Weekend working can be good, just need to look at things a bit differently otherwise it'll get to you. Over 15 years of working weekends so I guess I'm well adjusted to it.
For me it's no traffic, I despise it and then on the days I'm off midweek the little one is in nursery and wife's at work. Get to places that are then not overcrowded and shopping mid week just means getting past the odd OAP with a shopping trolley.
Down side is, if you have friends or family that are off at weekends you are then stuck at work.

Shifts for project manager work sounds odd though. I'm not doing project management - I'm now on a service desk as I wanted something a bit more low key [br Ah, yes, that makes more sense. For some reason I thought you’d gone back to being a PM.

Plus there was something satisfying about sleeping in on a Monday while everyone else is running around. Hope it works out for the best Quaddy.

Yeah it's pros and cons. I don't have kids and my friends all have weekends off so I'm in the latter camp where it mainly sucks.
The only good points are being able to shop in relative peace and reduced traffic when working weekends. But I hate commutes of any sort as it's just a waste of life, so they're not huge benefits for me.
I'd much rather have weekends off and be able to socialise properly.

Bit of an infuriating one this. Have an interview today over teams in about 40 minutes time or so I think. Didn't receive a Teams link, I had to ask for one this morning from the admin who offered me an interview, received it and an hour later the interviewer emails me apologise to say the interview is supposed to be for 2pm which I know it is, and would I like to arrange another interview. I'm very confused by this email as nothing has changed on my end and I believe they're confused. I emailed them at 11.30 and crickets. No response or anything, called their number and rings out, leave a message and again no response. This is supposed to be a big company and thr organisation and communication is piss poor. So I'm just sitting here waiting to see what happens at 2pm.

Could it be some confusion over time zones or something? Hope it all gets sorted out in time

You need to learn to combine wanking and commuting to prevent life wastage. Wanking is never time wasted. I should be a life coach or something, I'm literally out here making lives better and not capitalising on it.

Could it be some confusion over time zones or something? Hope it all gets sorted out in time No it's for a job in England. They finally emailed me at 13.55 to tell me their HR bod is sick and I can't have an interview without them present. They're going to reschedule for another time which make things complicated as I have a different interview tomorrow for a good job but not my first choice and it makes things difficult as if I were to receive an offer I would have to stall them while I await a rescheduled interview for the job I actually want. Sigh.

If you combine it with wanking Jambo the walk will be both good for your health, sexually stimulating and a bit exciting.
See I'm doing it again.

I'm explicitly avoiding teaching jobs in schools in this country, as well, it's fucking awful. I get offered about 5 schools every other day, "good school ", "amazing school" "fantastic school ". So fantastic no ones filling the role. The job here is purely teaching adults as part of joint government scheme in connection with the DWP so combining two areas that I've worked in.

I just got rejected from a tech support role for a hardware manufacturer saying they had better suited candidates. I have over 20 years experience in support and hardware manufacturing including a national award for a server chassis design. Admittedly I have been out of the industry since covid but this was a low paid tech support role. Slightly shocked they didn't even want to speak to me but it seems my last 2 jobs outside of tech have basically fucked my chances of being involved in it.
Not massively fussed as it wasn't exactly a dream job but there we go.

Sorry to hear mate. It really does feel like a crapshoot at times about what employers actually want.

Better suited candidates tends to mean "people we can boss about" these days.

Expect a call in a month, along the lines of "Hiring the unqualified 17 year old nephew of the boss' wifes' friend didn't work out too well, are you still interested in applying for the position"

I'm guessing that most my roles being head of department don't help but my field is quite niche and there aren't many jobs in it outside of the large companies.
Just a bit confused as there was a tech test on a failing server diagnosis and I wrote a full report on the diagnosis process.
Ah well, their loss.

Ah well, their loss indeed

Will have a look to see if they have anything down here. Downside is our hospital is over the other side of the city and it's a right bastard to get to.

I'm losing interest in my job, doesn't help that I don't really believe in the strategy that dictates the details of what we need to deliver.
Don't even know where to start looking for work though, pretty much stumbled through life and career and never really made any significant decisions or pursued anything specific so no idea what I want to do, and whenever I look at job specs you can pretty much see the tumbleweed rolling through my empty head.

I've found that up here, they base me at an office block that's a few miles away from the actual hospital itself, so ymmv Depends what you're going for i guess. Worth a look though at least I reckon

Have you ever sat down and actually wrote down what things interest you workwise? What things you're good at, the qualities you have and tried to see what industries you could transfer those to? I mean I know we go through this conversation a lot with you but honestly nothing's going to happen unless you pull your finger out and do something otherwise you're just continuing the cycle of getting down about what you do, venting about it but not actually taking the action to do something about your situation and repeat.
