I'm not bothered about consoles until the next proper hardware generation, but I was hoping they'd announce the haptic-enabled controller that was leaked alongside the cylindrical Xbox. I want to get a new controller, but I was holding out, expecting a fancy one this year.
Sod's law I'll get one at Christmas and they'll release the new one in March, or some shit.
The lack of any mention whatsoever of handhelds, despite all the rumours, solidifies my opinion that the next console generation will be a Series X-style monolith for the front room and the Series S equivalent will effectively be an Xbox Switch.

I love me a Bliz cinematic... Fuck yeah they sure know how to visually pack a punch. That light show that bounced around the sky and then literally ripped open the heavens was awesome, flicked back a few times to rewatch.

Have to say, that was utterly stacked as far as games I might actually be interested in. Guess I'll be keeping my *cough* son's Gamepass going for another year

I'll have to watch the Perfect Dark trailer again but I liked it at the time. The gameplay looked different to your typical FPS It looks pretty typical 1st person action-adventure. Other than the record voice/use recording bit, it shows dodgy movement, dodgy shooting, and a canned takedown. It reminds me of the Syndicate remake, which isn't a great comparison. I'm hoping it ends up more Butcher Bay/Dishonored though. It really does look very proof of concept atm. The Fable bit also, looks like a CGI trailer interspersed with 5 second target gameplay demos rather actual gameplay. Here's what walking though a town will look like. Here's an example interaction with a fan, and one with a hater. Here's a weapon takedown. Here's a what ranged combat could look like. It doesn't feel like there a game behind it yet. I'm seeing a lot of praise for both of these all over the place and I'm obviously just not seeing what everyone else is. I hope Fable pulls it all together as I'd like to see that one come back strong. There's a lot of opportunity for a fun, light-hearted open world RPG again. Although it feels like Dragon Age might be trying for it now too :/

the original State of Decay 3 trailer was 3 years ago, I thought it was less but its not very good the new trailer had no gameplay still. Guessing the game is going to be rough at launch like the 2nd game then

Didn't watch this live, but watched some last night and finished off over lunch. Thought it was a good show. Xbox always does seem to have the best show though, likely because you know that all these games can easily be played with just he cost of a Game Pass sub rather than £50-70. The price of admission means I'm going to be much more happy with a "that looks worth a go" and not looking out for the must plays as much.
Personally thought Perfect Dark looked excellent and don't really get the naysayers here. Looked like they were very much going for a Deus Ex or Dishonoured style free form play style that allows multiple approaches. Of course, that could all be a lie and it will just be a linear experience where you have to use specific tools at specific points, but if it is an immersive sim mixed with Mirror's Edge movement then I'm really looking forward to it.
Avowed looked fine to me as well. If it weren't from Obsidian then I would like not pay it much attention, as it looks very generic, but I certainly wouldn't say it looked bad. Waiting on reviews to see if it is worth the time, but I'm not dismissing it at the moment.
Full remaster of Age of Mythology is cool. I have a memory that the Atlantian race added in the expansion were kind of broken and overpowered, so hopefully they will be tweaking them to be more balanced (I could also be misremembering and/or was bad at the game and they were fine).
Thought the Indy cutscene was fun, but want to see some more extended gameplay. Seems to feature a bit of first person fisticuffs, which is tricky to get right. Hopefully it will lean more into being a puzzle game, but I am surprised that they didn't go third person for this, as surely the running, jumping, punching and whipping we associate with the character would be better served from that perspective.
Metal Gear Solid, Atomfall, Expedition 33, South of Midnight, Flintlock, Stalker 2, DOOM, Wuchang and Mixtape all looked varying degrees of good to great too.

ed: in response to apollo...
I wouldn't read anything into that, honestly. It's as likely just part of the marketing campaign - lead with a cinematic tonal piece, then reveal gameplay, then deep dives, etc.
Similarly Gears should have something to show but there's mileage in teases.

I hope id took note of the split in opinions between Doom16 and Eternal. Was quite a marked distinction between between people who loved the additions in Eternal and people who loved the simplicity of 16. Personally fall in the latter camp, so I hope Dark Ages has less micromanagement, or there is less sense that one must pay attention to that stuff instead of just killin'. Dark Ages trailer looked gorgeous though, with Doom's beautiful weighty combat.

Whoever decided to include skulls of your enemies getting ground into bullets needs a hefty raise.

State of decay had gameplay integrated into the CG didn't it? Looked very much like some of the shooting bits were gameplay.

I don't know what FPS/'first person action adventure' games people are comparing it to when they say it looks dated and clunky. It looks more Dishonored than Doom but that suits what they seem to be going for. The movement, sliding, gunplay and takedowns look really cool. Nice art direction too
What's dodgy looking about the shooting?

Agree that it's a canned takedown but I don't get the comments about dodgy movement and shooting either - looked good to me.

It's not fluid. It's not really dynamically shooting multiple enemies, it's one shot, pause, re-aim, one shot, pause, etc. Starfield looks better and that's more of a hybrid than this. Compare it to Dying Light or any other modern 1st person action adventure. It does look more Dishonored, but the shooting in that is also pretty shit I'm hoping it ends up more Dishonored in the gameplay choice, not mechanically. The movement is the same. For a parkour-style thing it doesn't flow very well. Or it's not presented very well, but it's sort of the same thing when you're advertising movement in your game via a trailer.

The movement looked like a more polished Mirror's Edge - the climbing and sliding animations seemed absolutely fine.
There's some shooting 'jumps' from person to person but there's a couple of moments where it shows a more natural switch between shooting different people and objects too. Part of me thinks the 'pauses' will actually be a quick-kill mechanic similar to action films like John Wick but that's likely me just guessing.
Maybe I'm just happy to finally see the thing and glossing over the cracks.

I mean, all trailers are wip before the game launches. Doom is wip but looks smooth as fuck. It's further along, sure, and not the exact same genre, but it's also just showing the thing better. I've watched it a few times, I don't get the praise. It might just me (or the handful of FGers saying the same thing overall) but it looks a whole lot less showable than I feel like it should for a gameplay reveal.

People are picky fuckers I just saw a game that looked cool and I'm interested to see more of. The shooting just makes it look more tactical than run and gun. There seems to be a lot more to it than just mowing down bad guys
I think people should stop over analysing trailers. I probably won't watch the Doom one again now. They give you a feel for a game and that's what the trailer for Perfect Dark did for me. I'll wait for some proper gameplay before judging the minutia of it. Poring over trailers is for YT content monkeys

Went back to rewatch PD trailer.
I think it's a very good trailer. It wants to show it is going to have gorgeous settings, it shows some Deus Ex style puzzles/hacking, then options for stealth progression, then parkour mechanics, then the shooting mechanics.
It does a bit of Zach Snyder slow-mo and theatrics but I got enough to make me interested. Extended gameplay will show whether there is a decent gameplay loop (and AI!).

I'm really surprised there's still fuck all from the Activision merger apart from putting Diablo on Gamepass and the questionable activity of putting the latest CoD on there.

Would've liked to have seen something from Double Fine or Rare but can't have everything.
Is Everwild even happening?

Didn't they scrap everything and start again on it? It feels like one of those games that was announced far too early.

But that's the same as Killer Instinct, that's their baby and it was done two other devs who made a fucking awesome game. I dunno, I feel like they have a choice and they chose not to make those games.

Everwild got rebooted after they kicked the lead off the project.
It's apparently now more Viva Piñata than the survival game it was originally pitched as. SoT really has trapped Rare over the years due to its success. KI? Little to do with, Battletoads, same and now PD. I can see either Double Fine or Toys for Bob being given the Banjo IP over Rare.
