I think Andor’s direct line into Rogue One and A New Hope should spare it from the “Psyche! Loads of Jedi survived the Empire” video game-y approach of the shows set between the original and sequel trilogies.

You can’t wave a glo-stick around without hitting at least 3 Jedi.
Place is too damn crowded. Used to be a time when it was just some old duffer out beyond the Dune sea and that was about it.
Now everyone has a lightsaber and you can’t get away from them. I’m sure Order 66 was just to get a bit of room around the place.

I think the canonical explanation is that a whole bunch of Jedi had been off on a club trip to another galaxy on the back of a giant space turtle and they only get back after RotJ.
It's in one of the comics.
