Is the typical look a white guy with permastubble/light to mid beard, glasses (usually thick rimmed), dark thinning hair/shaved head?

And my next one.

Ha, ha.. you just quoted an atrocious affinity bias showed during a panel interview my partner took for a major uk building society. 3 white guys, all thinning hair/shaved head and all with permastubble, one of the panel asked if she could show any wireframing and I quote... ' I want to see how down and dirty you’ll get', followed by them all sniggering... suffice to say she didn't get the job and wouldn’t have taken it even if it was offered.

That’s one of the reasons we have to have a ‘diverse’ panel for every interview we do. We are only allowed one generic white guy at a time.
We have two women on a team of nearly 40 so they do *a lot*.

Brilliant Bongo, at least you're making a start, it's the sort of measures that should be in place everywhere.
Yeah, it was a real bad interview experience, if it was for a crappy little agency she would have let it go but as it was a major UK based company that prided itself on fairness and equality she didn’t let it go and took them to tribunal, she settled out of court.
We now do alot of inclusion, belonging and DE&I work for a global food & beverage company, I say we but it's her really and I do the work she tells me to. Hey, I'm actually sleeping with my boss... niiiceee!

Day love that she took them to the tribunal! Wicked stuff. My place is the same as Nick's. Went through a spell of having to have gender and ethnicity diversity on the panels. They realised that wss unsustainable - all some people did was interview.

She would have liked to have seen the tribunal through to the end just to show them up in public but bills were racking up and she felt she needed to just move on, sadly can't say who it was as they put a gagging clause in settlement. Yeah, it's a tricky one, we still get that with many minority groups doing A LOT of the heavy lifting, we try to encourage more allies to join for support so it becomes more the norm, even re-writing job descriptions to have more inclusive language to get more diverse representation across the applications so none of that 'we want the best of the best' kinda stuff if you get my drift and having 50/50 shorts lists.
EDIT:// Not that I'm saying you need to read it or don't already know all this though but she likes to spread the word!! :-)

If it helps, I tend to shave everyday and have no thinning of hair going on.
Still white with thickish rimmed glasses, mind.

I have the thick rimmed glasses, the permastubble. However I have A LOT of thick black hair...oh and I'm brown. And I'm not called Dan. So close...

I think I fit Jambos IT stereotype. I don't work in IT.
I think I pull it off though (heyo!)

I have fairly thick, long hair. Though I think it's starting to thin.
But do wear glasses.
Can't really grow a beard, takes ages and just looks a bit crap when I do.

CEO Teams Briefings - at the end you get the cacophony of about 114 people all personally saying goodbye over the microphone as if said CEO will spot and acknowledge who is saying goodbye. Don’t know if it’s a nervousness thing or a brown-tongue thing. Just hang up at the end FFS.

Well after my recent troubles (and having to work my day off) I finally have the long weekend off needed. Have done almost everything we possibly could on the project on the team and can enter my wee break with a clear conscience too, unlike some higher ups we are still waiting for input into it who are breaking promise after promise.
Other half is working at the office too so also have the bliss of a free house. Mega excited to have 72 hours of hopefully fairly unadulterated relaxation and hobby time, save for a bit of tidying and cooking and stuff.
As a side note as well, what with me resenting basically having to work that day off (which is like a fortnightly TOIL for working 10 days in 9) instead of just moving it, I remembered that I had been offered overtime. Therefore I’m actually on annual leave tomorrow and banked a full 8 hours for working my day off, plus another three hours of evening work I did after tea on the evening of the same day. So I’ll actually make money on it too, which was well worth spending a day of holiday to get! Having overspent a bit recently it’ll definitely come in handy.

Good stuff. Put the phone/laptop away in a locked drawer and enjoy. It's just work, ultimately.

I obviously left fruit in there last time I went to the office (which is several weeks ago). So there is a job for tomorrow 😂

The new government here is slashing the public sector more or less indiscriminately to fund income tax breaks (average $4ish a fortnight) and tax breaks for those poor landlords. Our organisational review began in April, we were supposed to be consulted on the draft plan mid-May so it can be implemented in July. This was delayed for a week, then two more weeks, then another week. Now the whole thing is being shelved so that a higher-level organisational review can take place, i.e. not about redundancies and restructuring, but about dismembering or disestablishing the entire agency. No idea when I will find out if my job might be on the line.
My life is pretty much on hold until I know. I desperately want to move out of this fucking hateful flat, and book flights back to the UK, but I can't really do anything until we know.
The only silver lining is that our unit might get moved back to Ministry of Justice, which would be a Godsend as our leadership are beyond useless. Our DCE, who has had responsibility for administering our legislation for three years, yesterday inadvertently revealed that she was unaware of one of the biggest policy problems we face - a problem that was very much present when she started. She's on at least $250k. That's a public sector cut I could get behind.

Been there and it was crap. It was the best and most rewarding job I’ve ever had too, in a team that genuinely buzzed off each other and was really diverse. Seven years of that gone in a bout six months due to the austerity cuts hitting our local authority. Have never really enjoyed work since and that’s years and years ago now.
Sorry Lizard.
