Really they just need to do what everyone used to do and not worry about Canon so much. They'd make much better shows if they just ignored the sequel trilogy. Not like other games or books had to respect Kyle Katarn being an Uber Jedi.
This goes for everything though. It sometimes feels only Games Workshop fly the flag of just not giving a fuck anymore, even then they've got way worse than when I was a kid.

What I really want is them to make something that isn’t just fitting things in between the existing films. Those are fine as occasional stories, could even do them as an anthology or flashbacks within something else.
Create new interesting characters, have some new problem brewing that could then feed into a film or something. Imagine if Andor had been made before the original films came out then ANH was made.
I’ll continue to expect disappointment and for unknown reasons won’t just give up on it all.

The fourth and fifth episodes were alright, though I guess Ahsoka is Gandalf now.

The pacing of the show still seems weird. Last two episodes were better, but there's now just three left.

That shot in the flashback where you briefly glimpse Anakin as Vader for a second as the battlefield smoke drifts by was a very nice moment. I’m enjoying the show but it is taking its sweet time getting anywhere. Should be interesting to see where things go from here even if I’ve no idea why I need to care so much about their lost mate. They keep telling us how important he is and sad they feel but no one appears to show any emotion about it apart from maybe Tennant-bot.

There's just enough about it that redeems it above BoBF and Kenobi.
I quite enjoyed the fifth too, seems flashbacks are it's "thing it does well", and harked back to the Grogou escape sequence in Mando as something quite nicely done. Even if I don't have any clue as to the lore (world between worlds or something something?) and the stupidity of "new planet, don't wander" straight to "stay here alone as we play coastguard".
But those gratuitous mustard pant shots. All is forgiven Winny, and it wasn't anywhere near tediously talky as I feared last week, but it feels like they're absolutely wringing a S2 out of this. Someone predicted the Thrawn shot in the trailer as an end-of-season cliffhanger and it seems likelier by the week.

It's still shit though. Star Wars is basically in an eternal loop of season 12+(at best and largely on season 20+) Simpsons.

I don’t know if they meant to imply this in the ‘horrors of war’ scene but showing Commander 12-Year-Old on the front lines means the Jedi definitely deserved to be wiped out for using child soldiers. Yeesh, that was grim.

Yeah that was me, but I was also under the impression that it’s 6 episodes, but apparently it’s 8? So I’ll adjust prediction. Ep 6 will be “looking for ring ship” then finding it. ep 7 will be “looking for Thrawn ship” then finding it. ep 8 will be “try to stop Thrawn ship going back to original Galaxy and failing” and look, maybe they’ll go “hey, we found this blue guy in a whole galaxy straight away. He stands out!” And ep 8 will be a last ditch attempt to stop him IN the og galaxy (and failing) but however it lands, it’s setting up the big crossover event between all these shows with Thrawn as the big bad. hopefully Ray Stevenson’s character has a planned epic death or resolution in this series so the next one doesn’t have to awkwardly deal with his absence.

Yeesh, that was grim. And one of the flashbacks was to the conquest of Mandalore, which means she took part in the genocide and total eradication of an entire race. A battle that I thought had always been referred to as an Imperial crime until now where Ashoka has revealed it was the Republic and the Jedi who did it.

Ahsoka’s thing was about something-something capture Darth Maul. Made even more confusing by one of the mandos getting murdered had a spikey, Maul-esque Helmet. This episode more than any other pretty much needed you to have watched the other fluff, which I have not. The significance of force kid has absolutely passed me by.

Aye, Jedi and Mandos have always had beef, but it wasn't until the Empire was manifest, they destroyed Mandalore, but you're supposed to know/remember that based on the TIE bomber scene in another show (Mando). Or the other show (CW). There's a problem here, isn't there ?

Having watched Rebels and The Clone Wars I'm quite enjoying it, but I can see that it wouldn't make much sense if you hadn't seen those. It does seem to assume an awful lot of knowledge with only the odd line of exposition thrown in.

Man, how can such a shallow pew-pew space wizard show need so many footnotes Because it’s largely fan service to 13 seasons of cartoons. They (probably, rightly) seem to identify their audience as mainly 25 year-olds.

I liked the lightsaber fighting stuff with Anakin and the clone wars, it’s one of the few bits so far that seems to be about the actual characters instead of their map hunt and other dumb shit. Not the faintest idea why it was happening though.
The whole thing is so slow and seems to think it’s exciting and a big spectacle when it’s 5 minutes of space whales moving slowly or people standing in silence or talking slowly. These first 6 episodes could’ve been an hour in total.

/small shrug/
They’ll do the bit with Thrawn or Ezra right at the end of the last episode. Just to fuck with everyone.

Well, that was as fresh as anything I've seen SW related. I know of Thrawn from snippets and memes, and a great introduction, despite the stormtroopers overdoing the bdsm wraps a tad.
Gold face is instantly more interesting than Phasma(?) ever was, the samurai themed bandits straight from Kurosawa/Visions Ep1, Eroks...genius. I still have no idea on the whole witches, folklore, Ezra backstory or why Thrawn doesn't know of Ashoka given her dogged pursuit, but I could read/await exposition later. And just what is Titus going to Pullo ? He's up to something.
Thoroughly enjoyed that, even the bad-dog-horse skit.
