You bastard. I made the boba fett, obi wanky nobby and Andor threads and totally thought I had the same for Mando on here. Must have been EG.
Touche.
The trailer looks good. I am happy for the fan service/call back stuff in this when we have Andor pushing the new stuff.
Roll on Mando March 1st

The shot of a bunch of Jedi - what is surely a flashback to the Temple and Order 66 - along with Dr Whatshisface who The Client was working for, it seems pretty likely we are going to get some attention on BY’s origins.

I love the heavy weapons Mandalorian. That is all.

Do I have to watch Boba Fett for this? I'd avoided that as I'd heard it was shit, but I also heard Mando featured in it quite heavily.

Just skip right ahead to the first episode featuring Mando (maybe it’s episode 5 or 6?) and watch from there. The stuff with Fett is all completely stupid but you will get up to speed with where Mando and Grogu are at just by watching those 2-3 episodes.

Grr.. you mean i need to watch the rest of Fett to prepare for Mando season 3?? Is the stuff that happens in Fett actually important for the Mando storyline? Why would they do that...

Afraid so, but the good news is episode 5 is just an episode of Mandalorian start to finish, nothing to do with Boba Fett, and 6 and 7 are elevated by his participation. You can totally watch episode 5 without watching any of the boba show prior to that.

I already watched Boba Fett episodes 1-4... and then gave up at that point because it was rubbish. Sigh. Why would they stick an episode of one show in the middle of a different show?? Gits.

I think even skipping, you will still have to witness the worst of the space lambretta crew shitness.
which is worth it for the 'wtf were they thinking?' thoughts you will have.
Or does that happen before mando comes to help? Either way, space scooters can get fucked.

Flash Gordon OK, Boba fett's ones, no dice.
I'm sticking to it. It had the shittest, most laughable 'chase' scene ever. They were shit.

Ironically, episode 5 is the perfect cold shower of relief after that fetid shit-swim, as it features the Mandalorian exclusively. You basically stopped watching at the worst possible time.

IT RETURNS Ed: Steady, but typical reintroduction. Why have your ceremony there if that's possible ?! Beginning to think Mandos are the universe equivalent of thrill-seeking surfer/skydiving dudebros, could see them in Point Break A cheesy cringe one-liner. And some too-on-the-nose pirate pirates . Glad it's back, but there's this creeping feeling that Andor has spoiled me, and this'll swing too far to BOBF shennanigans.

Rewatched 1 and 2 over the last few weeks in preparation, as my partner hadn't seen it. Just got the BOBF episodes to go.
Was as fun the second time round though couldn't help comparing it at times to Andor. Unfair to do it, as they are totally different shows, with Mando being more like Saturday afternoon telly of old, but it's noticeable how little time was given to talking about the Empire/Republic and peoples attitude to them. I'm in two minds if there should have been more of it though as I do really like the format (just a shame BOBF was such a let down in comparison) and if it wasn't for Andor being so good I probably wouldn't have noticed.
But it's great to have it back, and have a new show to look forward to each week.

Well, now that we had Space Charles Vane and Space Captain LeChuck in the course of one episode, I can only assume the rest of this season will introduce Space Rackham, Space Blackbeard and a disembodied talking droid head called MU-RR4Y. Also, that little sighting of the Purgills in hyperspace definitely wasn't a foreshadowing of what the Ahsoka show will focus on.

While I quite enjoyed it, not as much as this week's The Bad Batch (which continues to be closer in tone to Andor than The Mandalorian) it's still suffering from a lot of video gamey "do this quest to unlock this next quest" writing.
The second spoiler in Blue_Mike's post is exactly what I was thinking.

Obviously Andor was great but it was nice to see the Star Wars universe being full of puppets, wacky aliens and fun action sequences again

Spent half the episode wondering what the fuck was going on. Having not watched BOBF I had no idea about the mando episode in that.
So was more than a little jarring to the point I wondered if it was a flash back.
Now I am up to speed. Just feels like the story has grinded to a complete and utter hault. See how it goes but wasn't impressed.

The last two episodes of Fett are really the start of Mando season 3, I was surprised there was no recap.

I've had a look, and I've got Eps5+6 kept from BOBF. Those are the two Mando-specific ones, that would fill in the blanks, but I suppose you could watch the silly finale too.

Oh, I couldn’t think of what it reminded me of, of course. Swamp Thing fucked LeChuck. From the opening, did anyone else think it was a dlashback to Pedro’s helmination with the bangbang surprise of his arrival with Grogu designed as a deliberate fake-out? I liked it, either way. Stupid place for your foreverhat ceremony though.

Kid and I finally got chance to watch. Great to have it back. Looked sumptuous as well; obviously fx budget is ‘what you want?’ levels now. And that music. Very comfy with that music playing.
Mando is high quality pew pew SW. Andor showed us the potential of other kinds of SW. what they both have in common is their high quality. Just make good quality shows. And that starts with the writing. The opening had me worried a bit as it was FUCKING STUPID for the sake of pew pew and tada entrance. You’ve got fucking jet packs. It’s a water creature. How’s about, you know, not staying standing by the water?
Anyway, quickly got it together - happy to write that off as a back handed cheerio to BoB - and went back to doing what it does best: Star Wars Littlest Hobo

Enjoyed the new episode, but I'm always left with so many questions.
As children, why are Mandalorians given child-sized helmets that they can never remove? Do the helmets magically grow as the wearer becomes an adult, or do wearers become horrifically deformed over time?
Why was Carl Weathers so against drinking alcohol at the school, but was fine shooting 4 people dead at the school? Whilst Weathers had his back to camera, there was clearly a line retroactively dubbed in, along the lines of "the city droids will clean that up" or something. The writers clearly overlooked the entire thing.
And don't even get me started on the Loch Ness monster fight. Do they always conduct that ceremony next to the lake? Do they know there's a monster living in the lake? Have they ever had the monster problem before? Did they take any precautions? Why didn't they just back away from the lake and assault it from a distance, or drop bombs from the air? That said, it was still a great spectacle. I just wish it made some sense.
For all the time and money that's clearly been spent on the series, it's bizarre that it's undermined by little basic logistical errors. It reeks of writing by committee.

“Do they always conduct that ceremony next to the lake?”
I am guessing not. They relocated after exposing their group helping Mando in series 1. They’ve established water plays a part in their culture, with the penance Mando is attempting. I think that they were just caught out.

Watched it last night and really enjoyed it. It did jump about a bit, but the locations and characters were great and I'm glad to see it more on par with the quality of S1&2 of Mando than BOBF.
