa allows russia to bomb cities efficiently
Lack of artillery shells and other ammo allows russian soldiers to take over lands killing retreating Ukrainians.
Seems war is lost

I’m sure the Republican Party are proud of their achievements. Reagan must be spinning in his grave.

Fucking republicans, is fucked up how much power they have in the US
Also you have idiots in the US (in a 2 party race for POTUS) saying well Biden is too old, so I am going to vote for some 3rd party... then have shocked face if Trump gets in again

If Ukraine manages to incapacitate Russia’s oil production it would change everything, I don’t think China is doing this for free. Especially the oil wells in the north are vulnerable, if the oil stops flowing in winter these wells will freeze (same thing happened in the early 90’s) and will need to be re-drilled. They’ve had some success in the last months hitting refineries 1000 km east of Moscow. Especially that one strike with what looked like a remote controlled cessna was erm… striking. Means they have almost no radar tracking far inland.

If Ukraine falls I think Moldova will quickly be changing its constitution to abandon its neutrality and hurriedly want to join NATO. If Russia wins I can't see anything but a major war before the decade is out, the fucking about in not giving Ukraine the weapons they need and limiting how they can use them has screwed us all.

I guess it depends if Israel and Iran go to war first. God this decade has been something else.

I don't think it's inevitable as such, but I wouldn't bet against a world war in the next 10 years.
I'm going to watch Threads to cheer myself up.

I’m not sure about a war but certainly a power shift east. As usual it’s all about powerful people willing to let thousands if not milions die to stay in power. The vast majority of people in any of these countries have zero interest in war it’s just the few causing chaos to stay on top.
Maybe a fools hope but I really don’t see Russia striking a nato country. It’s not like they’ve just taken Ukraine with ease.
Also china. At the start of the war they were always neutral but said many times that countries borders should be respected. mean while supplying Russia with weapons and buying Russian oil. Again just power plays to shift global power to them at the cost of hundreds of thousands of lives. I guess being cynical we could argue it’s what “us” British did for hundreds of years and still do to some extent.
As a civilisation we have moved on in so many ways but we are still under the same controls we have always been but now they are so much more complex and interlinked than ever before.
I know a few people who have a weeks worth of water and food etc in the house and I’ve always thought they were mental. I think I might actually do the same this week at some point.
Finally I still think the Middle East is the more likely area for it to spiral out of control that the Ukraine front. China, Russia and USA all have many fingers in many pies in that region and can all fund their proxy wars without it needing to go to a direct conflict. If that is the case then places like the UK will suffer in terms of costs. Energy would sky rocket and therefore food and everything we buy and last years inflation will seem pleasant by comparison.

We're back to Cold War style proxy-wars, only this time it's the US vs China, and the US is half out of it due to the Republicans.

Reports of Iran launching attacks against Israel. Fuck sake. I'm no fan of Iran, but Israel did launch a strike against the Iranian embassy in Damascus. We can talk about who are the good/bad guys in this, but if the attack had been on the US or UK embassies and that had resulted in a military response, would people be talking about this in the same way? If I were a cynic, I would argue that the strike on a foreign embassy, to provoke a military response from the other side, to achieve the end goal of committing the US to a more active role in the region seems kind of obvious, that it seems that the only goal in prolonging conflict, is to keep Netanyahu in power, because as soon as the war is over, he's toast. There's a problem with strongmen or dictators who are involved with war, in that they don't get to retire peacefully. Nor should they.

I'm sure it's a complete coincidence that Biden, Netanyahu and Sunak are involved in a large scale middle Eastern war just as they are struggling in their respected polls....

I think this is the last thing Biden needs tbh, I'm not sure another conflict where there are no good outcomes for him politically is what he'd want right now.
Sunak's already toast so he can get in the sea.
When I say "handful", I really mean two.

Bollock on about proxy wars and whatnot but there's a non-zero chance it'll spill over into actual world war.
