Anyone still playing this?
Used to play it on PS4 all the time and then dropped off. Picked it up again on Gamepass a few days ago and haven't been able to stop playing since; it's as good as I remember. There's nothing like ejecting from a Titan and then taking someone elses Titan out mid-air with a charge beam shot on the way down.
The only downside I'm finding is that it's tough to get a game of anything barring Attrition - I miss playing Bounty Hunt and CTF. Never tried Frontier Defense, think I should give it a go. I've also gone with the 'Evolved' control setup this time; seems to be a little more natural than Bumper Jumper.
Don't suppose there's an existing group with a few hold-outs still playing this?

My boy got me to have a go with him a few weeks back. I'd only ever played a bit of TF1. Got to say I fucking loved it. Keep meaning to go back to it, so I could be tempted.
Trouble is my evenings are fucked these days for playing stuff.

I haven't played for a couple months, but I don't think I found anything but attrition for many years.
It is great, but I still think TF1 has a bit more magic too it. No idea if you can still get games for that, but I think I got a couple matches during lockdowns.

I've never played TF1 but I hear this now and again - what are the main differences?

TF2's single player is flipping magnificent. Such an imaginative set of levels that finishes when are you still wanting more rather than fed up with it.
I originally played it on PS4 and I'm terrible at FPS games on a controller, so didn't get too much into multiplayer. I did re-buy on PC, but again I just played the single payer and only dipped a little into multiplayer. If there are people still playing, I should probably try to get into it again.

I thought I was going to get schooled (I'm not the greatest player) but I was surprised; there's as many 'noobs' still playing it as there are pro's (and a good mix in-between).
The movement is just something else - I used to be a big Tribes fan and Titanfall is the only game that's come close to replicating that thrill.

Is it working again? For a while the servers were always getting attacked and were down, so I got out of the habit after getting back into it for some fun & hijinks during lockdown. I then moved back to TF1, then that started happening there too.

A few times it's kicked me out of the multiplayer lobby randomly but I'm able to get a game most of the time fairly quickly.
Had a bit of trouble when trying to join the same game with a friend but again, managed it eventually.

Yeah me and the boy kept getting kicked a few weeks ago. That's maybe why we never went back to it.

Have you tried Northstar? northstar.tf/ Meant to be more multiplayer games when using it Got TF2 on steamdeck and planning on setting up Northstar when I’ve got the time (not that I expect to be any good at MP on a handheld, but I do miss the mp of TF, was really fun)

I bought this on ps5 not so long ago (forgot it was on gamepass) as I never played it first time round and only ever hear glowing reviews. I'd be interested in playing in the not too distant future if I can get into it.

TF2 is one of my favourite mp games ever. Loved my grapple hook, alternator, Ronin character. Was all about bounty hunt for me but attraction is solid fun.
Not sure I'll ever play it again though. There's not enough time in the day to play my current installed games let alone install this little magic piece of crack.

The singelplayer was amazing. Though I wasn't a fan of the first level or two, which seemed to be mainly boring combat with boring machine guns against boring CoD style grunts. Then it suddenly got amazing.
Never played the MP, though ApeLegs has a lot of the same DNA and (boring) weapons. Some of the same movement too, but without the ability to wall run around someone and then drop down behind them with a shotgun blast to the back of the head. Not that I could pull that off in MP anyway...

Quick question: is Titanfall 2's campaign *actually* great, or is it more a case of it *seeming* great alongside the tacked-on, half-assed campaigns that so often accompany AAA FPS games? (I'll take Vandelay's and Bill's posts as votes for the former!)
I'm just wondering whether it's worth picking up for someone of the single-player-only persuasion, as I'd never touch the multiplayer element. Apparently it's really short? Then again, it's also really cheap nowadays, so that's less of an issue than it would've been at release.

Ulythium To be honest, I've been wondering about this myself, seeing the praise TF2 single campaign has been getting all the time; I've even tried it at some point but got side-tracked. Please let us know how it goes for you

Coincidentally, I actually did install the Steam version last night as it was on sale last week. But even on a PC, having to install the EA app after installing it through Steam was obnoxious. Was hoping it’d give me an Origin key and I’d be able to just activate it through there, bypassing the dual launcher issue on Steam, but it didn’t even let me use Origin at all. It uninstalled it and replaced it with the EA app. Similar thing when I reinstalled Max Payne 3. Forced a Rockstar launcher install. Gaming on PC is still a shitshow.
But yeah, installing the PS4 version to replay it there instead.
Oh and for those on the fence, watch the IGN review. It’s about 6 minutes long and doesn’t really go into story spoilers, but does show a fair amount of the platforming, mech combat and a few cutscenes, so it gives a decent idea while still letting you experience it with fresh eyes.
Even if you don’t get on with the narrative (you monster), you should have fun with the moment to moment gameplay and level design.

TF2 campaign is brilliant, easily in my top 5 fps campaigns.

That EA App has borked the Mass Effect LE achievements as well. I had to roll back to Origin and now have to keep telling it to sod off every time I launch the game. Good stuff.
I've had Titanfall 2 on my backlog for so long its got mold on it. I give it a guilty look every now and again.

How are you doing with that now? Taking to it more? I haven't started it yet. I will though. I want to do it before Redfall comes out so I'm up to date with Arkane's stuff. And then Titanfall 2

Weird, I installed it at the weekend also. I think this thread is outing people who still look at EG...
I only played the first couple of hours when it came out (seem to remember it clashed with RDR2).

Yep, campaign is brilliant. Was nice to have a great pretty linear FPS single player experience again, one particular part of the game is amazing.
