Oooh. No-one mentioned that before.
But seriously, what happened to the fun 30 minutes episodes that The Mandalorian was so good at?

Yeah but those are getting down under 45 once you deduct the Disney+ extended end credits penalty They also allude to Jawa sex. JAWA SEX BILL. Ahem. Halfway through latest. We'll ignore the foundling stupidity, and give credit to the Grogu flashback. That, in a TV show not long ago would've been a series of crass 5 second edits to minimise the CGI cost. The fact they just threw that whole sequence in - thumbs up, ropey saber work and all. It still doesn't beat the hazy, Bo chasing birdie into sunset shot a bit earlier though, that was gorgeous. It really does look great in most scenes which is the only reason I am still watching. I think there is a disparity between who Disney are aiming it at (Kids), and a bunch of oldies (like us by and large) who look at the excellent production values at odds with drivel coming out of their mouths and at the same time are puzzled by the weird motivations of characters. Lots of people are happy to ignore many of the problems and enjoy the Saturday morning picture show aspect of it. Me, I think they could do so much better. BTW, who has the dark sword, wasn't that fairly important, last one I saw with it was Bo when she was babysitting Mando and muppet. Umm, does it even matter at this point

There’s no way it’s aimed at kids. The number of kids that would have even the slightest interest in all this clan bullshit must be even fewer than adults that care.

Babycart and Samurai was all we wanted when we didn't know that, and now we have a Marvelised universe of overlapping info for various upcoming shows, that might not appear, obscure references and easter eggs for the die hards, and an abysmal attempt to make a "bad" guy appeal...by making him dumb as rocks and teaming him up with scooter mods.
And that lack of writing chops has now leaked, no, pissed itself over Mando, and it seriously needs to focus on what core story it wants to follow, because it's just a mess at the mo.
And Mando still has the Dark Saber, it was dragged around in the opening episode for a few cuts.

Oooh. No-one mentioned that before. But seriously, what happened to the fun 30 minutes episodes that The Mandalorian was so good at? I think the latest episode IS about 30 minutes. The previous episode was about 20 minutes long but they made it a sandwich either side a 40 minute episode of Coruscant Street.

Coruscant Street. Love it.
Finished second half, and apart from the stupid setup, I can't say it was as terrible as early comments posted. Weathers directed, and it was perfectly okay, just not great.
Whoever called everyone riding the various creatures into battle has a good shout, Mythosaur, Rancor, reared birbs etc. It'll also be absolutely ridiculous if it does happen.
Bryce has the episode after next, so hopefully it'll pull it's shit together in the second half.

I doubt we will see them being ridden into battle. But I can see the Mandalorian teaching them how to use tin openers so they can eat armoured opponents quickly.

I think the problem is that *The Mandalorian* is fine. One weird, seemingly anachronistic guy going around making life hard for himself to stick to an old code nobody cares about is kind of cool. Many Mandalorians, however, just makes it look dumb. Exactly my thoughts. Much like Boba Fett, Mando's starting to feel sidelined in his own show. Mando works well as a "lone ranger" with a sidekick, but it seems like they're actively trying to centre the show other characters now, which doesn't play to the strengths of the show's premise of a lone "cowboy in space". Maybe we are going to come to learn the Mandalorian of the title isn’t who we thought it was for at least two whole seasons Grogu will become THE Mandalorian and do something that makes the title stick

Season concludes with Grogu riding one of those birds firing paintball darts to save the Mythosaur from being eaten by a gang of bike riding sarlaccs. Gets rewarded with a 3 inch piece of Beskar ankle armour.

Why has this episode of the Mandalorian turned into Andor?

Well this week was a huge improvement but still a bit clunky however I don't really care too much because Zeb fuckin' Orrelios made his live action debut, voiced again by Steve Blum, presumably before he becomes part of the Ahsoka series

I don't think I'll continue. I was never much of a fan of the series and this season has just been so stupid and even more boring. The kids love it though for some weird reason, maybe just because of baby Yoda.

Yeah I'm really struggling. I'll watch it as the boy likes it (even though he also thought EP3 was utter garbage) but I've completely tuned out. This should have just stayed as two seasons. End of s2 was fairly definitive. It just seems silly that the wee chap is now a foundling instead of a youngling (it pains me to type both of these words as I think they are fucking stupid) and he's got to get his little Beskar set and all that shite. It's just crap now. There are still moments mind you. The TIE chase at the start of EP3 was great.

I thought this episode was pretty good, even if the pirates could have used even any character development.
I read a theory which makes total sense, and, if they go that way, makes the whole season make more sense. I don’t to mention anything about it in case it’s true because spoiler.

That was another pretty fun one. It felt a bit like someone had condensed a movie plot into 40 minutes. The main action sequence was a bit like watching a stream of a team death match which felt like a return to the adventure of the week days.
Does anyone else get a bit of a Worf vibe from the Mando heavy?

It wasn’t a bad episode, although I was hoping they would just kerb stomp everyone rather than bumble around, get caught out in the open like an amateur paintball team and wait to fire their rockets until AFTER the guy with the big cannon got throw out of a window.

It was definitely one of the better episodes this season but the Mandalorians really don’t seem very good fighters, just the others are really shit.
Nice to see Mr Kim again.

There was a lot of action, but how many times have they done the 'save the village' trope? In terms of plot we get maybe three scenes that move the story forward?

It is quite funny that the most consistent part of this season has been how lame the Mandalorians are at fighting

Well, I might have sussed out who is writing the latest stuff. Just asked chatGPT to 'write a short treatment for a new episode of the mandalorian':
Title: The Hunt for the Imperial Saboteur
Synopsis: In the aftermath of the Galactic Civil War, the Mandalorian is on a mission to track down an Imperial saboteur who has been causing trouble across the galaxy. After receiving a tip from a former Rebel Alliance informant, the Mandalorian sets his sights on a remote planet where the saboteur is believed to be hiding.
Upon arriving on the planet, the Mandalorian encounters a group of local villagers who are being terrorized by a gang of raiders. Despite his initial reluctance to get involved, the Mandalorian decides to help the villagers fend off the raiders in exchange for information on the saboteur's whereabouts.
As the Mandalorian and the villagers prepare for the upcoming battle, they discover that the saboteur is actually a former Imperial officer who has gone rogue and is working with the raiders to carry out a nefarious plan.
In a thrilling showdown, the Mandalorian and the villagers face off against the raiders and the saboteur, with the fate of the planet hanging in the balance. In the end, the Mandalorian emerges victorious, capturing the saboteur and ensuring that justice is served.
However, as he sets off into the galaxy once again, the Mandalorian can't shake the feeling that there are more threats lurking in the shadows, and he must remain vigilant in his quest to protect the innocent and uphold justice in the galaxy.
Must have forgotten the monster of the week, though...
