So how come AAA batteries aren't as good as AA ones? They're much better if you're trying to power a device that takes AAA batteries.

Eh, what? I have at least two dozen FPS' on my steamlist that look fairly promising. I guess it depends on what you mean by "good", but off the top of my head there are Selaco, Blood West, Witchfire, Trepang 2, Atomic Heart, Brutal Fate etc. Half of them have no proper release date, most of them look 5-10 years old and I’ve never heard of any of the studios or anything they’ve made. Maybe they’ll be great but that’s a big maybe. You also didn’t mention any that have actually been released. The FPS genre has been fairly dull since Call of Duty became the dominant game in the market, particularly single player. There has been the odd exceptions (Titanfall 2 and the DOOM games, off the top of my head), but it has mostly been dry. The indie scene has been getting more interesting, mainly because it is looking back to the pre-Call of Duty days (really enjoyed Project Warlock recently, which I believe has a sequel coming). Even with those you are probably only going to get enjoyment if you want that retro feeling though.

Bought my Nan some electric salt and pepper grinders the other week because shes having trouble with the grinding action of her current ones.
8 AAs! 4 AA batteries in each one! I was absolutely outraged.

What the fuck does AAA mean anyway. Shouldn't we be at 4 or more A's by now. It’s a banking term for credit-worthiness, AAA being the highest Ahh

Missed this whole thread, but I assumed we've covered indie games being anything but dead? They're bigger, broader and healthier than they've ever been. Stardew Valley sold 5 million copies last year alone.

The games market is fine from my perspective, but then I'm perfectly content with the endless Ubi/Bethesda/whoever sequels to Assassins Creed/Elder Scrolls/Fallout/whatever.

I'd be happy to be a mod but first I need to know if I can read people's private messages

Anyone who wants to be a mod should not be a mod, it should be a burden.

My member can only send two messages: "I like you", "I don't like you". The former is increasingly rare.

My only point there is subscription based gaming will take a hit, game passes and all that. A good example being Warcraft subscriptions, player growth stalled completely in 2008 despite a massive amount of marketing (remember the ones on TV with the mini me guy and so on) as well as a big expansion being released. Overall though, game sales in general tend to rise. kotaku.com/world-of-warcraft-no-growth-since-2008-453110340Yeah that's one datapoint of a game that was 4-5 years old at that point. If you look at the graph here 2008 didn't dent the growth of the industry at all: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_industry#EconomicsWeirdly neither did the 90s one which is generally 90-91 (USA) 90-93 (UK) and varying levels in between. But it did drop in 94-95 until PlayStation took over. Fag end of the 16 bit generation I presume. Don't downplay WoW, that game is still a juggernaut and at this time has 119 million subscribers. I've never played it, but looking at the figures, it's mind boggling that it saw no growth during that period.
