A fair way into "Lost" chapter and still loving the game. Only technical issue I am having is a lot of the in-voice chat is breaking up or sounds "robotic" ? I just left it at the start of that chapter. Not noticed anything with the chat yet but will let you know if I do. Think my saves are reading about 4 and a half hours so far. Still can’t fault it.

I think I'm out there is a section where you have to survive wave after wave of enemies on a moving platform and I can't do it, been trying for over an hour and no closer to ?!?! than when I started. Dropped skill and watched YT but still can't do it. When it stops being fun stop, so that looks like it. Edit. Uninstalled and just watched the ending. Oh well, I was about 80% in and would rate what I played 8/10 until the bit the fucked me off, so including that 5/10. I firmly believe if I have the option to drop down to "easy" and I still can't beat a section, something is wrong with the game mechanics, I accept I'm probably (I am) shite but even so, come on. I have beaten Gears UE legit on insane, and that is far from easy.

Hi Mate, well I did until the spoiler section and then that was me, a bit like the final fight in the first Plague Tale. I just can't be bothered anymore, I'm sure I could beat (although am I?) but I have too many games that want my attention to bet pissed off*. I did enjoy it but the story wasn't that gripping, hopefully you are having fun and will have fun all the way through. Fingers crossed the remake of DS will be better.
*side note, it would have been my dad's 74th Birthday, so maybe I'm not in the right mind ?

"Those" days are never great days Duff. Do something that will make you smile today rather than getting stressed at something that annoys you.

Yeah maybe duff. It could be you also just got a bit fatigued with it.
I agree however. As soon as gaming (or a specific game) stops eliciting joy, it goes off. It’s meant to be a pleasurable pastime. Don’t do that to yourself.
Agree with frog. Those days are never good and will always be more emotional. Hope you’re alright man.

Just watched "Skill up" yt vid and he is so spot on about the frustration with combat and the slow speed you swap guns or (try to) heal, it is as though he was watching me play!

It’s a good thing it came out before ReDead Space, as regardless of how good or not it is, everything just reminds me how good Dead Space was. There’s a lot of cliche in this, which was cliche in Dead Space, so you know you are struggling when you are extraordinarily derivative of a 2007 game that was highly derivative of System Shock 1 & 2. (Really not a spoiler but whatever) the spooky graffiti from the System Shock games, then Dead Space, here just has me thinking, who is it taking time to write stuff in blood. Is it their blood? In these past games, days or weeks have passed since the apocalypse happened and you’d assume mad survivors did it. Here, the outbreak is happening right as you arrive, very suddenly. The graffiti was probably always naff, but it’s genuinely a terrible cliche at this point and I’m just finding it lame. Writing and design complaints aside, I’m still enjoying walking down a corridor stomping bastards.

I must say I am perplexed why they went from the quick health use of Dead Space to a process that's painfully long.

My main interface bugbear is that you can’t play the logs while you walk. We had the technology to do this in the fucking 1990’s.

The lighting, sound design and atmosphere are on another level compared with what I've played recently and it's nice to play a simple gear upgrade path for once.
However, general sluggishness of certain systems especially the health injectors can be pretty infuriating and less said about the auto-save the better.

Don’t care. I’m stomping screaming things in the dark under the gaze of Jupiter. Still can’t find anything that irks me personally but I would quite like a resident evil style quick turn. Before I went to bed I took some time to throw a lot of said screaming things into large spinning fans and what looked like meat grinders. If you don’t like the sight and sound of flesh being ripped apart then you’re quite frankly dead inside.

Pretty much my take - but I'm only a very short way into it. You've got to laugh at the idea of down on the d-pad for "quick" heal. It is, though, absolutely gorgeous on the PS5. I had no idea it was going to look so sumptuous (maybe not the best word given the locales). It oozes atmosphere and I'm really enjoying it so far. Got to master the effin' dodge though!

Indeed it’s stunning looking which, I’ll admit, helps immeasurably with getting sucked in to it.

I picked this up last night while I could still grab the Day One edition (£55 - they're removing it from the stores now so only the £74 edition will remain). Played a couple of hours, up to chapter 4, before bed and, so far, it's fine. I don't think it's great but the sci-fi atmosphere and visuals are cool. I don't think there's much horror present. Combat isn't good but it works - it's literally just 'dodge-dodge-bash-bash-bash' to win. It is literally a straight line from start to end. They make you feel like you're moving around the prison a bit, although there is no choice of where to go. I don't really mind this though I do think it could be better with some metroidvania-lite elements to just flesh out the location.
I've never played Dead Space so figured banging through this before playing the remake in Jan was the right order to do things.

Derbs, I would think you will love DS, assuming the new one is represented of the old and if not play the old one, still looks and plays great.

Not sure how far I am now. Must be on chapter 5. I think. Don't think I've really done much melee for the last 3 or 4 hours. Just no need for it when I can intermittently throw fools about the place or blast them in the face with a shotgun. Quite confident I can clear a room in a few minutes now. Had a sphincter tightening spell when I had no healing, no ammo and almost no health but got through that and I'm now swimming in everything.
Almost impossible to differentiate this from Dead Space now. It feels and plays exactly the same. Again, that's a plus for me, not a negative.

It was already gone from the PS5 store last night. It was still present on the web browser though.

Stop trying to justify your purchase. You are not enjoying it. You're right. One of the reasons I'm finding it so scary is the lack of visibility caused by me playing it through my tears of regret.

Ta, I had a quick look and you can still select the standard £55 edition on the UK PSN. Will probably pick it up and wait for a patch.

I might text Glen later and say that as I'm one of the few that love his game, would he let me star in the sequel. I don't even have to be the protagonist. I'm more than happy to shamble about in the background with my insides on the outside.

harrypalmer It's awesome. Basically you need to ignore nearly everyone else on the planet and instead listen to this one sole guy who's ranting about how good it is. What can go wrong?
