It's *obviously* the 4th game in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series

Molyneux has apparently already raked in 40 million through nft's, and the games not out yet.

I The BAYC images are a 631px jpg, you don't even get an SVG, it's a shitty low res jpg. That's going to look great as a texture in the "metaverse" once we have higher res displays. Tut tut, the Web3 will unleash the creativity of dApps, which will upscale using on chain compute for gas. Every increase will link back to original seller who will take a cut via smart contracts. The Oracles will keep track of it. Don't worry. It's a vision anyway. lol New economy, why do you love Jeff Bezos?

Iβm just confused. I thought Stalker 2 was an offline single player game. Tut tut, trustless transaction via distributed dApps will allow for non fungible ownership of virtual parcels! Fully on chain items will be tokenized and the smart contracts will provide provenance with 1:1 physical overlap thresholds. Everyone will be a winner GM! No evil corporation will take your Bergen away from you. Why do you love Tim Cook?

The current fun one is everyone leaving Kickstarter in droves after theyβve absolutely failed on every level to explain why they need to use blockchain for their platform, other than vague links to the owners of the blockchain they were going to use.

In the case of the Stalker 2 proposed NFT, it really was a stupid idea. Like even more stupid than most NFTs.
So, in a nutshell, the token would let you scan your face into the game (involving a trip to the Devs office for the scanning) and become an NPC. But this would only happen to one person.
Anybody buying the token later would not have the NPC updated. They'd "own" (lol) the NPC but it wouldn't look like them.
I still think NFTs are hugely redundant in their current usage. Yeah, you might make money off them, but I still haven't heard a single argument for them that proves they're doing anything but already covered by previously existing measures.
But selling a token for a one-use item is especially daft. Massive waste of resources for absolutely no reason except to appeal to buzzwordy cryptobros.
(Incidentally the fact that leading over-promiser / bullshit artist Peter Molyneux is jumping on the bandwagon kind of shows how full of shit the entire market is)
Additionally, the entire concept of NFTs is that they prove ownership in a decentralised manner. But ultimately, because the data on NFT is limited, they can only point to urls where the item is held. That is not decentralised. There's nothing to stop all those stupid fucking apes or crypto punks being replaced by dickbutt if the owner of the server felt like it.

They all think they're going to be rich by playing games. Someone even used the idea of selling loot to people, until someone brought up the real money auction house in D3 and how it was an absolute failure and ruined the game. Th other person had never heard of it. Says it all.

Wonder if our own NFT millionaire @h-alphaFox has weighed in yet.
In fairness I'd probably be singing the praises of NFTs if I'd bothered with them ages ago. I've missed the boat for easy free money, so they're obviously just a load of shit now. I can see the practical applications and they could definitely be useful, but they're fucking pointless in their current guise.

I don't really begrudge anyone who jumped onto the bandwagon early who is going to make money from them.
But in their current iteration NFTs really are useless beyond the pyramid-esque investment angle.
That Molyneux game sounds dire. Sounds like it is just trying to replicate late stage capitalism and land ownership in a virtual environment, because I really want to spend my hobby time putting up with the same shit I do in real life.

MS have said that getting rid of Lionhead was a bad decision but I'm not so sure about that. Putting as much distance between yourself and Molyneux as possible seems like a pretty good idea to me.

There's nothing to stop all those stupid fucking apes or crypto punks being replaced by dickbutt if the owner of the server felt like it. Not to defend them, but not all work like that. From what I have read (and my understanding might be slightly off) sometimes it's not a link as such, but a hash of the file. The file is then stored on IPFS and as long as someone is hosting it, then the file can be retrieved and ownership attributed. So as long as the owner keeps a real copy/backup, it can always be uploaded. But yes, something like a BAYC supposedly has value in the access it grants you to the exclusive club (though you could have far more unique experiences for that sort of money). When the club owners get bored / make enough money, there is nothing stopping them just winding it all down, and that's when you are left with your shitty jpg. Others are linked directly to platforms for their display/interaction and again, most digital platforms eventually get switched off.

In terms of the loss of talent yes it was a bad shortsighted decision from those awful Mattrick years but yes getting rid of Molyneux was beneficial.

That is the issue, there's no inherent protection for your purchase just the holding site where the hash is stored and the proprietor can just turn that off if and when they get bored. The fact that companies like Ubisoft are giving you straight up the inherent risks in clear English should make people run for the hills but in the weird hustle culture we live in everyone is a 21st century Del Boy trying to be a millionaire by this time next year.

The current fun one is everyone leaving Kickstarter in droves after theyβve absolutely failed on every level to explain why they need to use blockchain for their platform, other than vague links to the owners of the blockchain they were going to use. Gamefound got their Christmas present early this year. Reading through the heavily curated, and unsurprisingly boring, FAQ that Kickstarter released in response to some valid questions I get the distinct feeling that Kickstarter either: Doesn't understand blockchain tech Don't mind lying people in the face www.kickstarter.com/articles/lets-build-whats-next-for-crowdfunding-creative-projectsAmong other nuggets of "What the actual fuck are you talking about" I find this: "We currently use cloud-based data servers. The new crowdfunding protocol will be built on Celo. When we start using Celo, we can begin to decrease our utilization of cloud computing services, which is currently one of the most significant contributors to our carbon footprint." What do they think will happen to their servers? They still need the same amount of compute PLUS all the shit that goes on top of it to distribute the compute, and keep track of who does what, and who gets the tokens, and how much etc. It's not just the blockchain I doubt they understand, it's the web in general. What do they think a cloud service is? Also, saying PoS is better than PoW is both setting a low bar AND kinda pointless unless you say what stake is being used. Crypto is so dumb.

Wonder if our own NFT millionaire @h-alphaFox has weighed in yet. In fairness I'd probably be singing the praises of NFTs if I'd bothered with them ages ago. I've missed the boat for easy free money, so they're obviously just a load of shit now. I can see the practical applications and they could definitely be useful, but they're fucking pointless in their current guise. lol, I don't really know anything about this game aside what has been posted here. A lot of these games require a buy in and are ETH based tokens so that cuts my interest in them down to zero. Same with most of the NFT market because fuck gas(but I like mining the fee). My approach to crypto and nfts is to see what I can make out of it without spending any actual fiat which for the most part I have done. The only game I play is Blankos, it's f2p and p2e. You grind the daily challenges and will eventually earn nft characters and accessories. I started with the idea of pure speculation but the game is fun and the lad quite likes it too which is good because he chews up the challenges pretty quick. So who knows where it'll lead, it's still early access so once the game is fully launched there should be good potential for flipping, I mean there already is but if it moons I'm in early and no time for being sentimental. I would thoroughly recommend this game for anyone whose not cynical and curious enough to get in on it, it's still early. As for NFTs in the wild, I maybe made 90 dollars worth of sales on Opensea dicking around, got one airdrop that was good but for now I've moved mostly to the Tezos platforms which is like playing with pennies compare to the ETH ones. But it is a clean blockchain and rapidly growing. Basically in the last month and a half I have made about 40 tez selling off my flickr pics. If you actually have talent and can draw or animate then anyone can do it. It's nice pocket money at least but for me not a great lot unless for some reason people start paying more. I mean you could post your pics and art on insta for like I guess. lol That's where the Tez community differs from all the ape and punk nonsense. It's mostly artists doing art and not making a lot out of it although some do. Basically it's nice getting a few tez here and there for pics that I would still be taking for myself and just filling up an HD. I've been published in books, magazine, websites in the past all for no fee at all so this is a pleasant change.
