Had a flu jab yesterday and I feel like I've been run over. I have managed to make it to the office and I think that qualifies as being a brave little soldier.

Still have a sore throat, it keeps going away then remerging. Had an earache too, pain when swallowing.
That's also gone for now but think it might reappear soon. It's such a tease.

I wish I'd had a jab. Day 4 of influenza and I don't think I've ever been this ill or felt this rough. Still shivering like an absolute twat but my temperature is just over 101. Lemsip and painkillers (separately, plenty apart) are just about taking the edge off but it's a struggle to even get up to go piss. I'm not brave. Still.

I've also had on-off extremely mild cold symptoms for about a fortnight. Very weird to be so sustained. But then last night the dial went way up and in the middle of the night I woke up shivering. Never experienced flu shivers in my life before. Very odd sensation. Best I can't describe it is that I felt warm under the duvet but internally I felt cold. Like my bones were cold or something. Such great timing

Feels like it’s been a week or so for me, and the worst thing is the constant sore throat, but the head and temperature stuff are starting to nag… Good luck to us all…

Sounds like what I've got. As Dougs said, it's definitely going around.
Try to stay warm, get lots of fluids and rest. Hope you both feel better soon.

Accidentally left a pan on a very low flame and just grabbed it.
My fingertips are nicely blistered now, which will make an evening of gaming much less enjoyable.

I swear I used to acquire injuries in manly ways, like falling off motorbikes or getting my head kicked in by skinhead shits
A frightening foreshadowing of life as a little old man, last night I injured myself opening a squeezy mayonnaise bottle
But, like a man, I gritted my teeth through the pain, put on a Peppa pig plaster, and soldiered on. Bravely.

2023 tally thus far:
- COVID (cold-like symptoms = unpleasant; inability to taste coffee = fucking awful); - sinus infection (probably brought on, or at least exacerbated, by COVID); - penicillin allergy (that frankly left me feeling worse than the sinus infection).
I'm torn between writing this off as a bad month/year/life, and being a brave little soldier.

I think that when I gouged my thumb back in December I may have done some serious nerve or tendon damage. I tried to plug a toothbrush charger in last week and my thumb just gave way with a sharp pain, I've had a constant throbbing and am now unable to bend my thumb at all. Waiting to see someone, currently have a support strap to try and mitigate the pain. Not happy.

I stubbed my toe and now the toenail has fallen off. Toes look weird without their little keratin hats.

I know just how you feel and looking at the thread we are not alone. The little one wasn't well the week before last, probably picked it up from Nursery then the wife gets the cold/flu. It finally got me on Thursday last week with just a sore throat before the shivers kicked in at night. It absolutely floored me and couldn't work I've never had the flu and a week on I'm still suffering with a dry cough and snotty filled nose. Also caught conjunctivitis from the little one that seems to have cleared up but that's been replaced by a pain in my heel (plantar fasciitis) which is great when I'm due back at work that involves a lot of standing and walking about.

Ah, good old plantars. I get that too. Decent shoes, stretch out the calf.
My man cold has abated today, disappointingly.

Waiting to see someone, currently have a support strap to try and mitigate the pain. Not happy. Surgery tomorrow, tendon had indeed snapped and has retracted back to my wrist. So going to be in plaster for a week, and then a custom splint. Turns out losing the ability to bend your thumb for a few weeks causes your knuckle to seize up, coupled with the issue of the non-functioning thumb itself means I'm going to have physio for months. Fuck me, I'm never washing a wine glass again.
