Oh, no no, it's not like New Trek at all...
Mandalorian is allowing itself to have fun in the universe with space wizards wielding glow sticks for weapons... New Trek is all about the seriousness, gritty, emotional, shouting...
Andor is the serious show, and a damn good one, Mando is just a romp... Who knows what will happen next week?
I do however think they've deliberately made it more comedic. Mando used to refuse to work with droids because of his childhood trauma, now he just seems annoyed with them...

The scene where Christopher Lloyd is there as Lizzo talks, cuts to her she turns to Bo and it cuts back to show he's completely vanished is so amateurish, it was like watching SNL. The whole scene had this weird feeling that a joke was ready be said to studio applause at any min. I like Bryce Dallas Howard's episodes but this wasn't my favourite When JB and co are talking to the arrested person at the end there’s this weird jump cut edit when he’s doing the exposition. Like he’s got a case of the Marty’s and they had to blend it. Look out for it, it’s weird. 50 minute side quest at Project Eden and not much happens. Felt like I’d dropped into a Buck Rogers episode. I was expecting them to start dancing or something.

It felt like a school play. Lizzo isn't a good actress, and Lloyd just doesn't have the necessary intensity and conviction anymore, sadly, as he muddled through his lines. It was all just an unnecessary distraction from the story. Jack Black's performance was good at least.

Nobody's performance was good, it was like watching amateur dramatics

It was like watching Jack Black make a YouTube video with a better green screen than usual.

That whole planet felt very Prequel-y.
I do like that it was essentially another live action cartoon episode though.

It was a missed opportunity to look at what a reintegrated Imperial planet looked like, have some political drama, maybe a misguided resistance operation causing trouble where you're not sure they're in the right. Can't help feeling Andor would have spent three episodes on the planet, with Cassian getting involved and making everything much worse (and a lot of people more dead).

I now see why they gave this episode a special advanced screening at Celebration, easily the best of the season by a looooooooooooooong way.
Yes. Yes. Yes!

I'm behind, but I enjoyed the third episode this season. Nice little bit of world building.

What shall we put in the Manadalorian this week ? EVERYTHING And yet, it's more Saturday cartoon than ever before, and just feels...desperate ? Surprising ? Messy ? Deep breath, lots of ship/fleet porn, a new baby carrier, the volunteering, NO NO NO, we pirates now, sudden Gojira, and topped off with FUCKING IMPERIAL CLONE(?) MANDALORIAN JUMP TROOPS. Fuck it, make the Praetorians Mando too. At this rate...
Oh, and evil crown helmet suit for Gus. Because he's been a MANDALORIAN FANBOY ALL ALONG.
Then there's stuff like the cuts to the Armourer flying up, why ? You'd presume it would be a bait/switch -"that's an ACTUAL Imperial fleet oh no" but it just leads nowhere, so why the cuts back and forth ? To contrast against the subtle appearance of obviously Imperial sets below ? It just felt so off. Yeah, mixed bag. Love all the shots, but they've made an absolute arse of just throwing cool shit everywhere and not really focused on making it feel natural. It's pure matinee/cheese stuff now, and as a result, I just couldn't give a fuck.

I'm fully expecting the Armourer to be a traitor, anyone else could have taken the sick back to the fleet but she decides to do it rather than finding the frickin' forge? Nothing sus about that at all.

Why not ? Pretty established trope, the mysterious guiding figure acting good for a bad grand scheme And it would certainly make more sense as to why she was so chill with the "no helmet, cool, go get everyone" idea. But it'll be on par with a mid-budget Spanish soap opera reveal. In fact, Pascal removing his helmet and 4th wall shock face at the camera would be perfect.

I think the traitor is either Axe Woves, who is a cunt at any rate, or just the stolen imperial ships they are using, broadcasting their every spoken word and movement back to Gideon.

To earlier conversation, I don't know if anyone has a copy, but back when the Armourer was forging that Beskar plate for Grogu, I seem to remember a cut to exposed circuitry, and thinking why does it need all that ? Fancy Mando tech or something ? Am I having a moment, or did that actually happen, and is Grogu the tracked device again ?

Managed to catch up with this and Christ it really is a hot mess. It went from "Djarin desperately want to get back with his cult of weirdos because reasons" to "somehow, Gus Fring has returned", neither of which are particularly interesting to me. It's a show with incredible production values in desperate need of a plot.

That was fucking awesome all round.
It’s boring always trying to find fault with something. Especially when you’ve got to come up with ways something was shit even when it obviously was far, far from it.

I STAND BY WHAT I SAID
Despite that, I'd say it was an Empire Strikes Back-level masterpiece compared with whatever the fuck they were trying to do with Boba Fett.

The episode was called spies plural, and apart from "The most obvious spy ever" I hadn't even considered Whizzo's idea...

It's pantomine stuff all around but at least it looks nice. I fully expect a return from our Shortland Street hero next week and Bo riding the mythosauras.

It feels like this season is being plotted by an 11 yr old just throwing ideas at his toys. This weeks felt like it condensed almost an entire movie into 45 minutes of barely thought through but cool looking ideas. Its a live action cartoon but its plenty of fun to just see where the ride is going next.

"We need to go back to Mandalore and find the Great Forge."
"OK, so we just go to that landing site we were at last time, next to that entrance to the city from where we can easily find the right way to go? You're shaking your head why are you shaking your head."

Nothing sus about that at all. I just read a fairly compelling article pointing out a raft of clues from all 3 seasons, but I’ll still be quite shat off if it’s the case as I like the character and am pretty tired of contrived “everyone’s a traitor!” plot lines. If you want to surprise me, let’s have a GOOD cult leader. Where are all the good cults?
