I don’t think someone should be sacked for that at all, conversations happen like that all the time verbally
It’s just blowing off steam so you don’t call the person a fucking cunt to their face
Where I used to work quite a few people got sacked for messages in a WhatsApp group that someone in the group complained about so nothing is really safe, it was a social group, not work related or anything

There’s definitely more to it. You can’t even monitor Teams messages like that passively, not without it being a massive ball ache for all concerned (purview comms compliance is pretty awful) or super expensive broker software. Most likely something else was going on and they were already under an ediscovery investigation.

When I worked at UPS someone in one of our drivers group chats used to leak stuff to management.
The management never gave a fuck about any of the staff so it made me question what they ever thought betraying the relationship with their peers would ever give them. They just ended up hated by all the rest of the drivers.

We switched from Google (which wasn't monitored or retained) to Teams (which isn't monitored but is retained). So if we need to vent, it's very much done on a call which isn't monitored in any way.

I have literally had an insight about this today, about what is possibly logged/monitored. Anything over emails/Teams can be pulled from logs if they get flagged for inappropriate behaviour (in our company at least). Usually a bit of a bitchin' session over a meal or outside for a "fresh air" break is usually your safest option.

Visit from The Cunts Upstairs tomorrow morning, so I've been part of the team that was drafted in tonight to make it look like the place is actually basically functional and staffed by people who give a shit, and not overrun by customers who wouldn't know civilised behaviour if it built an aqueduct through them.

Hang on, God is visiting your store? The way some people are stressing about the visit, you would think so.

The Civil Service of course has the extra fun of any recorded comms being FOI-able in theory, so you quickly learn the principle of not saying anything you wouldn't be comfortable seeing on the front page of the Daily Mail, a la the Covid Inquiry etc.

I’ve never put anything in writing on anything at work that I wouldn’t be fine with HR reading. It’s just a risk that isn’t worth it at all.

Tell me I’m not the only one who gets frustrated with messages like “can we connect to discuss X”? Just tell me what the fucking problem is and maybe it can be resolved in one line.
ETA: Gah, no I’m not going to review your PR via Teams. Give me a URL!

Last day at self storage today. And the regional manager is here. He's the one that was "bitterly disappointed in me" for leaving.
Well, I was "bitterly disappointed at being lied to in the interview Keith, but here we are eh"
Jog on, you twat.

Had an interview with a Canadian company last night, not sure tbh, the hours seem great but the owner was quite...blunt to say the least and it gave me a vibe I wasn't so enthralled with. I'm trying to decide between the need for a job and dealing with whatever may occur in the future with this company.

Boringly, Purview doesn’t support versioning so if you call someone a cunt and they complain, if you edit the message to say ‘you are cool’ that’s what they will get back from the logs. The metadata will give it the ‘this message has been edited’ flag but it won’t say from what.

It's also a complete bollock ache to try to decipher an actual chat thread, and you can't even do much from the UI. I'm legit surprised it's remained as awful as it is for how long it has. Last time I checked even the official MS documentation basically went "just do a graph api request directly with postman or something, I dunno" as its guidance.

Ediscovery premium will thread conversations for review and can dump them out as html files unlike the poverty version which treats individual messages as emails, more or less. It actually works pretty well but, obviously, useful functionality is gated behind a piss takingly expensive license.

Oh, nice. Is that more recent or another add-on? We have E5 and all the security gubbins but last time I did it was still dumped out to mail.

Last day of submissions on our restructure. Let's see if the cheating cunts who run our agency have a semblance of responsibility. My guess is not and I will lose my job because of it.

Fuck. Good luck Lizard. Have you been looking for other stuff just in case? Cheers mate. Not been looking as this process will apparently take months, October/November apparently. Final decision on the new structure in a couple of weeks. If it's the same reduction for my position, then I reapply. If I fail, they're obliged to find me another position somewhere in the organisation. If they can't do that, only then do I qualify for redundancy, which should be a decent sum TBH. Cuts to all government agencies mean the job market is fucked in Wellington anyway. We're pretty much last to cut, so if I do lose my job it'll be bleak.
