Now the real question is who are those deviants that use the outie stapler setting. The same maniacs staple in the middle of an edge instead of the top left corner

Who needs to clip paper in this day and age, just send a pdf I was going through a pdf earlier today that really needed an index, but there wasn't one. No hyperlinked contents either. Give me paper in that scenario

Nothing better than having a document printed out imo.
Now with stapling (non-outie of course) there are several options: all top left natch but parallel with the top edge (horizontal), the left side edge (vertical) or diagonal (deviant)
I like those metal clips you get too that need a plastic device to attach. Lends an air of class to things.

I used to do tribunals against the DWP.
They send the appellants approximately 200 loose pages of pea-soup coloured paper.
The only solution to this was a combo of hole punch/treasury tags.
Get it right and the hold is like no other. Punch your hole too close to an edge though and you are a participant in a nightmare.

There's an inside and an outside to staplers? Have I inadvertently been doing it wrong my entire life?

The 'strike plate' or the metal bit on the base of the stapler will usually be on a spring - you can push it up from below and rotate it 180 degrees to change the staple splay. Standard factory issue in 'innie' and deviant sex pest/lamp shade made from human skin setting is to send the ends out the way.

Preach brother, if I ever meet someone who intentionally outies their staples I will call the police.

I never figured out how to do the ‘magazine’ type where it is stapled through the actual centre forming a spine. I presume it requires specialist equipment or esoteric knowledge and power.

Or you can use two normal ones, open the hinges of both and line up the top and bottom

There’s also the point of failure (which can be affected by the density of paper) whereby you are emasculated in your attempts to staple a bundle of paper an inch thick, and you end up either with distorted staples flying everywhere or with one stabby prong end protruding on the underside - which always manages to scratch you.
Bring on the paperless office I say.

Why is top left diagonal deviant? Makes it easier to fold the pages to the back while your reading.

Say what you like about paper clips but they are a decent back up to those SIM release tools that you always lose due to infrequent use. Or they would be if you hadn't also lost the paperclips due to infrequent use.

I've got one of those catch-fire ideal boilers. Second one I've had the first one corroded.
It's fine

Why is top left diagonal deviant? Makes it easier to fold the pages to the back while your reading. Exactly. Parallel staples are a sign of someone that doesn't intend to actually read or use what they're stapling.

Treasury tags obviously. I remember posting on EG once that treasury tags are to the European Commission what snout is to HMP Brixton. They are not widely used or available here which means that the ones I smuggle in from the UK are a currency worth shivving someone for.
