Have you looked into hiring a professional to help you with that kind of service?

I'm guessing that most my roles being head of department don't help but my field is quite niche and there aren't many jobs in it outside of the large companies. Just a bit confused as there was a tech test on a failing server diagnosis and I wrote a full report on the diagnosis process. Ah well, their loss. It's a numbers game unfortunately. If I posted a Service Desk role I'd expect get 200 applicants in couple of weeks. Had a Risk Analyst open for 4 weeks 372 applicants. A recruiter might have 15 - 30 roles open at anyone time so each CV gets a few seconds for a quick scan. In an ideal world candidates would get actual tailored feedback but 99% of the time it's a mass template regret email. A lot of the time really strong candidates apply but interviews are already underway and you still get the standard "unsuitable" template, when in reality it's a timing issue. It's frustrating when you don't get a job you know you could crush but often it's down to recruitment processes rather than you as a candidate. The applicant numbers on LinkedIn are not particularly accurate but do give an sense of the applicant volumes.

My boss got his new job. So far everyone, especially the current boss above him, is assuming I’m going to pick up all his management of the team. I already am the one they go to for most things as he’s never bothered with half of his job.
I’m refusing to do any of that in a passive ‘friendly’ way so far, but I’m not doing it without the reward (it should have been me in his job in the first place but wasn’t because of HR and management incompetence).
I’m too far into my career to do things on the promise that there’ll be a reward later. It never happens and just helps other people get rewarded.

Do not blame you in the slightest. If they want you to do the task then give the role and appropriate renumeration. None of this business of same role but with extra responsibilities.

Feeling extremely nervous about this interview I have in 30 minutes. I haven't felt this in well over a decade. I don't like it.

God that was tough. It's one of those interviews where I think was I just saying a whole load of bullshit and they're nodding. I hope I wasn't. I guess we'll see.

I'm not massively confident about it tbh and have accepted that I don't think it was the best interview even though I never had any uncomfortable pauses or them asking me to clarify something. I just felt somewhat nervous about it and like I talked far too much. They were nice people though.
